Responding to concerns raised by the Bhopal accident, more and more attention has been paid to local emergency, especially chemical emergency, prevention and planning worldwide, and many chemical emergency response systems for public response personnel have been built. With the successful application of geographical information system (GIS) technology in many fields, GIS can be an efficient tool for effective response to chemical emergencies. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the application of GIS technology in emergency response. Typical GIS technology is simply introduced and some of its existing applications to emergency, mainly natural disaster, response are summarized. Spatial data and spatial analysis requirements for chemical monitoring and emergency response are also discussed in detail. Finally a chemical monitoring and emergency response system under development by combining GIS and expert system for both chemical distribution centers and public response personnel is presented.

Cloning and sequence analysis of nine novel MYB genes in Taxodiaceae plants

Myeloblastosis （MYB） is one of the largest transcribed factor families in plants. To gain an overall picture of the evolution of MYB genes in relict plants, we cloned nine novel MYB genes in Taxodiaceae plants （ Taxodium distichum, Taxodium ascendens, Cryptomeria japonica var. Sinensis, Cryptomeria japonica cv. Araucarioides, Cryptomer Ja- ponica, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Cunninghamia lanceolata, Tai- wania cryptomerioides and Glyptostrobus pensilis）. The deduced amino acid sequences for MYBs showed that the nine MYB proteins contained two DNA binding domains. The first domain is from amino acid position 29 to 78, wherein three tryptophanes at 33, 53 and 73 were separated by 19 amino acids, respectively. The second domain is from amino acid position 82 to 127, wherein three tryptophanes at 86, 105 and 124 were separated by 18 amino acids, respectively, whereas the first tryptophane at amino acid position 86 is replaced by a phenylalanine. The characteri- zation of these conserved domains at nine MYBs indicated that they all belong to the R2R3-MYB group. The secondary structure analysis showed that a-helix and 13-turn are the major motifs of the predicted secondary structure of MYBs. The three dimensional model of each MYB protein showed that the structure is like clip, making it more flexi- ble and mobile. The similarities between the nine MYB proteins in Taxodiaceae were calculated. The highest identical value of 99% is be- tween CjsMYB, CjMYB and CjaMYB, whereas the lowest value of 82% is between TaMYB and C1MYB. According to the phylogenetic tree, the distances between different genera were relatively large whereas those within genera were relatively small. As expected, accessions of the same genus formed a subgroup before being grouped with other genera.

Amplified consensus genetic marker （ACGM） is a PCR-based marker technique that uses primers designed within conserved regions of coding sequences. After a comparison of Cryptomeria japonica and Arabidopsis ESTs to search for conserved sequences, 237 single e-PCR products were obtained. We randomly selected 110 candidate ACGM markers to test. Of the 110 candidate ACGM markers tested, 106 yielded stable and clear PCR products in C. japonica. We then tested the utility of these 106 primer pairs in 10 species, representing 7 genera of Taxodi- aceae. The number of specific amplification primer pairs among those 10 species varied from 49 to 103 （or 46.2±97.2%）. The 106 primer pairs （ACGM loci） were high transferable to Cryptomeria fortunei Hooibrenk （97.2%） but were low in Metasequoia glyptostroboides （46.2%）. The number of PCR bands per primer pair ranged from 1.06 to 1.15, which means that most of the ACGM primers can obtain a single band within these 10 Taxodiaceae species. In summary, our study shows that ACGM is a technique applicable for marker development even in species with limited sequence data.

Polyacrylonitrile （PAN） polymers with different compositions were prepared by an efficient aqueous free-radical polymerization technique. Thermal properties of polyacrylonitrile homopolymer （PAN）, poly（acrylonitrile/itaconic acid） [P（AN/IA）] and poly（acrylonitrile/itaconic acid/acrylamide） [P（AN/IA/AM）] were studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry in detail. It was found that AM had the ability to initiate and accelerate thermal oxidative stabilization process, which was confirmed by the lower initiation temperature and broader exothermic peak in P（AN/IA/AM） as compared with that in P（AN/IA） and PAN. The intensity of heat releasing during the thermal treatment was relaxed due to the presence of two separated exothermic peaks. Accompanied by DSC analysis and calculation of the apparent activation energy of cyclization reaction, two peaks were assigned to the ionic and free radical induction mechanisms, respectively. The higher rate constant in P（AN/IA/AM） indicated that the ionic mechanism actually had a kinetic advantage at promoting thermal stability over the free radical mechanism. This study clearly show that the synthesized P（AN/IA/AM） terpolymers possess larger room to adjust manufacture parameters to fabricate high performance of PAN-based carbon fibers.

