Multiple primary malignant tumors of upper gastrointestinal tract:A novel role of ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT

AIM: To evaluate the capacity of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) for detecting multiple primary cancer of upper gastrointestinal (UGI) tract. METHODS: Fifteen patients (12 without cancer histories and 3 with histories of upper GI tract cancer) were investigated due to the suspicion of primary cancer of UGI tract on X-ray barium meal and CT scan. Subsequent whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT scan was carried out for initial staging or restaging. All the patients were fi nally confi rmed by endoscopic biopsy or surgery. The detection rate of multiple primary malignant cancers was calculated based on 18F-FDG PET/CT and endoscopic ***: 18F-FDG PET/CT scan was positive in 32 suspicious lesions, 30/32 were true positive primary lesions, and 2/32 were false positive. In 15 suspicious lesions with negative 18F-FDG PET/CT scan, 12/15 were true negative and 3/15 were false negative. Among the 15 patients, 12 patients had 29 primary synchronous tumors confirmed by pathology, including 8 cases of esophageal cancers accompanied with gastric cancer and 4 of hypopharynx cancers with esophageal cancer. The other 3 patients had 4 new primary metachronous tumors, which were multiple primary esophageal cancers. PET/CT imaging detected local lymph node metastases in 11 patients. Both local lymph node metastases and distant metastases were detected in 4 patients. On a per-primary lesion basis, the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, negative predictive value and positive predictive value of 18F-FDG PET/CT for detecting multiple primary cancer of UGI tract were 90.9%, 85.7%, 89.4%, 80% and 93.7%, respectively. CONCLUSION: The whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT may play an important role in evaluating the multiple primary malignant tumors of UGI tract cancer.

Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci for Rice Quality in a Population of Chromosome Segment Substitution Lines

The demand for high quality rice represents a major issue in rice production. The primary components of rice grain quality include appearance, eating, cooking, physico-chemical, milling and nutritional qualities. Most of these traits are complex and controlled by quantitative trait loci （QTLs）, so the genetic characterization of these traits is more difficult than that of traits controlled by a single gene. The detection and genetic identification of QTLs can provide insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying quality traits. Chromosome segment substitution lines （CSSLs） are effectivetools used in mapping QTLs. In this study, we constructed 154 CSSLs from backcross progeny （BC3F2） derived from a cross between ＇Koshihikari＇（an Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica variety） as the recurrent parent and ＇Nona Bokra＇（an O. sativa L. ssp. indica variety） as the donor parent. In this process, we carried out marker-assisted selection by using 102 cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence and simple sequence repeat markers covering most of the rice genome. Finally, this set of CSSLs was used to identify QTLs for rice quality traits. Ten QTLs for rice appearance quality traits were detected and eight QTLs concerned physico-chemical traits. These results supply the foundation for further genetic studies and breeding for the improvement of grain quality.

Relationship between genotypes and clinical manifestation, pathology, and cccDNA in Chinese children with hepatitis B virus-associated glomerulonephritis

Background:Hepatitis B virus-associated glomerulonephritis(HBV-GN)is one of the extrahepatic manifestations after HBV infection,which would cause great clinical harm to *** present study was undertaken to investigate the HBV-GN genotypes and its clinical relevance in Chinese ***:A total of 41 HBV-infected children diagnosed with HBV-GN were enrolled in the *** patients underwent liver and kidney *** genotypes and cccDNA were detected in their serum samples to analyze the relationship between HBV genotypes and clinical characteristics,cccDNA,and ***:Among the 41 children with HBV-GN,29(70.7%)had genotype C,10(24.4%)had genotype B,2(4.9%)had genotype B/C,and none of them had genotype non-B/*** children had genotypes B or C;moreover,the genotype C was the most frequent *** incidence of hematuria and albuminuria,reduction in complement C3,increase in serum alanine aminotransferase levels and renal insufficiency in the children with genotype C were signifi cantly higher than those in the children with genotype B(P0.05).The frequency of HBV cccDNA positive in the genotype C group was significantly higher than that in the genotype B group(72.4%vs.30.0%,P0.05).Conclusion:Genotype C was the most frequent genotype in the described group of patients with HBV-GN,and the liver and kidney damage indicators were more likely to occur in patients with genotype C.

