Background: Acupuncture is increasingly used as an additional treatment for patients with Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods: In this functional magnetic resonance imaging study, brain activation in response to acupuncture in a group of 12 patients with PD was compared with a group of 12 healthy *** was conducted on a specific acupoint,the right Yanglingquan(GB34), which is a frequently used acupoint for motor function treatment in the oriental medical ***: Acupuncture stimulation on this acupoint activated the prefrontal cortex, precentral gyrus, and putamen in patients with PD; areas that are known to be impaired in patients with *** with healthy participants, patients with PD showed significantly higher brain activity in the prefrontal cortex and precentral gyrus, especially in the left ***: The neuroimaging results of our study suggest that in future acupuncture research, the prefrontal cortex as well as the precentral gyrus should be treated for symptoms of PD and that GB34 seems to be a suitable ***, acupuncture evoked more different brain activations in patients with PD than that in healthy participants in our study, stressing the importance of conducting acupuncture studies on both healthy participants as well as patients within the same study, in order to detect acupuncture's efficacy.

Clear visualization of the gastrointestinal mucosal surface is essential for thorough endoscopy. An unobstructed assessment can reduce the need for additional timeconsuming manipulations such as frequent washing and suction,which tend to prolong total procedure time. However,mucus,foam,and bubbles often hinder clear visibility during endoscopy. Premedication with pronase,a compound of mixed proteolytic enzymes,has been studied in order to improve mucosal visibility during endoscopy. Although its effects differ according to the location in the stomach,premedication with pronase 10 to 20 min before endoscopy significantly improves mucosal visibility without affecting the accuracy of Helicobacter pylori identification. The effects of pronase as premedication also extend to chromoendoscopy,narrow-band imaging,magnifying endoscopy,and endoscopic ultrasonography. In addition,endoscopic flushing with pronase during endoscopy may improve the quantity and the quality of a biopsy to some degree. Although improved mucosal visibility does not necessarily improve clinical outcomes,premedication with pronase may be helpful for increasing the detection rate of early cancers.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine whether acupuncture stimulation at the Baihui(GV20) improves memory defects caused by administration of scopolamine(SCO) to the *** effects of acupuncture stimulation at the GV20 on the cholinergic system as well as the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) and cAMP-response element-binding protein(CREB) in the hippocampus were also ***: Male rats were administered with SCO(2 mg/kg, i.p.) once daily for 14 *** stimulation at GV20 was performed for 5 min before SCO ***: Acupuncture stimulation at GV20 improved memory impairment as measured by the passive avoidance test(PAT) and reduced the escape latency for finding the platform in the Morris water maze(MWM) *** stimulation at the GV20 significantly alleviated memory-associated decreases in the expression levels of choline acetyltransferase(ChAT), BDNF and CREB proteins in the ***, acupuncture stimulation at the GV20 significantly restored the expression of choline transporter 1(CHT1), vesicular acetylcholine transporter(VAChT), BDNF and CREB mRNAs in the ***: These results demonstrated that acupuncture stimulation at the GV20 has significant neuroprotective effects against neuronal impairment and memory dysfunction caused by SCO in ***, these findings suggested that acupuncture stimulation at the GV20 might be a useful therapy in various neurodegenerative diseases for the improvement of cognitive functioning via stimulating cholinergic enzyme activities and regulating BDNF and CREB expression in the brain.

星形胶质细胞是胶质细胞的主要类型,对神经元突触间的信号传递和联系起到反馈作用,构成"三重突触结构"。在大脑发育的过程中,星形胶质细胞的代谢型谷氨酸受体介导钙离子波并释放胶质递质或突触发生分子,介导神经元.胶质细胞间的联系,但在成年大脑中,尚不清楚是否存在此信号通路。但越来越多的证据显示,当成年大脑处于病理状态下,成熟的星形胶质细胞也重新表现出非成熟星形胶质细胞的表型。星形胶质细胞表型的这种非成熟转变可以导致神经环路和突触的重塑。在本综述中,笔者总结了大脑发育过程中星形胶质细胞介导的突触重塑,讨论了成年脑病理过程中非成熟星形胶质细胞信号通路的重现,并重点讨论这些信号通路对病理过程中与脑功能改变有关的突触连接重塑的意义。
