Designing metal-organic framework fiber network reinforced polymer electrolytes to provide continuous ion transport in solid state lithium metal batteries

Polyethylene oxide(PEO)-based solid-state electrolytes are considered ideal for electrolyte materials in solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).However,practical applications are hindered by the lower conductivity and poor interfacial stability.Here,we propose a strategy to construct a three-dimensional(3D)fiber network of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs).Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)with continuous ion transport pathways were fabricated by filling a PEO polymer matrix in fibers containing interconnected MOFs.This 3D fiber network provides a fast Li+transport path and effectively improves the ionic conductivity(1.36×10^(-4) S·cm^(-1),30℃).In addition,the network of interconnected MOFs not only effectively traps the anions,but also provides sufficient mechanical strength to prevent the growth of Li dendrites.Benefiting from the advantages of structural design,the CSEs stabilize the Li/electrolyte interface and extend the cycle life of the Li-symmetric cells to 3000 h.The assembled SSLMBs exhibit excellent cycling performance at both room and high temperatures.In addition,the constructed pouch cells can provide an areal capacity of 0.62 mA·h·cm^(-2),which can still operate under extreme conditions.This work provides a new strategy for the design of CSEs with continuous structure and stable operation of SSLMBs.

The biliary tract, portal vein, and systemic circulation are the anatomical linkages that enable bidirectional inter-organ communications through the gut–liver axis.(Han et al. 2023). Under physiological conditions, the proliferation of intestinal stem cells(ISCs) materializes the self-renewal of the intestinal epithelium for gut barrier integrity(van der Flier and Clevers 2009), and such crosstalk contributes to the repair capacity of the intestinal tract by accommodating the ISCs(Chen et al.2022; Hegyi et al. 2018). Nonetheless, in pathological conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),the compromised intestinal barrier caused by inflammation increases the translocation of microorganisms(Wigg et al. 2001).

BACKGROUND Myocardial infarction(MI)is a critical cardiovascular event with multifaceted etiology,involving several genetic and environmental factors.It is essential to understand the function of plasma metabolites in the development of MI and unravel its complex pathogenesis.METHODS This study employed a bidirectional Mendelian randomization(MR)approach to investigate the causal relationships between plasma metabolites and MI risk.We used genetic instruments as proxies for plasma metabolites and MI and conducted MR analyses in both directions to assess the impact of metabolites on MI risk and vice versa.In addition,the large-scale genome-wide association studies datasets was used to identify genetic variants associated with plasma metabolite(1400 metabolites)and MI(20,917 individuals with MI and 440,906 individuals without MI)susceptibility.Inverse variance weighted was the primary method for estimating causal effects.MR estimates are expressed as beta coefficients or odds ratio(OR)with 95%CI.RESULTS We identified 14 plasma metabolites associated with the occurrence of MI(P<0.05),among which 8 plasma metabolites[propionylglycine levels(OR=0.922,95%CI:0.881–0.965,P<0.001),gamma-glutamylglycine levels(OR=0.903,95%CI:0.861–0.948,P<0.001),hexadecanedioate(C16-DC)levels(OR=0.941,95%CI:0.911–0.973,P<0.001),pentose acid levels(OR=0.923,95%CI:0.877–0.972,P=0.002),X-24546 levels(OR=0.936,95%CI:0.902–0.971,P<0.001),glycine levels(OR=0.936,95%CI:0.909–0.964,P<0.001),glycine to serine ratio(OR=0.930,95%CI:0.888–0.974,P=0.002),and mannose to trans-4-hydroxyproline ratio(OR=0.912,95%CI:0.869–0.958,P<0.001)]were correlated with a decreased risk of MI,whereas the remaining 6 plasma metabolites[1-palmitoyl-2-arachidonoyl-GPE(16:0/20:4)levels(OR=1.051,95%CI:1.018–1.084,P=0.002),behenoyl dihydrosphingomyelin(d18:0/22:0)levels(OR=1.076,95%CI:1.027–1.128,P=0.002),1-stearoyl-2-docosahexaenoyl-GPE(18:0/22:6)levels(OR=1.067,95%CI:1.027–1.109,P=0.001),alpha-ketobutyrate levels(OR=1.108,95%CI:1.041–1.180,P=0.001),5-acetylamino-6-formylam

Synthetic strategy of biomimetic sea urchin-like Co-NC@PANI modified MXene-based magnetic aerogels with enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption properties

