Porosity is a challenging issue in additive manufacturing and is detrimental to the quality of the additively manufactured *** this study,a real-time porosity reduction technique was developed by incorporating a pulse laser into a laser metal powder directed energy deposition(DED)*** incorporated pulse laser can accelerate fluid flow within the melt pool and facilitate the escape of pores before complete *** achieves this real-time porosity reduction by inducing accelerated and turbulent Marangoni flow,ultrasonic waves,and shock waves into the melt *** uniqueness and advantages of the proposed technique include the following:(1)For a laser metal powder DED process,this study proposed a noncontact,nondestructive,and real-time porosity reduction technique at the melt pool level.(2)It was experimentally and numerically validated that the developed technique did not alter the geometry and the grain structure of the manufactured Ti-6Al-4V samples.(3)Because the porosity reduction is accomplished at the melt pool level,its application is not limited by the size,shape,or complexity of the printing target.(4)The developed technique can be readily incorporated into the existing DED systems without any modification of the original tool-path *** experimental results showed that the pore volume fraction decreased from 0.132%to 0.005%,no pores larger than 6×10^(4)μm^(3) were observed,and a 91%reduction in the total pore number was achieved when the pulse laser energy reached 11.5 mJ.

To improve lithium-sulfur battery performance,Co-MOF-74 has been applied for the first time as an interlayer with multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs).Co-MOF-74@MWCNT was synthesized using a solvothermal *** fabrication of Co-MOF-74@MWCNT was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,thermogravimetric analysis,and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller *** interlayer was fabricated using a filtration *** batteries were prepared using a CoMOF-74@MWCNT interlayer and an MWCNT interlayer and subsequently investigated via cyclic voltammetry ***-MOF-74 promotes a redox reaction and shows a small peak at 1.85 V.A symmetric and full cell test revealed that the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT cell enables a faster redox reaction and higher capacity than that of the MWCNT *** 15 cycles,the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT cell achieved a value of 1112 mAh g^(-1),which is 26% greater than that of the MWCNT cell(880 mAh g^(-1)) at 0.2 *** profile testing showed that the reason for the higher capacity of the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT cell is that it promotes the conversion of Li_(2)S_(2) to Li_(2)*** electrochemical analyses confirmed that the Co-MOF-74@MWCNT interlayer acts not only as a physical and chemical barrier but also promotes the transformation of Li_(2)S_(2) to Li_(2)S.

Bird-mimetic Wing System of Flapping-wing Micro Air Vehicle with Autonomous Flight Control Capability

A micro air vehicle with a bird-mimetic up-down and twisting wing drive system was developed in this study. The Flap- ping-wing Micro Air Vehicle （FMAV）, with a 50 cm wingspan and a double-crank drive system, performed successful flights of up to 23 min. The performance and capabilities of the FMAV were enhanced by adapting a number of unique features, such as a bird-mimetic wing shape with a span-wise camber and an up-down and twisting wing drive mechanism with double-crank linkages, This lift-enhancing design by mimicking the flapping mechanism of a bird＇s wing enabled the 210 g FMAV to fly autonomously in an outdoor field under wind speeds of less than 5 m.s-1. Autonomous flight was enabled by installing a flight control computer with a micro-electro-mechanical gyroscope and accelerometers, along with a micro video camera and an ultralight wireless communication system inside the fuselage. A comprehensive wind tunnel test shows that the FMAV with a high-camber wing and double-crank mechanism generates more lift and less net thrust than the FMAV with a flat wing and single-crank mechanism, which confirms the improved performance of the developed FMAV, as well as the superior slow flying or hovering capabilities of the FMAV with a high-camber wing and double-crank wing drive system.

BACKGROUND Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome(SOS)is caused by damage to hepatic sinusoidal endothelial cells that results in fibrous obliteration of intrahepatic venules and necrosis of *** the diagnosis is primarily based on nonspecific clinical features and invasive liver ***,noninvasive imaging methods are required for the early diagnosis and severity assessment of hepatic *** To determine the effectiveness of supersonic shear wave imaging(SSI)and dual energy computed tomography(DECT)for diagnosing hepatic SOS using a rabbit *** Among nine New Zealand white rabbits(3-4 kg,male),three in control group ingested normal saline for 20 d and six in the SOS group ingested 6-thioguanine(5 mg/kg/d)for 20 *** stiffness was measured using SSI on days 0,3,10,and *** the same days,liver perfusion was evaluated from virtual monochromatic images of 55 keV and iodine map using *** changes in the liver were assessed using *** pathology scores were compared between the two *** stiffness and perfusion parameters were compared according to the groups,days,and pathology *** Final pathology scores were significantly higher in the SOS than the control group(median 22 vs 2,P=0.024).No gross morphologic changes were seen in *** stiffness,Hounsfield Unit values,and iodine concentrations were higher in the SOS compared to the control group on days 10 and 20(all,P≤0.007).Compared to day 0,liver stiffness and perfusion parameters were higher on day 20 in the SOS group(all,P≤0.001).Correlation coefficients for liver stiffness(r=0.635),Hounsfield Unit values(r=0.587),and iodine concentration(r=0.611)with final pathology scores were positive without significance(all,P>0.05).CONCLUSION Liver stiffness and perfusion parameters were significantly increased in the livers of a rabbit SOS *** and DECT might aid in early diagnosis of hepatic SOS.

Exhausted T(Tex)cells are a distinct subset of T cells that arise in response to prolonged antigen exposure during chronic infections or *** Tex cells exhibit reduced functionality,they still retain some protective *** CD8+T cells are a heterogeneous group consisting of four subsets:progenitor,intermediate,effector,and terminally *** subset is characterized by distinct transcriptional,epigenetic,and functional traits[1].Recent studies have indicated that the progenitor and intermediate Tex subsets are mainly responsible for the proliferative surge observed during anti-PD-1 immunotherapy,which results in the production of a large pool of functional effector cells,thereby sustaining the antitumor immune response[2].However,blocking the PD-1 pathway alone typically fails to achieve lasting disease control in most *** blockade of PD-1 and other immune checkpoint receptors can enhance CD8+T-cell-mediated immunity,leading to more effective treatment outcomes.

Foreign bodies in the colon are encountered with increasing frequency, but only sporadic reports concerning their management have appeared in the literature. While most ingested foreign bodies usually pass through the gastrointestinal tract uneventfully, sharp foreign bodies such as toothpicks infrequently cause intestinal perforation and may even result in death. We report our experience with a patient with a sigmoid colon pseudodiverticulum formation, a complication of accidental ingestion of a toothpick that was diagnosed and successfully managed colonoscopically.