A Weakly-Supervised Crowd Density Estimation Method Based on Two-Stage Linear Feature Calibration

In a crowd density estimation dataset,the annotation of crowd locations is an extremely laborious task,and they are not taken into the evaluation *** this paper,we aim to reduce the annotation cost of crowd datasets,and propose a crowd density estimation method based on weakly-supervised learning,in the absence of crowd position supervision information,which directly reduces the number of crowds by using the number of pedestrians in the image as the supervised *** this purpose,we design a new training method,which exploits the correlation between global and local image features by incremental learning to train the ***,we design a parent-child network(PC-Net)focusing on the global and local image respectively,and propose a linear feature calibration structure to train the PC-Net simultaneously,and the child network learns feature transfer factors and feature bias weights,and uses the transfer factors and bias weights to linearly feature calibrate the features extracted from the Parent network,to improve the convergence of the network by using local features hidden in the crowd *** addition,we use the pyramid vision transformer as the backbone of the PC-Net to extract crowd features at different levels,and design a global-local feature loss function(L2).We combine it with a crowd counting loss(LC)to enhance the sensitivity of the network to crowd features during the training process,which effectively improves the accuracy of crowd density *** experimental results show that the PC-Net significantly reduces the gap between fullysupervised and weakly-supervised crowd density estimation,and outperforms the comparison methods on five datasets of Shanghai Tech Part A,ShanghaiTech Part B,UCF_CC_50,UCF_QNRF and JHU-CROWD++.

Hydrocarbon gas huff-n-puff optimization of multiple horizontal wells with complex fracture networks in the M unconventional reservoir

The oil production of the multi-fractured horizontal wells(MFHWs) declines quickly in unconventional oil reservoirs due to the fast depletion of natural energy. Gas injection has been acknowledged as an effective method to improve oil recovery factor from unconventional oil reservoirs. Hydrocarbon gas huff-n-puff becomes preferable when the CO_(2) source is limited. However, the impact of complex fracture networks and well interference on the EOR performance of multiple MFHWs is still unclear. The optimal gas huff-n-puff parameters are significant for enhancing oil recovery. This work aims to optimize the hydrocarbon gas injection and production parameters for multiple MFHWs with complex fracture networks in unconventional oil reservoirs. Firstly, the numerical model based on unstructured grids is developed to characterize the complex fracture networks and capture the dynamic fracture ***, the PVT phase behavior simulation was carried out to provide the fluid model for numerical simulation. Thirdly, the optimal parameters for hydrocarbon gas huff-n-puff were obtained. Finally, the dominant factors of hydrocarbon gas huff-n-puff under complex fracture networks are obtained by fuzzy mathematical method. Results reveal that the current pressure of hydrocarbon gas injection can achieve miscible displacement. The optimal injection and production parameters are obtained by single-factor analysis to analyze the effect of individual parameter. Gas injection time is the dominant factor of hydrocarbon gas huff-n-puff in unconventional oil reservoirs with complex fracture networks. This work can offer engineers guidance for hydrocarbon gas huff-n-puff of multiple MFHWs considering the complex fracture networks.

Physics-Informed Neural Networks with Two Weighted Loss Function Methods for Interactions of Two-Dimensional Oceanic Internal Solitary Waves

The multiple patterns of internal solitary wave interactions(ISWI)are a complex oceanic *** remote sensing techniques indirectly detect these ISWI,but do not provide information on their detailed structure and ***,the authors considered a three-layer fluid with shear flow and developed a(2+1)Kadomtsev-Petviashvili(KP)model that is capable of describing five types of oceanic ISWI,including O-type,P-type,TO-type,TP-type,and *** learning models,particularly physics-informed neural networks(PINN),are widely used in the field of fluids and internal solitary ***,the authors find that the amplitude of internal solitary waves is much smaller than the wavelength and the ISWI occur at relatively large spatial scales,and these characteristics lead to an imbalance in the loss function of the PINN *** solve this problem,the authors introduce two weighted loss function methods,the fixed weighing and the adaptive weighting methods,to improve the PINN *** successfully simulated the detailed structure and dynamics of ISWI,with simulation results corresponding to the satellite *** particular,the adaptive weighting method can automatically update the weights of different terms in the loss function and outperforms the fixed weighting method in terms of generalization ability.

A New Method for Solving Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations Based on Liquid Time-Constant Networks

In this paper,physics-informed liquid networks(PILNs)are proposed based on liquid time-constant networks(LTC)for solving nonlinear partial differential equations(PDEs).In this approach,the network state is controlled via ordinary differential equations(ODEs).The significant advantage is that neurons controlled by ODEs are more expressive compared to simple activation *** addition,the PILNs use difference schemes instead of automatic differentiation to construct the residuals of PDEs,which avoid information loss in the neighborhood of sampling *** this method draws on both the traveling wave method and physics-informed neural networks(PINNs),it has a better physical ***,the KdV equation and the nonlinear Schr¨odinger equation are solved to test the generalization ability of the *** the best of the authors’knowledge,this is the first deep learning method that uses ODEs to simulate the numerical solutions of PDEs.