The rational and effective combination of multicomponent materials and ingenious microstructure design for efficient electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption are still challenging.In this paper,MXene was used as the aerogel matrix,modified with sea urchin-like magnetic Co/N-doped carbon@polyaniline(Co-NC@PANI),gelatin was introduced as the reinforcement phase of the aerogel backbone,and a microwave absorber with high efficiency and excellent performance was successfully prepared.The sea urchin-like Co-NC@PANI not only adjusted the impedance matching of the MXene but also introduced a magnetic loss mode into the composite.The multicomponent interfacial polarization,heterostructure,three-dimensional(3D)lightweight porous structure,and electromagnetic synergy strategy enabled the MXene-based aerogel modified by Co-NC@PANI(MCoP)to exhibit surprising EMW absorption properties.The maximum reflection loss(RL_(max))of the aerogel composite reached-62.4 dB,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)reached 6.56 GHz when the loading was only 12%.In addition,through electromagnetic simulation experiments,the change in the electromagnetic field before and after EMW passed through the materials and the distribution of the volume loss density of EMW by the coaxial ring were observed.The coordinated electromagnetic balance strategy in the 3D network provides inspiration for the construction of materials and expands the research direction of lightweight and outstanding microwave absorbers.

On Penalized Goal-Reaching Probability Minimization with a Common Shock for an AAI

The authors consider a robust optimal reinsurance and investment problem in a risk model with two dependent classes of insurance business for an Ambiguity-Averse insurer(AAI). The insurer aims to minimize the goal-reaching probability that the value of the wealth process reaches a low barrier before a high goal. Using the stochastic control approach based on the Hamilton-JacobiBellman(HJB) equation, the authors derive the robust optimal reinsurance and investment strategies,as well as the corresponding value function. The authors conclude that the robust optimal investmentreinsurance strategy coincides with the one without model ambiguity, but the value function differs. As a consequence, ignoring model uncertainty leads to significant value function loss for the AAI. Besides,it is worth noting that if the insurer has only one business, the sum of the degenerated value function and the one of(Luo, et al., 2019) is equal to 1 both for ambiguity and ambiguity-neutral. Finally,numerical examples are given to illustrate our results.

The Climate Response to Global Forest Area Changes under Different Warming Scenarios in China

Human activities have notably affected the Earth’s climate through greenhouse gases(GHG), aerosol, and land use/land cover change(LULCC). To investigate the impact of forest changes on regional climate under different shared socioeconomic pathways(SSPs), changes in surface air temperature and precipitation over China under low and medium/high radiative forcing scenarios from 2021 to 2099 are analyzed using multimodel climate simulations from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6). Results show that the climate responses to forest changes are more significant under the low radiative forcing scenario. Deforestation would increase the mean, interannual variability, and the trend of surface air temperature under the low radiative forcing scenario, but it would decrease those indices under the medium/high radiative forcing scenario. The changes in temperature show significant spatial heterogeneity. For precipitation, under the low radiative forcing scenario, deforestation would lead to a significant increase in northern China and a significant decrease in southern China, and the effects are persistent in the near term(2021–40), middle term(2041–70), and long term(2071–99). In contrast, under the medium/high radiative forcing scenario, precipitation increases in the near term and long term over most parts of China, but it decreases in the middle term, especially in southern, northern,and northeast China. The magnitude of precipitation response to deforestation remains comparatively small.

High-frame-rate contrast-enhanced ultrasound findings of liver metastasis of duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumor:A case report and literature review

BACKGROUND Liver metastasis of duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST)is rare.Most reports mainly focus on its treatment and approaches to surgical resection,while details on its contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)findings are lacking.The diagnosis and imaging modalities for this condition remain challenging.CASE SUMMARY A 53-year-old Chinese man presented with mild signs and symptoms of the digestive tract.He underwent routine examinations after GIST surgery.Magnetic resonance imaging showed a 2.3 cm hepatic space-occupying lesion.All the laboratory test results were within normal limits.For further diagnostic confirmation,we conducted high frame rate CEUS(H-CEUS)and found a malignant perfusion pattern.Heterogeneous concentric hyper-enhancement,earlier wash-in than the liver parenchyma,and two irregular vessel columns could be observed at the periphery of the lesion during the arterial phase.Ultrasound-guided puncture biopsy was used to confirm the diagnosis of the lesion as liver metastasis of duodenal GIST.Imatinib was prescribed after biopsy,and the patient’s clinical course was monitored.CONCLUSION H-CEUS is useful for detecting microcirculation differences,wash-in patterns,and vascular morphogenesis and diagnosing liver metastasis of duodenal GIST.

