Neurons migrate from their birthplaces to the destinations,and extending axons navigate to their synaptic targets by sensing various extracellular cues in spatiotemporally controlled *** evolutionally conserved guidance cues and their receptors regulate multiple aspects of neural development to establish the highly complex nervous system by mediating both short-and long-range cell-cell *** guidance genes(encoding cues,receptors,or downstream signal transducers)are critical not only for development of the nervous system but also for synaptic maintenance,remodeling,and function in the adult *** emerging theme is the combinatorial and complementary functions of relatively limited classes of neuronal guidance genes in multiple processes,including neuronal migration,axonal guidance,synaptogenesis,and circuit ***,neuronal guidance genes also regulate cell migration and cell-cell communications outside the nervous *** are just beginning to understand how cells integrate multiple guidance and adhesion signaling inputs to determine overall cellular/subcellular behavior and how aberrant guidance signaling in various cell types contributes to diverse human diseases,ranging from developmental,neuropsychiatric,and neurodegenerative disorders to cancer *** review classic studies and recent advances in understanding signaling mechanisms of the guidance genes as well as their roles in human ***,we discuss the remaining chalienges and therapeutic potentials of modulating neuronal guidance pathways in neural repair.

In a large number of rare-earth and actinide systems,Kondo effect tends to suppress magnetic orders by making the spin singlet between localized and conduction electron *** the presence of orbital degrees of freedom,however,there emerge exotic electronic orders induced by Kondo *** orbital Kondo effect can collectively make diagonal and off-diagonal(superconducting) *** the particle-hole symmetry in conduction bands,these orders are all degenerate,forming a macroscopic SO(5) *** paper discusses recent theoretical development on these electronic orders which are relevant to Pr^(3+) and U^(4+) systems with even number of f electrons per *** the superconducting order,each conduction–electron pair is coupled with local degrees of freedom,forming a composite entity with a staggered spatial *** quasi-particle spectrum is best interpreted as virtual hybridization with resonant states at the Fermi *** order parameter for URu_2Si_2 in the hidden order state is discussed in the context of composite *** discussed are related issues such as homogeneous odd-frequency pairing and SO(5) theory for hightemperature superconductors.

BACKGROUND Mucosal patterns(MPs)observed on blue laser imaging in patients with atrophic gastritis can be classified as spotty,cracked,and ***,we hypothesized that the spotty pattern may change to the cracked pattern after Helicobacter pylori(***)*** To further substantiate and comprehensively investigate MP changes after *** eradication in a larger number of *** We included 768 patients who were diagnosed with atrophic gastritis with evaluable MP using upper gastrointestinal endoscopy at the Nishikawa Gastrointestinal Clinic,*** them,325 patients were ***-positive,and of them,101 patients who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy before and after *** eradication were evaluated for post-eradication MP *** patients’MPs were interpreted by three experienced endoscopists who were blinded to their clinical *** Among 76 patients with the spotty pattern before or after *** eradication,the pattern disappeared or decreased in 67 patients[88.2%,95%confidence interval(CI):79.0%-93.6%),appeared or increased in 8 patients(10.5%,95%CI:5.4%-19.4%),and showed no change in 1 patient(1.3%,95%CI:0.2%-7.1%).In 90 patients with the cracked pattern before or after *** eradication,the pattern disappeared or decreased in 7 patients(7.8%,95%CI:3.8%-15.2%),appeared or increased in 79 patients(87.8%,95%CI:79.4%-93.0%),and showed no change in 4 patients(4.4%,95%CI:1.7%-10.9%).In 70 patients with the mottled pattern before or after *** eradication,the pattern disappeared or decreased in 28 patients(40.0%,95%CI:29.3%-51.7%),appeared or increased in 35 patients(50.0%,95%CI:38.6%-61.4%),and showed no change in 7 patients(10.0%,95%CI:4.9%-19.2%).CONCLUSION After *** eradication,MPs changed from spotty to cracked in most patients,which may help endoscopists easily and precisely evaluate ***-related gastritis status.

In this review, the progress made during the last two years with respect to the syntheses and novel properties of one-dimensional （1D） ZnS nanostructures is presented. Primarily the research on 1D ZnS nanostructures has been of growing interest owing to their promising applications in nanoscale optoelectronic devices. Diverse 1D ZnS nanostructures with delicately-tuned morphologies, sizes, and microstructures have been synthesized through relatively simple and well-controlled techniques. Some novel properties of the nanomaterials have been explored and the relationships between their structural features and functions have been understood gradually.

This paper deals with Markov decision processes with a target set for nonpositive rewards. Two types of threshold probability criteria are discussed. The first criterion is a probability that a total reward is not greater than a given initial threshold value, and the second is a probability that the total reward is less than it. Our first （resp. second） optimizing problem is to minimize the first （resp. second） threshold probability. These problems suggest that the threshold value is a permissible level of the total reward to reach a goal （the target set）, that is, we would reach this set over the level, if possible. For the both problems, we show that 1） the optimal threshold probability is a unique solution to an optimality equation, 2） there exists an optimal deterministic stationary policy, and 3） a value iteration and a policy space iteration are given. In addition, we prove that the first （resp. second） optimal threshold probability is a monotone increasing and right （resp. left） continuous function of the initial threshold value and propose a method to obtain an optimal policy and the optimal threshold probability in the first problem by using them in the second problem.

This paper presents three-dimensional finite element （FE） analyses of an all-frame model of a three-story reinforced concrete （RC） building damaged in the 1999 Taiwan Chi-Chi Earthquake. Non-structural brick walls of the building acted as a seismic resistant element although their contributions were neglected in the design. Hence, the entire structure of a typical frame was modeled and static and dynamic nonlinear analyses were conducted to evaluate the contributions of the brick walls. However, the results of the analyses were considerably overestimated due to coarse mesh discretizations, which were unavoidable due to limited computer resources. This study corrects the overestimations by modifying （1） the tensile strengths and （2） shear stiffness reduction factors of concrete and brick. The results indicate that brick walls improve frame strength although shear failures are caused in columns shortened by spandrel walls. Then, the effectiveness of three types of seismic retrofits is evaluated. The maximum drift of the first floor is reduced by 89.3%, 94.8%, and 27.5% by Steel-confined, FuI1-RC, and Full-brick models, respectively. Finally, feasibility analyses of models with soils were conducted. The analyses indicated that the soils elongate the natural period of building models although no significant differences were observed.

Growth of semi-polar (1-101)GaN has been attempted on a patterned (001) silicon substrate adopting selective area MOVPE. The growth was initiated on (111) facets of the Si,which had been prepared by anisotropy etching in a KOH solution. A uniform semi-polar layer was achieved by coalescence of stripes. Since the growth was performed on facets,the surface was atomically flat in AFM surface analyses. By using a high temperature grown AlN nucleation layer,we achieved low threading dislocation density at the top most surface. Moreover,by tilting the c-axis of the GaN on the Si substrate,the effect of the thermal expansion coefficient mismatch was much reduced. As the result,we achieved a crack free (1-101)GaN template on (001)Si. On the thus prepared (1-101)GaN,a GaInN/GaN LED was fabricated,which showed excellent performance with weak quantum confined Stark effect.
