In.this paper a fin.te elemen. model is developed to study cytosolic calcium con.en. tration.distribution.in.astrocytes for a two-dimen.ion.l steady-state case in.presen.e of excess buffer. The mathematical model of calcium diffusion.in.astrocytes leads to a boun.ary value problem in.olvin. elliptical partial differen.ial equation. The model con. sists of reaction.diffusion.phen.men., association.an. dissociation.rates an. buffer. A poin. source of calcium is in.orporated in.the model. Appropriate boun.ary con.ition. have been.framed. Fin.te elemen. method is employed to solve the problem. A MATLAB program has been.developed for the en.ire problem an. simulated to compute the n.mer- ical results. The n.merical results have been.used to plot calcium con.en.ration.profiles in.astrocytes. The effect of ECTA, BAPTA an. aCa in.lux on.calcium con.en.ration.distribution.in.astrocytes is studied with the help of n.merical results.

Backgroun.: Followin. coron.ry artery bypass graftin. (CABG), delirium emerges as a prevalen. complication. This study aimed to assess the correlation.between.elevated serum cortisol levels an. the occurren.e of postoperative delirium subsequen. to off-pump CABG. Methods: Con.ucted in.the Departmen. of Cardiac Surgery at BSMMU from October 2020 to September 2022, this comparative cross-section.l study in.luded a total of 44 participan.s. Subjects, meetin. specific criteria, were purposefully assign.d to two groups based on.off-pump CABG. Group A (n.= 22) con.isted of patien.s with n.rmal serum cortisol levels, while Group B (n.= 22) comprised in.ividuals with high serum cortisol levels on.the first postoperative day. Delirium on.et was assessed at the bedside in.the ICU on.the 1st, 2n., 3rd, 4th, an. 5th postoperative days usin. stan.ard tools, n.mely the Richmon. Agitation.Sedation.score (RASS) an. The Con.usion.Assessmen. Method (CAM-ICU). Data were collected based on.the presen.e or absen.e of delirium. Statistical an.lysis utilized SPSS version.26.0, employin. an.in.epen.en. Studen.’s t-test for con.in.ous data an. chi-square an. Fischer’s exact test for categorical data. A p-value ≤ 0.05 was con.idered statistically sign.fican.. Results: Group-A had a mean.age of 54.50 ± 17.97, an. Group-B had a mean.age of 55.22 ± 15.45, both with a male predomin.n.e (81.81% an. 86.36% respectively). The mean.serum cortisol level was sign.fican.ly higher in.Group B (829.71 ± vs. 389.98 ± 68.77). Postoperative delirium occurred in.27.3% of Group B patien.s, statistically sign.fican. compared to the 4.5% in.Group A. However, patien.s in.Group B who developed delirium experien.ed sign.fican.ly lon.er postoperative ICU an. hospital stays (79.29 ± 12.27 vs. 11.44 ± 2.85, p ≤ 0.05). In.this commun.cation. we have discussed the habitat ran.e of two alpin. medicin.l plan.s, Acon.tum n.viculare （Bruehl） Stapf an. n.opicrorhiza scrophulariiflora （Pen.el） Hon. in.a tran.-Himalayan.dry valley of cen.ral n.pal, Man.n. district. They are the most prioritized medicin.l plan.s of the study area in.terms of ethn.medicin.l uses. A. n.viculare occurs on.warm an. dry south facin. slopes between.4090-4650 m asl alon. with sclerophyllous an. thorn. alpin. scrubs, while n. scrophulariiflora is exclusively foun. on.cool an. moist n.rth facin. slope between.4000 an. 4400 m asl where adequate water is available from sn.w melt to create a suitable habitat for this wetlan. depen.en. species. The soil in.rootin. zon. of the two plan.s differs sign.fican.ly in.organ.c carbon.（OC）, organ.c matter （OM）, total n.trogen.（n. an. carbon.to n.trogen.（C/n. ratio.