Effect of Carboxymethyl Cellulose(CMC) Functionalization on Dispersion, Mechanical, and Corrosion Properties of CNT/Epoxy Nanocomposites

Carbon nanotube(CNT)/epoxy nanocomposites have a great potential of possessing many advanced properties.However,the homogenization of CNT dispersion is still a great challenge in the research field of nanocomposites.This study applied a novel dispersion agent,carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC),to functionalize CNTs and improve CNT dispersion in epoxy.The effectiveness of the CMC functionalization was compared with mechanical mixing and a commonly used surfactant,sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate(Na DDBS),regarding dispersion,mechanical and corrosion properties of CNT/epoxy nanocomposites with three different CNT concentrations(0.1%,0.3%and 0.5%).The experimental results of Raman spectroscopy,particle size analysis and transmission electron microscopy showed that CMC functionalized CNTs reduced CNT cluster sizes more efficiently than Na DDBS functionalized and mechanically mixed CNTs,indicating a better CNT dispersion.The peak particle size of CMC functionalized CNTs reduced as much as 54%(0.1%CNT concentration)and 16%(0.3%CNT concentration),compared to mechanical mixed and Na DDBS functionalized CNTs.Because of the better dispersion,it was found by compressive tests that CNT/epoxy nanocomposites with CMC functionalization resulted in 189%and 66%higher compressive strength,224%and 50%higher modulus of elasticity than those with mechanical mixing and Na DDBS functionalization respectively(0.1%CNT cencentration).In addition,electrochemical corrosion tests also showed that CNT/epoxy nanocomposites with CMC functionalization achieved lowest corrosion rate(0.214 mpy),the highest corrosion resistance(201.031Ω·cm^(2)),and the lowest porosity density(0.011%).

Chylous ascites has a higher incidence after robotic surgery and is associated with poor recurrence-free survival after rectal cancer surgery

Background:Postoperative chylous ascites is an infrequent condition after colorectal surgery and is easily treatable.However,its effect on the long-term oncological prognosis is not well established.This study aimed to investigate the short-term and long-term impact of chylous ascites treated with neoadjuvant therapy followed by rectal cancer surgery and to evaluate the incidence of chylous ascites after different surgical approaches.Methods:A total of 898 locally advanced rectal cancer patients treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery between January 2010 and December 2018 were included.The clinicopathological data and outcomes of the patients with chylous ascites were compared with those of the patients without chylous ascites.The primary endpoint was recurrence-free survival(RFS).To balance baseline confounders between groups,propensity score matching(PSM)was performed for each patient with a logistic regression model.Results:Chylous ascites was detected in 3.8%(34/898)of the patients.The incidence of chylous ascites was highest after robotic surgery(6.9%,6/86),followed by laparoscopic surgery(4.2%,26/618)and open surgery(1.0%,2/192,P=0.021).The patients with chylous ascites had a significantly higher number of lymph nodes harvested(15.6 vs.12.8,P=0.009)and a 3-day longer postoperative hospital stay(P=0.017).The 5-year RFS rate was 64.5%in the chylous ascites group,which was significantly lower than the rate in the no chylous ascites group(79.9%;P=0.007).The results remained unchanged after PSM was performed.The chylous ascites group showed a nonsignificant trend towards a higher peritoneal metastasis risk(5.9%vs.1.6%,P=0.120).Univariate analysis and multivariate analysis confirmed chylous ascites(hazard ratio=3.038,P<0.001)as an independent negative prognostic factor for RFS.Conclusions:Considering the higher incidence of chylous ascites after laparoscopic and robotic surgery and its adverse prognosis,we recommend sufficient coagulation of the lymphatic tissue near the vessel origins,esp

Smoke root detection from video sequences based on multi-feature fusion

Smoke detection is the most commonly used method in early warning of fire and is widely used in forest detection.Most existing smoke detection methods contain empty spaces and obstacles which interfere with detection and extract false smoke roots.This study developed a new smoke roots search algorithm based on a multi-feature fusion dynamic extraction strategy.This determines smoke origin candidate points and region based on a multi-frame discrete confidence level.The results show that the new method provides a more complete smoke contour with no background interference,compared to the results using existing methods.Unlike video-based methods that rely on continuous frames,an adaptive threshold method was developed to build the judgment image set composed of non-consecutive frames.The smoke roots origin search algorithm increased the detection rate and significantly reduced false detection rate compared to existing methods.