为明确各种植物次生物质对橘小实蝇Bactrocera dorsalis(Hendel)抗药性的影响,本研究以室内选育的橘小实蝇对敌百虫高抗品系为研究对象,使用不同剂量的芸香苷、槲皮素、2-十三烷酮、单宁酸等4种植物次生物质分别连续饲喂3代该品系成虫和幼虫,采用药膜法测定毒力,获得抗性倍数和抗性增长率,分析明确植物次生物质种类、剂量与橘小实蝇抗药性发展之间关系。研究结果表明4种物质中较高浓度芸香苷处理橘小实蝇对敌百虫的抗性明显增强,总体呈现处理代次越多抗药性增强程度越大的趋势。F_(1)代0.05%、0.25%芸香苷剂量处理抗性倍数分别为198.05、172.13,明显高于对照(110.61),抗性增长率分别为1.79、1.56;F_(2)代0.01%、0.05%、0.25%剂量处理抗性倍数由对照的89.49分别增大至137.20、146.38、171.48,其抗性增长率分别为1.53、1.64、1.92;F_(3)代0.01%、0.05%、0.25%剂量下抗性倍数由对照的61.33分别增大至128.12、137.23、211.36,其抗性增长率明显增大(2.09、2.24、3.45)。部分浓度单宁酸处理增强或者降低了橘小实蝇对敌百虫的抗性,F1代0.002%浓度处理时抗性增长率为1.60,而F_(2)代0.25%、F_(3)代0.05%、0.25%浓度处理时抗性增长率降低至0.68、0.70和0.67。槲皮素、2-十三烷酮多个浓度处理多代均未对橘小实蝇抗敌百虫品系的抗药性产生影响。本研究显示一些植物次生物质可对橘小实蝇抗药性产生正面或者负面的影响,其作用与物质种类、浓度、接触时间等有关。

Design on hopping locomotion mechanism

A new type of locomotion mechanism is introduced in this paper. With vibrating motors used in controling the movement of the hopping locomotion mechanism, the simple hopping locomotion mechanism had two motors, when the current went through the vertical motor, the vertical motor would vibrate to cause the mechanism to go forward, and when the current went through the horizontal motor, the mechanism will go around itself. A spring was added to the mechanism to change the natural frequency of the mechanism, when the frequency of the motor was equal to the natural frequency of the mechanism, the mechanism would hop resonantly. With the resonant hopping, the load of the mechanism was greatly enlarged, and some sensors could be added to the mechanism. Optical sensors were used to detect the infrared source, the current that went through the sensors related to the distance between the infrared light. Three optical sensors was put on the left, right and the front the mechanism, when the mechanism detect the special infrared source, it would turn itself to the light, and go forward to the light. The experiments of the mechanism shown that the mechanism could work well on different surfaces freely, and the resonant hopping locomotion mechanism with infrared sensors could move to the special light by automatic regulation. Experimental results and theoretical studies demonstrate that the innovative design for hopping locomotion mechanism is superior.

Market Incentive Index for Studying Equilibrium Between Vertically Linked Oligopolistic Electricity and Fuel Markets

A new index, called the market incentive index is proposed for studying the equilibrium between fuel and electricity markets. Firstly, a game theoretic model with a monopolistic upstream fuel market and an oligopolistic downstream electricity market is introduced. It is a simple model that can represent strategic interactions between the two vertically linked markets. Secondly, the market equilibrium is studied for deriving out the index, in which interaction relationships between the two markets are explained analytically with three lemmas and demonstrated with numerical examples. Based on the three preceding lemmas, the market equilibrium is further studied by the index. The study shows that, even for the very complicated interactions between fuel producers and electricity producers, some insights on the market equilibrium can be developed with the index. The index-based method can be used as a very intuitionistic way to study the impact of fuel price on the market equilibrium. Thus, it is a new useful method for analysis of strategic behaviors in the equilibrium.

Perovskite-type oxygen-permeable membrane reactors of BaCo0.7Fe0.2Nb0.1O3-δ （BCFNO） packed with Ru-based catalyst had high oxygen permeability and could be used for hydrogen production by partial oxidation of methane in coke oven gas （COG）. At 1173 K, 94% of methane conversion, 85% of H2 selectivity, 107% of CO selectivity, and as high as 15.4 mL·cm^-2·min^-1 of oxygen permeation flux were obtained. The BCFNO membrane itself had poor catalytic activity to partial oxidation of CH4 in COG. During continuous operation for 70 h at 1173 K, no degradation of the membrane reaction performance was observed. XRD and SEM characterization also demonstrated that the BCFNO membrane reactor exhibited good stability in partial oxidation of methane in COG.

Sinter-locked microfibrous networks consisting of -3 vol.% of 8 p.m （dia.） nickel microfibers have been utilized to entrap -30vo1.% of 100-200 μm dia. porous AI203. ZnO and CaO were then highly dispersed onto the pore surface of entrapped A1203 by the incipient wetness impregnation method. Due to the unique combination of surface area, pore size/particle size, thermal conductivity, and void volume, the resulting microfibrous catalyst composites provided significant improvement of catalytic bed reactivity and utilization efficiency when used in methanol steam reforming. Roughly 260 mL/min of reformate, comprising 〉70% H2, 〈5% CO and trace CH4, with 〉97% methanol conversion, could be produced in a I cm3 bed volume of our novel microfihrous entrapped ZnO-CaO/Al2O3 catalyst composite at 470℃ with a high weight hourly space velocity （WHSV） of 15 h-1 using steam/methanol （1.3/1） mixture as feedstock. Compared to a packed bed of 100-200μm ZnO-CaO/Al2O3, our composite bed provided a doubling of the reactor throughput with a halving of catalyst usage.
