Effectiveness and safety of secukinumab in Chinese patients with plaque psoriasis in a clinical practice setting:a pilot study

To the Editor:Psoriasis is a chronic,recurrent,systemic,immune-mediated inflammatory disease that mainly affects the skin,nails,and *** psoriasis is the most common type of psoriasis,accounting for more than 80%to 90%of all ***,a human IgG monoclonal antibody that antagonizes interleukin 17A(IL-17A),was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2015 to treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.A Chinese multicenter,double-blind,placebo-controlled phase III randomized clinical trial(RCT)demonstrated excellent efficacy and safety.[1]Secukinumab has been available on the Chinese market since May 2019,with a recommended dose of 300 *** is well-known that RCTs,due to their rigorous,normalized design schemes,cannot fully reflect what happens in clinical practice *** concept of the"efficacy-effectiveness gap"was also introduced,[2]which supports the importance of real-world ***,we retrospectively summarized all the inpatients with plaque psoriasis who were treated with secukinumab at Peking University Third Hospital from June to December *** information(sex,age,weight,body mass index,etc.)and clinical features(disease duration,family history,comorbidities,laboratory tests,previous treatments,concomitant treatments,etc.)were collected from clinical *** psoriasis area severity index(PASI),body surface area(BSA),dermatology life quality index(DLQI),psoriasis scalp severity index(PSSI),nail psoriasis severity index(NAPSI),and palmoplantar psoriasis area and severity index(ppPASI)were also recorded.

High-entropy oxide-supported platinum nanoparticles for efficient hydrogen evolution reaction

High-entropy oxides(HEOs)are a new class of single-phase structures with unique electronic and catalytic properties;therefore,it is worthwhile to explore their applications in *** this study,a Pt/(FeCoNiCrAl)_(3)O_(4)nanohybrid using HEO as a support was developed as an efficient catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Pt/(FeCoNiCrAl)_(3)O_(4)exhibited high HER activity with a low overpotential of 22 mV at10 mA·cm^(-2),outperforming other binary,ternary,and quaternary *** HER activity of Pt/(FeCoNiCrAl)_(3)O_(4)was higher than that of a commercial Pt/C with a significantly lower Pt *** catalyst exhibited good activity and long-term stability(60 h)in an electrolytic water-splitting *** good activity can be attributed to the fact that the introduction of Pt effectively facilitates electronic interactions between Pt and the *** addition,the HEO substrate was more favorable for dispersing Pt particles,optimizing the electrochemical specific surface area,and significantly reducing the charge resistance of the *** study extends the application of HEOs in electrocatalysis and demonstrates the promising prospects of HEOs as supports for electrocatalysts.

Benefit-Risk Assessment of Chinese Medicine Injections for Primary Liver Cancer Based on Multi-criteria Decision Analysis

ObjectiveTo evaluate the benefit-risk of 3 commonly used Chinese medicine injections, Aidi Injection (ADI), Cinobufagin Injection (CINI) and Compound Kushen Injection (CKI), in the treatment of primary liver cancer (PLC), so as to provide a reference for clinical *** controlled trials (RCTs) of ADI, CINI and CKI in the treatment of PLC published in the databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, China Science and Technology Journal Database, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were retrieved from January 2020 to October 2022. The data of benefit and risk indicators were combined to obtain the effect value. The multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) model was applied to build the decision tree. The benefit value, risk value and benefit risk value of the 3 injections in PLC treatment were calculated. Monte Carlo simulation was carried out to calculate the 95% confidence interval and probability of differences among the 3 injections, so as to optimize the evaluation *** total of 71 RCTs were included. The benefit values of ADI, CINI and CKI combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) were 42, 38 and 36, respectively. The risk values were 42, 25 and 37, respectively. The benefit risk values were 42, 31 and 37, respectively. The benefit risk differences of ADI vs. CINI, ADI vs. CKI, and CKI vs. CINI were 11 (−0.86, 17.75), 5 (−5.01, 11.09), and 6 (−1.87, 12.63), respectively. The probability that ADI superior to CINI, ADI superior to CKI, and CKI superior to CINI was 96.26%, 77.27%, and 92.62%, *** on the results of MCDA model, CINI combined with TACE has the greatest risk in the treatment of the PLC. Considering the efficacy and safety, the possible priority of the 3 Chinese medicine injections combined with TACE in the treatment of PLC is ADI, CKI and CINI.

