Songkhla Lagoon in southern Thailand is a large lagoon with brackish water where the mysid Nanomysis siamensis *** has long been the dominant mysid species in this ***,nothing is known about the biology and ecology of *** for the first time,we provide information about its demographic structure and reproductive biology in the Songkhla Lagoon *** conducted monthly sampling from June 2017 to June 2018 at five stations in Thale Sap and seven stations in Thale Sap *** were classified into six *** monthly mean density ranged 8.44-807.33 inds./100 m^(2) in Thale Sap and 8.81-434.44 inds./100 m^(2) in Thale Sap *** peak occurrence of this species was in May 2018 in Thale *** population composition was as follows:juvenile 10.13%,immature males 13.45%,immature females 10.54%,mature males 26.19%,mature females 21.63%and ovigerous females 18.05%.The proportion of ovigerous females was statistically significant and brooding females in the nauplioid stage were more dominant than embryonic phase and post-nauplioid *** size varied from 1 to 17,the embryo diameter ranging from 0.2 to 0.4 mm and the lengths of the larvae ranged from 0.5 to 1.0 *** was a positive correlation between brood size and brood length with ovigerous female body ***,mature males were predominant over the five population composition types,and reproduction in *** was observed every month.

In this paper we introduce an extension of the half-normal distribution in order to model a great variety of non-negative data. Its hazard rate function can be decreasing or increasing, depending on its parameters. Some properties of this new distribution are presented. For example, we give a general expression for the moments and a stochastic representation. Also, the cumulative distribution function, the hazard rate function, the survival function and the quantile function can be easily evaluated. Maximum likelihood estimators can be computed by using numerical procedures. Finally, a real-life dataset has been presented to illustrate its applicability.

The use of traditional medicine(TM)is essential for preventing and treating diseases and thus improving human ***,TM has been used since time *** Tanzania,the use of TM was most common during precolonial era before it was discriminated during the Germany colonial ***,it regained the attention during the private sector emergence era(1985-2004).Currently,there are ongoing efforts to integrate TM and modern medicine to improve healthcare systems in developing countries for sustainable healthcare *** review aims to provide an overview of the historical and current status,challenges,and future direction for TM in *** analysis revealed that the development of TM was somehow underdeveloped during the colonial rule but regained its popularity after ***,there are many opportunities such as the presence of legal and institutional frameworks,a varied medicinal biodiversity,with some of them being endemic to Tanzania,political will *** the available opportunities,there are numerous challenges to the development and use of *** include inadequate financial and human resources for research,poor conservation of medicinal biodiversity;modernization;intellectual property rights of TM knowledge;lack of safety,efficacy,and quality data of medicinal *** development and utility of TM as a resource is crucial to protect ***,the study recommends more capacity building in terms of finances,technology development,human resources training,advocacy and integration of TM into healthcare system.

As other causes decline in importance,chromium-tanned leather has become a more important source for chromium allergy,which affects around 1%of the general *** aim of this review is to give suggestions on how to minimize the risk of leather-related allergic contact dermatitis,which can be elicited in chromiumallergic persons by hexavalent and trivalent chromium released from *** chromium is the more potent chromium form and requires a lower skin dose to elicit allergic *** is formed on the surface of some,antioxidant-free,leathers at dry conditions(<35% relative humidity)and is influenced by the tanning process and other conditions,such as UV irradiation,contact with alkaline solutions,and leather *** chromium is the dominant form released from chromium-tanned leather and its released amount is sufficient to elicit allergic reactions in some chromium-allergic individuals when they are exposed repetitively and over longer time(days-months).A low initial test result(<3 mg/kg)for hexavalent chromium with the current standard test(ISO 17075)does not guarantee a low release of chromium from the leather or a low release of hexavalent chromium under typical exposure conditions during the service life of the ***,labels,and certificates regarding leather products are often insufficient to protect chromium-allergic *** labelling and information on the possible content of different allergens,as well as different tanning alternatives for certain leather products,are crucial.

