Measurement of the neutron-induced total cross sections of ^(nat)Pb from 0.3 eV to 20 MeV on the Back-n at CSNS

The neutron-induced total cross sections of natural lead have been measured in a wide energy range(0.3 eV-20 MeV)on the back-streaming white neutron beamline(Back-n)at the China Spallation Neutron *** energy was determined by the neutron total cross-section spectrometer using the time-of-flight technique.A fast multi-cell fission chamber was used as the neutron detector,and a 10-mm-thick high-purity natural lead sample was employed for the neutron transmission *** on-beam background was determined using Co,In,Ag,and Cd *** excitation function of ^(nat)Pb(n,tot)reaction below 20 MeV was calculated using the TALYS-1.96 nuclear-reaction modeling *** present results were compared with previous results,the evaluated data available in the five major evaluated nuclear data libraries(i.e.,ENDF/B-VIII.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-5,CENDL-3.2,and BROND-3.1),and the theoretical calculation *** agreement was found between the new results and those of previous experiments and with the theoretical curves in the corresponding *** measurement obtained the neutron total cross section of natural lead with good accuracy over a wide energy range and added experimental data in the resonance energy *** provides more reliable experimental data for nuclear engineering design and nuclear data evaluation of lead.

Association of cardiometabolic multimorbidity with all-cause and cardiovascular disease mortality among Chinese hypertensive patients

BACKGROUND Hypertension usually clusters with multiple ***,the association between cardiometabolic multimorbidity(CMM)and mortality in hypertensive patients is *** study aimed to investigate the association between CMM and all-cause and cardiovascular disease(CVD)mortality in Chinese patients with *** The data used in this study were from the China National Survey for Determinants of Detection and Treatment Status of Hypertensive Patients with Multiple Risk Factors(CONSIDER),which comprised 5006 participants aged 19–91 *** was defined as the presence of one or more of the following morbidities:diabetes mellitus,dyslipidemia,chronic kidney disease,coronary heart disease,and *** proportional hazard models were used to calculate the hazard ratios(HR)with 95%CI to determine the association between the number of CMMs and both all-cause and CVD *** Among 5006 participants[mean age:58.6±10.4 years,50%women(2509 participants)],76.4%of participants had at least one *** mortality rate was 4.57,4.76,8.48,and 16.04 deaths per 1000 person-years in hypertensive patients without any comorbidity and with one,two,and three or more morbidities,*** the fully adjusted model,hypertensive participants with two cardiometabolic diseases(HR=1.52,95%CI:1.09–2.13)and those with three or more cardiometabolic diseases(HR=2.44,95%CI:1.71–3.48)had a significantly elevated risk of all-cause *** findings were similar for CVD mortality but with a greater increase in risk *** In this study,three-fourths of hypertensive patients had *** with two or more comorbidities was associated with a significant increase in the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among hypertensive patients,suggesting more intensive treatment and control in this high-risk patient group.

Nondestructive and noninvasive neutron assays are essential applications of neutron *** resonance transmission analysis(NRTA)is a powerful nondestructive method for investigating the elemental composition of an *** back-streaming neutron line(Back-n)is a newly built time-of-flight facility at the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)that provides neutrons in the eV to 300 MeV range.A feasibility study of the NRTA method for nuclide identification was conducted at the CSNS Back-n via two test *** results demonstrate that it is feasible to identify different elements and isotopes in samples using the NRTA method at *** study reveals its potential future applications.

Neutron resonance imaging(NRI)has recently emerged as an appealing technique for neutron *** complexity surpasses that of conventional transmission imaging,as it requires a high demand for both a neutron source and ***,the progression of NRI technology has been sluggish since its inception in the 1980s,particularly considering the limited studies analyzing the neutron energy range above *** white neutron source(Back-n)at the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)provides favorable beam conditions for the development of the NRI technique over a wide neutron energy range from eV to ***-sensitive microchannel plates(MCP)have emerged as a cutting-edge tool in the field of neutron detection owing to their high temporal and spatial resolutions,high detection efficiency,and low *** this study,we report the development of a 10B-doped MCP detector,along with its associated electronics,data processing system,and NRI experiments at the *** heavy elements such as gold,silver,tungsten,and indium can be easily identified in the transmission images by their characteristic resonance peaks in the 1–100 eV energy range;the more difficult medium-weight elements such as iron,copper,and aluminum with resonance peaks in the 1–100 keV energy range can also be *** particular,results in the neutron energy range of dozens of keV(Aluminum)are reported here for the first time.

Neutron-sensitive microchannel plates(nMCPs)have applications in neutron detection,including energy spectrum measurements,neutron-induced cross sections,and neutron imaging.10B-doped MCPs(B-MCPs)have attracted significant attention owing to their potential for exhibiting a high neutron detection efficiency over a large neutron energy *** spatial and temporal resolutions are useful for neutron energy-resolved ***,their practical applications still face many technical *** this study,a B-MCP with 10 mol%10B was tested for its response to wide-energy neutrons from eV to MeV at the Back-n white neutron source at the China Spallation Neutron *** neutron detection efficiency was calibrated at 1 eV,which is approximately 300 times that of an ordinary MCP and indicates the success of 10 B *** factors that caused the reduction in the detection efficiency were simulated and *** neutron energy spectrum obtained using B-MCP was compared with that obtained by other measurement methods,and showed very good consistency for neutron energies below tens of *** response is more complicated at higher neutron energy,at which point the elastic and nonelastic reactions of all nuclides of B-MCP gradually become *** is beneficial for the detection of neutrons,as it compensates for the detection efficiency of B-MCP for high-energy neutrons.

