BACKGROUND Hilar masses with stenosis of the bronchus occur mainly due to malignant diseases,such as lung *** masses resulting from invasive aspergillosis are extremely rare and occur mostly in severely immunosuppressed *** SUMMARY In the current case report,we have documented a unique case of invasive aspergillosis presenting as a mass in the hilum and bronchial stenosis under bronchoscopy mimicking lung cancer in a 54-year-old man with diabetes *** histological analysis of bronchial membrane biopsy demonstrated fungal elements of 45°branching hyphae with positive Periodic Acid-Schiff and Grocott *** 3 mo of antifungal therapy,the symptoms,computed tomography scan and bronchoscopy manifestations all showed *** We highlight that clinicians should consider a diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis when radiological examination shows pseudotumor appearance in diabetes mellitus patients.

Thermal and salt dual stimuli-responsive filter-paper-based membranes were prepared by UV-induced grafting of NIPAM-based polymers on paper surface. The grafting ratio could be controlled by monomer concentration during grafting polymerization. The results from pressure drop measurement of the mobile phase flowed cross the membrane demonstrate that an appropriate grafting ratio would be 8%-10%. Protein adsorption on the membrane through hydrophobic interaction could be promoted by increasing temperature and lyotropic salt concentration. The effect of grafted polymer structure on protein binding performance was studied. Filter paper grafted with NIPAM-based branched copolymer consisting of hydrophobic monomer moieties shows ten times higher protein binding capacity than that of the original filter paper. The separation of plasma proteins using the dual stimuli-responsive membrane was examined to demonstrate feasible application for hydrophobic interaction chromatographic separation of proteins.

One-step hydrothermal synthesis of hierarchical Ag/Bi_2WO_6 composites: In situ growth monitoring and photocatalytic activity studies

Hierarchical Ag/Bi2WO6 nanomaterials were prepared by a facile one-step hydrothermal method in mixed acetic acid and ethylene glycol (EG) medium. EG is employed as mild reducing agent for the formation of metallic Ag from Ag+ precursors. In situ energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXRD) monitoring showed that the hydrothermal formation kinetics of Bi2WO6 in the presence of EG was significantly slowed down due to its very high viscosity. The photocatalytic activities of Ag/Bi2WO6 composites were evaluated by the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of Bi2WO6 is strongly influenced by the Ag loading. The enhanced catalytic activity of the composites is based on the cooperative effects of plasmon absorption band and separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs.

The application of a mixture of bentazone(3-isopropyl-1H-2,1,3-benzothiadiazin-4(3H)-one-2,2-dioxide)and atrazine (6-chloro-N2-ethyl-N4-isopropyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine)is a practical approach to enhance the herbicidal ***- ratory incubation experiments were performed to study the degradation of bentazone and atrazine applied in combination and individually in maize rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere *** a lag phase,the degradation of each individual herbicide in the non-autoclaved soil could be adequately described using a first-order kinetic *** a 30-d in- cubation,in the autoclaved rhizosphere soil,bentazone and atrazine did not noticeably degrade,but in the non-autoclaved soil,they rapidly degraded in both non-rhizosphere and rhizosphere soils with half-lives of 19.9 and 20.2 d for bentazone and 29.1 and 25.7 d for atrazine,*** rhizosphere effect significantly enhanced the degradation of atrazine, but had no significant effect on *** results indicated that biological degradation accounted for the degrada- tion of both herbicides in the *** compared with the degradation of the herbicide applied alone,the degradation rates of the herbicides applied in combination in the soils were lower and the lag phase *** the addition of a surfactant,Tween-20,a reduced lag phase of degradation was observed for both herbicides applied in combination. The degradation rate of bentazone accelerated,whereas that of atrazine remained nearly ***,when these two herbicides were used simultaneously,their persistence in the soil was generally prolonged,and the environmental contamination potential increased.

