Recombinant interleukin-33(IL-33)inhibits tumor growth,but the detailed immunological mechanism is still ***-33-mediated tumor suppression did not occur in Batf3^(−/−)mice,indicating that conventional type 1 dendritic cells(cDC1s)play a key role in IL-33-mediated antitumor immunity.A population of CD103^(+)cDC1s,which were barely detectable in the spleens of normal mice,increased significantly in the spleens of IL-33-treated *** newly emerged splenic CD103^(+)cDC1s were distinct from conventional splenic cDC1s based on their spleen residency,robust effector T-cell priming ability,and surface expression of *** and DC precursors did not express Suppressor of Tumorigenicity 2(ST2).However,recombinant IL-33 induced spleen-resident FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s,which were found to be differentiated from DC precursors by bystander ST2+immune *** immune cell fractionation and depletion assays,we found that IL-33-primed ST2^(+)basophils play a crucial role in the development of FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s by secreting IL-33-driven extrinsic *** GM-CSF also induced the population of CD103^(+)cDC1s,but the population neither expressed FCGR3 nor induced any discernable antitumor *** population of FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s was also generated in vitro culture of Flt3L-mediated bone marrow-derived DCs(FL-BMDCs)when IL-33 was added in a pre-DC stage of ***-BMDCs generated in the presence of IL-33(FL-33-DCs)offered more potent tumor immunotherapy than control Flt3L-BMDCs(FL-DCs).Human monocyte-derived DCs were also more immunogenic when exposed to IL-33-induced *** findings suggest that recombinant IL-33 or an IL-33-mediated DC vaccine could be an attractive protocol for better tumor immunotherapy.

Is percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement safe in patients with ventriculoperitoneal shunts?

AIM:To investigate whether percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement is safe in patients with ventriculoperitoneal (VP) ***: This was a retrospective study of all patients undergoing PEG insertion at our institution between June 1999 and June 2006. Post-PEG complications were compared between two groups according to the presence or absence of VP shunts. VP shunt infection rates, the interval between PEG placement and VP shunt catheter insertion, and long-term follow-up were also ***: Fifty-five patients qualified for the study. Seven patients (12.7%) had pre-existing VP shunts. All patients received prophylactic antibiotics. The complication rate did not differ between VP shunt patients undergoing PEG (PEG/VP group) and non-VP shunt patients undergoing PEG (control group) [1 (14.3%) vs 6 (12.5%), P=1.000]. All patients in the PEG/VP group had undergone VP shunt insertion prior to PEG placement. The mean interval between VP shunt insertion and PEG placement was 308.7 d (range, 65-831 d). The mean follow-up duration in the PEG/VP group was 6.4 mo (range, 1-15 mo). There were no VP shunt infections, although one patient in the PEG/VP group developed a minor peristomal infection during ***: Complications following PEG placement in patients with VP shunts were infrequent in this study.

Thioredoxin and thioredoxin-interacting protein as prognostic markers for gastric cancer recurrence

AIM:To evaluate the potential of thioredoxin (TXN) and thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) expression as biomarkers for predicting gastric cancer recurrence. METHODS:TXN and TXNIP expression levels were acquired from gene expression microarray data for 65 human gastric cancer tissues. We determined whether each gene expression level was associated with cancer recurrence and investigated the relationship between the two genes. For validation, the expression levels of TXN and TXNIP were measured by quantitative real- time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in 68 independent stage Ⅲ gastric cancer patients. The correlation between gene expression and cancer prognosis was evaluated. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to investigate the protein expression levels of TXN and TXNIP and to characterize the expression patterns of each protein. RESULTS:TXN was a prognosis-related gene (P = 0.009), whereas TXNIP, a TXN inhibitor, demonstrated a negative correlation with TXN in the gene expression microarray data. In the 68 stage Ⅲ patients, the expression levels of both TXN and TXNIP had a statistically significant effect on recurrence-free survival (RFS, P = 0.008 and P = 0.036, respectively). The low TXN and high TXNIP expression group exhibited a better prognosis than the other groups, and the high TXN and low TXNIP expression group exhibited a poorer prognosis (P < 0.001 for RFS and P = 0.001 for overall survival). More than half of the patients in the simulta-neously high TXN and low TXNIP expression group ex- perienced a recurrence within 1 year after curative surgery, and the 5-year survival rate of the patients in this group was 29%, compared with 89% in the low TXN and high TXNIP expression group. The TXN protein was overexpressed in 65% of the gastric cancer tissues, whereas the TXNIP protein was underexpressed in 85% of the cancer cells. Simulation of the extreme waves generated by typhoon Bolaven (1215) in the East China Sea and Yellow Sea