Speckle reduction by selective spatial-domain mask in digital holography

An improved method of using a selective spatial-domain mask to reduce speckle noise in digital holography is *** sub-holograms are obtained from the original hologram filtered by the binary masks including a shifting aperture for being reconstructed. Normally, the speckle patterns of these sub-reconstructed images are different. The speckle intensity of the final reconstructed image is suppressed by averaging the favorable sub-reconstructed images which are selected based on the most optimal pixel intensity sub-range in the sub-holograms. Compared with the conventional spatial-domain mask method, the proposed method not only reduces the speckle noise more effectively with fewer sub-reconstructed images,but also reduces the redundant information used in the reconstruction process.

Spectral Selectivity of CdTe Cells with Substrate Configuration for Photovoltaic/Thermal Applications

Existing photovoltaic cells with high infrared emissivity generate huge radiative heat loss in photovoltaic/thermal applications and degrade the photothermal *** purpose of this work is to evaluate the full spectral absorptivity of CdTe cells to find a spectrally selective photovoltaic cell for photovoltaic/thermal *** this end,the solar absorptivity and mid-infrared thermal emissivity of CdTe cells were tested by ellipsometry,UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer,and Fourier transform infrared *** experimental results show that the AM 1.5 solar spectrum weighted absorptivity of the substrate configuration CdTe cell reaches 0.91,and the mid-infrared emissivity is only 0.29,while the superstrate configuration cell emissivity is as high as *** research shows that substrate configuration with a transparent conductive layer on top can be flexibly grown on metal foils and has spectral selectivity with high solar absorptivity and low mid-infrared emissivity should be considered in the future for photovoltaic/thermal applications.

Numerical modeling of fracture propagation of supercritical CO_(2)compound fracturing

The exploitation of shale gas is promising due to depletion of the conventional energy and intensification of the greenhouse *** this paper,we proposed a heat-fluid-solid coupling damage model of supercritical CO_(2)(SC-CO_(2))compound fracturing which is expected to be an efficient and environmentally friendly way to develop shale *** coupling model is solved by the finite element method,and the results are in good agreement with the analytical solutions and fracturing *** on this model,the fracture propagation characteristics at the two stages of compound fracturing are studied and the influence of pressurization rate,in situ stress,bedding angle,and other factors are *** results show that at the SC-CO_(2)fracturing stage,a lower pressurization rate is conducive to formation of the branches around main fractures,while a higher pressurization rate inhibits formation of the branches around main fractures and promotes formation of the main *** bedding and in situ stress play a dominant role in the fracture *** the in situ stress ratio(δ_(x)/δ_(y))is 1,the presence of bedding can reduce the initiation pressure and failure ***,it will cause the fracture to propagate along the bedding direction,reducing the fracture *** rocks without bedding,hydraulic fracturing has the lengthening and widening effects for SC-CO_(2)induced *** shale,fractures induced at the hydraulic fracturing stage are more likely to be dominated by in situ stresses and have a shorter reorientation ***,fracture branches propagating along the maximum principal stress direction may be generated around the main fractures induced by SC-CO_(2)at the hydraulic fracturing *** the branches converge with the main fractures,fracture zones are easily formed,and thus the fracture complexity and damage area can be significantly *** results are instructive for the design and application of SC

OBJECTIVE To describe the duration of the pre-hospital delay time and identify factors associated with prolonged pre-hospital delay in patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI)in *** Data were collected from November 2014 to December 2019 as part of the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Dis-ease in China-Acute Coronary Syndrome(CCC-ACS)project.A total of 33,386 patients with AMI admitted to the index hospitals were included in this ***-level logistic regression was conducted to explore the factors associated with the pre-hospital delay and the associations between different pre-hospital delay and in-hospital *** Of the 33,386 patients with AMI,70.7%of patients arrived at hospital≥2 h after symptom *** age,female,ru-ral medical insurance,symptom onset at early dawn,and non-use of an ambulance predicted a prolonged pre-hospital delay(all P<0.05).Hypertension and heart failure at admission were only significant in predicting a longer delay in patients with ST-seg-ment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)(all P<0.05).A pre-hospital delay of≥2 h was associated with an increased risk of mortality[odds ratio(OR)=1.36,95%CI:1.09-1.69,P=0.006]and major adverse cardiovascular events(OR=1.22,95%CI:1.02-1.47,P=0.033)in patients with STEMI compared with a pre-hospital delay of<2 *** Prolonged pre-hospital delay is associated with adverse in-hospital outcomes in patients with STEMI in *** study identifies that patient characteristics,symptom onset time,and type of transportation are associated with pre-hospital delay time,and provides focuses for quality improvement.