Association between red blood cell distribution width and the occurrence of cervical carcinoma

Objective:To explore correlation between red blood cell distribution width(RDW)and cervical ***:50 cervical carcinoma patients and 75 healthy controls from the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from June 2020 to December 2020 were involved as the patients group and the control group *** data were collected from routine blood tests and biochemistry examination,the correlation of RDW with hemoglobin(Hb)and c-reactive protein(CRP)was evaluated by Spearman rank correlation,and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn to analyze the diagnostic value of RDW for cervical ***:The levels of RDW,squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCCA)and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)in patients with cervical carcinoma were higher than those in the *** levels of high-density lipoprotein(HDL),Albumin,Prealbumin,Hb,RBC and neuron-specific enolase(NSE)in patients were lower than those in the controls(all P0.05).The AUC of RDW in the diagnosis of cervical carcinoma was *** on Spearman's rank correlation coefficient analysis,RDW was positively correlated with Hb(r=0.434,P<0.05)and CRP(r=0.366,P<0.05)RDW,and was negatively correlated with hematocrit(r=-0.363,P<0.05),in cervical carcinoma group,cervical carcinoma subgroupⅠ-ⅡandⅢ-Ⅳwere higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:Elevated RDW is associated with the occurrence of cervical carcinoma,and it may have clinical value in the diagnosis of cervical carcinoma and the course of reaction.

Evolution of High-energy Electron Distribution in Pulsar Wind Nebulae

In this paper,we analyze the spectral energy distributions of 17 powerful(with a spin-down luminosity greater than10~(35)erg s~(-1))young(with an age less than 15,000 yr)pulsar wind nebulae(PWNe)using a simple timein-dependent one-zone emission *** aim is to investigate correlations between model parameters and the ages of the corresponding PWNe,thereby revealing the evolution of high-energy electron distributions within *** findings are as follows:(1)The electron distributions in PWNe can be characterized by a double power-law with a super-exponential cutoff.(2)As PWNe evolve,the high-energy end of the electron distribution spectrum becomes harder with the index decreasing from approximately 3.5 to 2.5,while the low-energy end spectrum index remains constant near 1.5.(3)There is no apparent correlation between the break energy or cutoff energy and the age of PWNe.(4)The average magnetic field within PWNe decreases with age,leading to a positive correlation between the energy loss timescale of electrons at the break energy or the high-energy cutoff and the age of the PWN.(5)The total electron energy within PWNe remains constant near 2×10~(48)erg,while the total magnetic energy decreases with age.

The alloy-type material Sb is widely used in the anode materials of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)due to its high theoretical specific ***,its serious volume expansion problem during alloying/dealloying of Li~+limits its practical *** this work,C-Sb composite was constructed as anode material of LIBs by electrospinning route for the first time,Sb was introduced into the polyacrylonitrile-based hard carbon and coal tar pitch-based soft carbon composite amorphous carbon fiber with a diameter of 300-600 nm,which realized high cycling *** C-Sb-2(the mass ratio of polyacrylonitrile to Sb source is 1:2)electrode displayed charge capacities of 1098.5,930.3,841.7,753.5,643.9 and 545.8 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.5,1 and 2 A·g^(-1),*** when the current density returned to 0.1 A·g^(-1),the charge capacity was 939.3 mAh·g^(-1),revealing good stability and *** introduction of Sb into the amorphous carbon improved its conductivity and addressed the volume expansion issue of high specific capacity Sb during charge/***-situ XRD analysis confirmed the high reversibility of the C-Sb-2 during charging and *** functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed the gradual enhancement of the interface interaction between Sb_(x)Li_(y) and amorphous carbon(AMC)with increasing lithium content,contributing to the anchoring of alloy nanoparticles on the AMC surface and buffering the volume change of the ***,the gradual lithiation of Sb facilitated the electron transfer from Sb_(x)Li_(y) to *** findings hold promise for designing lithium storage materials with exceptional performance,highlighting the potential of C-Sb composites as anode materials for efficient next-generation lithium storage.

Interplay between Microscopic Structures and Macroscopic Viscoelastic Properties of Polyampholyte Gels

Polyampholyte gels,which have hierarchical structures,exhibit excellent self-healing properties and have great promise for biomaterials and *** investigated the relationship between microscopic structures and macroscopic viscoelastic properties of polyampholyte gels and found three factors influencing their viscoelastic properties,including the chemical crosslinking bonds,topological entanglements controlled by monomer concentration,and the ionic *** strength plays a major role on the strength of ionic bonds.A crossover point of elastic modulus and loss modulus was observed in the dynamic frequency sweeps at low monomer concentration or low chemical crosslinking density for gels with intermediate strength of ionic *** solid-liquid transition signaled by the crossover point is a typical feature of dynamic associated gels,representing the dynamical association-dissociation of the ionic bonds and full relaxation of the topological entanglements in the gel *** the crossover point disappears when the ionic bonds are too weak or too strong to form“permanent”***,in the non-linear yielding measurement,gels with intermediate strength of the ionic bonds are ductile and yield at very large shear strain due to the self-healing properties and the dynamic association-dissociation of the ionic *** the self-healing properties disappear when the ionic bond strength is too weak or too *** work reveals the mechanism of how the dynamic association-dissociation of ionic bonds influences both the linear and non-linear viscoelastic properties of the polyampholyte gels.