Record-breaking high waves occurred during the passage of the typhoon Bolaven（1215）（TYB） in the East China Sea（ECS） and Yellow Sea（YS） although its intensity did not reach the level of a super *** and directional wave measurements were made using a range of in-situ instruments mounted on an ocean tower and *** order to understand how such high waves with long duration occurred,analyses have been made through measurement and numerical *** winds were generated using the TC96 typhoon wind model with the best track data calibrated with the *** then the wind fields were blended with the reanalyzed synoptic-scale wind fields for a wave *** fields were simulated using WAM4.5 with adjustment of C_d for gust of winds and bottom friction for the study *** the accuracy of simulations is considerably enhanced,and the computed results are also in better agreement with measured data than *** is found that the extremely high waves evolved as a result of the superposition of distant large swells and high wind seas generated by strong winds from the front/right quadrant of the typhoon *** the typhoon moved at a speed a little slower than the dominant wave group velocity in a consistent direction for two days,the wave growth was significantly enhanced by strong wind input in an extended fetch and non-linear interaction.

Gender differences in ghrelin, nociception genes, psychological factors and quality of life in functional dyspepsia

AIM to evaluate gender differences in the aspect of ghrelin,nociception-related genes and psychological aspects and the quality of life(Qo L) in Korean functional dyspepsia(FD) *** Total of 191 persons were prospectively enrolled between March 2013 and May 2016 in Seoul National Bundang Hospital,and classified into control and FD group based on ROME Ⅲ criteria. Questionnaire included assessment for dyspepsia symptoms,Qo L and anxiety or depression. Preproghrelin and nociception genes in the gastric mucosa and plasma acyl/des-acyl ghrelin were measured. RESULTS Lower level of plasma acyl ghrelin in FD patients compared to control was significant only in male(15.9 fmol/m L vs 10.4 fmol/m L,P = 0.017). Significantly higher m RNA expressions of nerve growth factor and transient receptor potential vanilloid receptor 1 were observed in male(P = 0.002 and P = 0.014,respectively) than in female. In contrast,female FD patients had a higher anxiety and depression score than male FD(P = 0.029),and anxiety score was correlated with epigastric pain only in female FD patients(female: Spearman rho = 0.420,P = 0.037). The impairment of overall Qo L was more prominent in female FD patients than male patients(5.4 ± 0.3 vs 6.5 ± 0.3,P = 0.020). CONCLUSION Gender differences of ghrelin and nociception-related genes in male and psychological factors in female underlie FD symptoms. More careful assessment of psychological or emotional status is required particularly for the female FD patients.

Significance increase in dengue cases have been recorded worldwide every year and South East Asian countries have been badly ***,antiviral drug to treat dengue is still not available but papaya leaves extract(PLE)have been successfully used in treating dengue *** in PLE is the major active compounds that contributes to the anti-thrombocytopenic activity(raising platelet count in patient’s blood).The PLE also contains polyphenols that contribute to antioxidant *** were carried out to extract and quantify carpaine from young leaves,old leaves and stalks of papaya *** crystalline powders were successfully purified and confirmed by ^(1)H and ^(13)C NMR(Nuclear Magnetic Resonance).Young papaya leaves recorded significantly higher amount of carpaine(P<0.05)as compared with old leaves and *** treatment showed significant effect(P<0.05)on the amount of carpaine extracted from the young and old leaves and blended young leaves showed significantly much higher amount of carpaine as compared with the unblended samples(P<0.05).In terms of total polyphenols content(TPC),young leaves(both unblended and blended samples)contained significantly higher amount of TPC(P<0.05)followed by the old leaves and *** also showed relationship between the TPC and the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)assay scavenging activities namely IC_(50)(R^(2)=0.9743)and acid equivalent antioxidant capacity(AEAC)(R^(2)=0.9581).Both young and old leaves also showed significantly higher(P<0.05)DPPH scavenging activities as compared with the stalks in both unblended and blended *** papaya leaves were recommended as source of material to extract carpaine for future development of drug in dengue treatment.