The last decade has witnessed a growing appreciation of the fundamental role played by an early assembly of a diverse and balanced gut microbiota and its subsequent maintenance for future health of the host. Gut microbiota is currently viewed as a key regulator of a fluent bidirectional dialogue between the gut and the brain(gut-brain axis). A number of preclinical studies have suggested that the microbiota and its genome(microbiome) may play a key role in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Furthermore, alterations in the gut microbiota composition in humans have also been linked to a variety of neuropsychiatric conditions, including depression, autism and Parkinson's disease. However, it is not yet clear whether these changes in the microbiome are causally related to such diseases or are secondary effects thereof. In this respect, recent studies in animals have indicated that gut microbiota transplantation can transfer a behavioral phenotype, suggesting that the gut microbiota may be a modifiable factor modulating the development or pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric conditions. Further studies are warranted to establish whether or not the findings of preclinical animal experiments can be generalized to humans. Moreover, although different communication routes between the microbiota and brain have been identified, further studies must elucidate all the underlying mechanisms involved. Such research is expected to contribute to the design of strategies to modulate the gut microbiota and its functions with a view to improving mental health, and thus provide opportunities to improve the management of psychiatric diseases. Here, we review the evidence supporting a role of the gut microbiota in neuropsychiatric disorders and the state of the art regarding the mechanisms underlying its contribution to mental illness and health. Roundabouts are very useful when flows are balanced but can have operational challenges when flows *** roundabouts on arterial roadways in Ghana experience recurring congestion during peak *** four roundabouts between Ejisu Municipality and Asokwa Municipality on the N6 highway are typical of the situation found on arterials *** experience recurring long queues and delays during the peak hours and over-representation of truck rollover *** Ghana,historically,most roundabouts with capacity problems have been developed into interchanges at very high cost without consideration of other effective at-grade *** roundabouts are signalized,various configurations can be explored to enhance capacity while preserving the safety *** simulation techniques,various configurations and design options were tested for their effectiveness at two of the roundabouts,located at KNUST police station and Ejisu,with similar demand and high left turning *** objectives of this study were to a)evaluate the performance of the selected roundabouts on the corridor;b)explore alternative intersection configurations to improve capacity and *** video data collection techniques,2-h time stamped footages of AM and PM peak traffic flows were captured for two *** design parameters of the existing roundabouts,queue lengths,travel times,and approach flows were also *** models of the selected roundabouts were developed and calibrated for the baseline *** unconventional roundabout configuration,with a phase for major road through traffic were simulated and assessed for capacity,delay and queue *** results showed that signalized roundabout intersections effectively increased capacity by as much as 50%in some cases,reduced delay and queue length significantly,and maintained the benefits of roundabouts including *** performance could be further enhanced by introducing separate

International disaster databases and catalogs provide a baseline for researchers,governments,communities,and organizations to understand the risk of a particular place,analyze broader trends in disaster risk,and justify investments in *** because Singapore is routinely identified as one of the safest countries in the world,Singapore’s past disasters have not been studied extensively with few events captured in major global databases such as *** this article,we fill the disaster data gap for postwar Singapore(1950–2020)using specified metrics through an archival search,review of literature,and analysis of secondary *** present four key lessons from cataloging these ***,we expand Singapore’s disaster catalog to 39 events in this time period and quantify the extent of this data ***,we identify the mitigating actions that have followed past events that contribute to Singapore’s present-day ***,we discuss how these past events uncover continuities among vulnerability bearers in ***,we identify limitations of a disaster catalog when considering future *** expanding the disaster catalog,this case study of Singapore supports the need for comprehensive understanding of past disasters in order to examine current and future disaster resilience.

Cerebrovascular diseases are considered to be amongst the most serious public health issues,since they are the third leading cause of death（WHO,2014）and the most common cause of disability *** monetary significance is evidenced by the economic burden imposed on health care systems,given that the cost of medical care for a patient that has suffered a stroke is around$25,741US dollars every 5 years（Luengo-Fernandez et al.,2012）.A stroke occurs as a result of a disturbance or interruption of cerebral blood flow that significantly reduces the supply of oxygen and glucose to the neural tissue. Consequently, several cell death mechanisms （secondary lesion mechanisms） such as necrosis, excitotoxicity, free radical production and inflammation are triggered （Castillo, 2000）.

Automatic Detection of Nephrops Norvegicus Burrows from Underwater Imagery Using Deep Learning

The Norway lobster,Nephrops norvegicus,is one of the main commercial crustacean fisheries in *** abundance of Nephrops norvegicus stocks is assessed based on identifying and counting the burrows where they live from underwater videos collected by camera systems mounted on *** Spanish Oceanographic Institute(IEO)andMarine Institute Ireland(MIIreland)conducts annual underwater television surveys(UWTV)to estimate the total abundance of Nephrops within the specified area,with a coefficient of variation(CV)or relative standard error of less than 20%.Currently,the identification and counting of the Nephrops burrows are carried out manually by the marine *** is quite a time-consuming *** a solution,we propose an automated system based on deep neural networks that automatically detects and counts the Nephrops burrows in video footage with high *** proposed system introduces a deep-learning-based automated way to identify and classify the Nephrops *** research work uses the current state-of-the-art Faster RCNN models Inceptionv2 and MobileNetv2 for object detection and *** conduct experiments on two data sets,namely,the Smalls Nephrops survey(FU 22)and Cadiz Nephrops survey(FU 30),collected by Marine Institute Ireland and Spanish Oceanographic Institute,*** the results,we observe that the Inception model achieved a higher precision and recall rate than *** best mean Average Precision(mAP)recorded by the Inception model is 81.61%compared to MobileNet,which achieves the best mAP of 75.12%.