Si hybrid solar cells have attracted tremendous research attention in recent years because of their low production costs and high performance. However, flexible Si hybrid solar cells have rarely been reported owing to the difficulty of fabricating single-crystalline Si with good flexibility. In this study, we fabricated flexible Si/PEDOT：PSS hybrid solar cells with micro-pyramid-structured Si light absorbers using a facile approach. Compared with planar flexible hybrid solar cells with a power-conversion efficiency of 4%, solar cells with micro-pyramid-structured Si light absorbers have a higher efficiency of 6.3%. External quantum efficiency and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed that the solar cells with micro-pyramid-structured Si light absorbers exhibited a pronounced light-harvesting enhancement in the spectra region of 400-1,000 nm and had a smaller series resistance and larger recombination resistance compared with the planar cells, yielding a higher efficiency. Additionally, in mechanical-bending tests, the flexible solar cells with micro-pyramid-structured Si light absorbers exhibited an excellent performance stability after bending for 600 cycles. Our findings lay the foundation for the real-world applications of flexible Si/PEDOT：PSS hybrid solar cells in next-generation portable electronics.

Bioleaching of oil shale by Bacillus mucilaginosus was carried out in a reaction column for 13 d. The pH value of the leaching liquor decreased steadily from 7.5 to 5.5 and the free silicon dioxide concentration reached approximately 200 mg/L in it. Scanning electron microscopy（SEM） observations revealed that a mass of small particles separated from the matrix of oil shale. Energy dispersive spectrometry（EDS） analysis implied that the total content of Si,O, A1 was decreased in the particle area of the matrix. These facts indicate that the silicate was removed, leading to the structural transformation of oil shale. Comparison of the shale oil yields before and after bioleaching illustrated that approximately 10% extra shale oil was obtained. This finding suggests that the demineralisation of the oil shale by silicate bacteria improves shale oil yield.

Efficacy and safety of intravenous itraconazole followed by oral itraconazole solution in the treatment of invasive pulmonary mycosis

Background Invasive pulmonary mycosis is the most common type of invasive fungal infection. It is often severe and difficult to treat, and is accompanied by high mortality. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous itraconazole followed by oral itraconazole solution in the treatment of invasive pulmonary mycosis and to determine the distribution of different fungi species. Methods This was a multi-center, open-label study which enrolled 71 patients who were diagnosed as invasive pulmonary mycosis between July 2007 and January 2009. All patients received intravenous itraconazole therapy followed by oral itraconazole solution with a total treatment duration of 6 weeks. Intravenous itraconazole was given at a dose of 200 mg bid （intravenous infusion every 12 hours） for the first two days, 200 mg qd for the subsequent 12 days. Sequential oral itraconazole solution was given at a dose of 100 mg bid for 4 weeks. Efficacy and safety were assessed according to clinical as well as microbiological criteria. Results Seventy one patients participated in this study. Of the 60 patients in the full analysis dataset, the clinical response rate was 61.7% and the mycological eradication rate was 66.7%. The overall response rate was 66.7%. Drug-related adverse events occurred in 18.0% of patients： hypokalemia, liver function impairment and mild gastrointestinal side effects were the most common. One patient suffered from severe adverse event, with limb and facial swelling. Conclusion This study showed that in patients with invasive pulmonary mycosis, intravenous itraconazole followed by oral itraconazole solution therapy was safe and effective.

Twelve S-substituted 7-mercapto-4-methylcoumarin analogs were synthesized and evaluated for the inhibition to HBV in HepG2 2.***.1.5 cell. Among them, ten compounds exhibited potent inhibition to HBsAg and/or HBeAg with the IC50 values of sub μmol/L level. The ICso of anti-HBsAg activities of 5c and 5j reached 0.01 μmol/L respectively which were 16 fold more potent than that of 3TC. Compounds 3, 5e, 5g, 5h and 5i showed admirable inhibitory activity to both HBsAg and HBeAg. The bioassay results indicated the S-substituted 7-mercapto-4-methylcoumarin analogs merit attention as novel anti-HBV agents.