汉语成语教学对于汉语学习者具有较大的特殊性。因为汉语成语具有中国的文化背景、汉语语法特征等特殊性质。对于外国留学生来说,成语是比较难以掌握的,但是到了中高级阶段,成语教学又是必不可少的。目前,本人是韩国留学生,学习汉语已经4年多了,但是在日常生活中使用成语比较困难,也比较陌生。因此,对于外国留学生来说,学习汉语成语既是难点,也是非常重要的部分。成语在韩语中所占的比例很大,并且成语在韩国人的生活中也很常用。但是汉语成语和韩语成语仍然存在不同。例如同形同义词、同形异义词、异形同义词等等。因此,对汉语学习者来说,到了中高级水平时,汉语成语的学习是难度较大,也比较陌生。因而,汉语学习者应注意汉韩成语两者的异同,并且要准确认知汉韩成语两者的异同。本论文从形式和意义方面对比了汉韩成语,分析了两者的异同,并分析了两本教材中的成语,最后进行了教学设计。不仅在提高韩国学生的成语教学效率方面有一定的实践意义,也能帮助韩国学生更有效地掌握成语。全文分为四个章节:第一章,汉、韩成语的来源及异同分析了中韩两国成语的来源上的共通性和独特性。将汉语成语的来源分为中国历史故事、中国古代神话与寓言故事、古典作品等这三个方面进行论述。同时,将韩语成语的来源分为韩国历史故事、韩国民间传说与风俗、谚语等这三个方面进行论述。第二章,汉、韩成语的语言异同将汉语成语和韩语成语之间从形式和意义方面进行了对比分析。还有以两本汉语教材为语料来源进行分析,对两本教材中出现的同形同义型、同形异义型、异形同义型等汉语成语和韩语成语从形式和意义方面进行对比分析。以及分析了中韩两国在不同地域,不同文化中产生了一些独有的成语。第三章,对韩汉语成语教学现状及问题,以《发展汉语综合》和《轻松学中文》两本具有代表性的对外汉语教材中出现的成语进行对比研究。具体来说,在两本对外汉语教材中分析成语收录现状及问题,并对韩汉语成语课堂的教学现状及教学问题进行分析。通过分析问卷调查结果,从问卷调查中获取了对韩国学生学习汉语成语时的现状和问题,并对其进行了论述。第四章,对韩汉语成语教学设计进行了汉语成语教学设计。将汉语成语教学分为同形同义、同形异义、异形同义、独有的成语等。同时,以四个类型为基础,针对不同四个类型设计了对韩汉语成语教学方案。希望通过本次研究,韩国学生能够准确地运用汉语成语,帮助觉得汉语成语难的汉语学习者能够有趣地学习,在日常生活中也使用汉语成语,能流畅地表达自己的想法和思想,更好地与中国人沟通。还有希望通过成语更深入地了解中国文化传统、历史背景、风俗习惯等等。

Hepatocellular carcinoma in Budd-Chiari syndrome:A single center experience with long-term follow-up in South Korea

AIM:To evaluate long-term clinical course of BuddChiari syndrome(BCS) and predictive factors associated with the development of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and ***:We analyzed 67 patients with BCS between June 1988 and May *** diagnosis of BCS was confirmed by hepatic venous outflow obstruction shown on abdominal ultrasound sonography,computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging,or *** median follow-up period was 103 ± 156 [interquartile range(IQR)] ***:The median age of the patients was 47 ± 16(IQR) *** diagnosis,54 patients had cirrhosis,25(37.3%) Child-Pugh class A,23(34.3%) Child-Pugh class B,and six(9.0%) patients Child-Pugh class *** the follow-up period,HCC was developed in 17 patients,and the annual incidence of HCC in patients with BCS was 2.8%.Patients in HCC group(n = 17) had higher hepatic venous pressure gradient(HVPG) than those in non-HCC group(n = 50)(21 ± 12 mmHg vs 14 ± 7 mmHg,P = 0.019).The survival rate of BCS patients was 86.2% for 5 years,73.8% for 10 years,and 61.2% for 15 *** patients with BCS and HCC,survival was 79% for 5 years,43.1% for 10 years,and 21.5% for 15 ***:The incidence of HCC in patients with BCS was similar to that in patients with other etiologic cirrhosis in South *** HVPG is expected to provide additional information for predicting HCC development in BCS patients.
