Convergence analysis of an incremental approach to online inverse reinforcement learning

Interest in inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) has recently increased,that is,interest in the problem of recovering the reward function underlying a Markov decision process (MDP) given the dynamics of the system and the behavior of an *** paper deals with an incremental approach to online ***,the convergence property of the incremental method for the IRL problem was investigated,and the bounds of both the mistake number during the learning process and regret were provided by using a detailed *** an online algorithm based on incremental error correcting was derived to deal with the IRL *** key idea is to add an increment to the current reward estimate each time an action mismatch *** leads to an estimate that approaches a target optimal *** proposed method was tested in a driving simulation experiment and found to be able to efficiently recover an adequate reward function.

The effective proliferation and differentiation of trophoblast stem cells(TSCs)is indispensable for the development of the placenta,which is the key to maintaining normal fetal growth during ***-like factor 5(Klf5)is implicated in the activation of pluripotency gene expression in embryonic stem cells(ESCs),yet its function in TSCs is poorly ***,we showed that Klf5 knockdown resulted in the downregulation of core TSC-specific genes,consequently causing rapid differentiation of ***,Klf5-depleted embryos lost the ability to establish TSCs in *** the molecular level,Klf5 preferentially occupied the proximal promoter regions and maintained an open chromatin architecture of key TSC-specific *** of Klf5 impaired the enrichment of p300,a major histone acetyl transferase of H3 lysine 27 acetylation(H3K27ac),and further reduced the occupancy of H3K27ac at promoter regions,leading to decreased transcriptional activity of TSC pluripotency ***,our findings highlight a novel mechanism of Klf5 in regulating the self-renewal and differentiation of TSCs and provide a reference for understanding placental development and improving pregnancy rates.

Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Microchannel Heat Sink with Highly-Dense Micro-Jet Arrays

This paper proposed a new structure of highly-dense micro-jet arrays for hybrid jet-impingement/microchannel heat sinks(~120 jet per cm^(2) with jet width of 0.35 mm).Parametric study is performed to investigate the influence of structure and flow parameters on the convective heat transfer of water jet cooling in confined *** simulation results show that the optimal jet width,jet spacing and impingement distance are around 0.2 mm,0.2 mm and 0.3 mm,respectively,which can achieve a low thermal resistance as well as a relatively low pressure *** analysis of the heat transfer pathways shows that the micro-fin jet structures can extend the impinging heat transfer area and conduct a considerable proportion of heat,which can reach up to 38.9%with the Reynolds number ranging from 797.1 to *** heat transfer characteristics in the heat sink will shift from impingement dominated heat transfer to the channel-convection dominated heat transfer as the jet impingement distance increases.A correlation is proposed to predict the average Nusselt number on the stagnation area for the heat sink with different structure parameters,and the deviations of predictions from the numerical results are less than 10%.

P-type Mg_(3)Sb_(2)-based Zintls have attracted considerable interest in the thermoelectric(TE)field due to their environmental friendliness and low ***,compared to their n-type counterparts,they show relatively low TE performance,limiting their application in TE *** this work,we simultaneously introduce Bi alloying at Sb sites and Ag doping at Mg sites into the Mg_(3)Sb_(2)to coopera-tively optimize the electrical and thermal properties for the first time,acquiring the highest ZT value of∼0.85 at 723 K and a high average ZT of 0.39 in the temperature range of 323-723 K in sample Mg_(2.94)Ag_(0.06)Sb_(1.9)Bi_(0.1).The first-principle calculations show that the codoping of Ag and Bi can shift the Fermi level into the valence band and narrow the band gap,resulting in the increased carrier concentration from 3.50×10^(17)cm^(-3)in the reference Mg 3 Sb 0.9 Bi 0.1 to∼7.88×10^(19)cm^(-3)in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi *** a result,a remarkable power factor of∼778.9μW m^(-1)K^(-2)at 723 K is achieved in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi ***,a low lattice thermal conductivity of∼0.48 W m^(-1)K^(-1)at 723 K is also obtained with the help of phonon scattering at the distorted lattice,point defects,and nano-precipitates in sample Mg 2.94 Ag 0.06 Sb 0.9 Bi *** synergistic effect of using the multi-element co-doping/-alloying to optimize electrical properties in Mg_(3)Sb_(2)holds promise for further improving the TE performance of Zintl phase materials or even others.

Imbalanced rock burst assessment using variational autoencoder-enhanced gradient boosting algorithms and explainability

We conducted a study to evaluate the potential and robustness of gradient boosting algorithms in rock burst assessment,established a variational autoencoder(VAE)to address the imbalance rock burst dataset,and proposed a multilevel explainable artificial intelligence(XAI)tailored for tree-based ensemble *** collected 537 data from real-world rock burst records and selected four critical features contributing to rock burst ***,we employed data visualization to gain insight into the data’s structure and performed correlation analysis to explore the data distribution and feature ***,we set up a VAE model to generate samples for the minority class due to the imbalanced class *** conjunction with the VAE,we compared and evaluated six state-of-theart ensemble models,including gradient boosting algorithms and the classical logistic regression model,for rock burst *** results indicated that gradient boosting algorithms outperformed the classical single models,and the VAE-classifier outperformed the original classifier,with the VAE-NGBoost model yielding the most favorable *** to other resampling methods combined with NGBoost for imbalanced datasets,such as synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE),SMOTE-edited nearest neighbours(SMOTE-ENN),and SMOTE-tomek links(SMOTE-Tomek),the VAE-NGBoost model yielded the best ***,we developed a multilevel XAI model using feature sensitivity analysis,Tree Shapley Additive exPlanations(Tree SHAP),and Anchor to provide an in-depth exploration of the decision-making mechanics of VAE-NGBoost,further enhancing the accountability of treebased ensemble models in predicting rock burst occurrences.

Pluripotent stem cells(PSCs) are characterized by their capacity for high self-renewal and multiple differentiation potential and include embryonic stem cells, embryonic germ cells and induced PSCs. PSCs provide a very suitable model for the studies of human diseases, drugs screening, regenerative medicine and developmental biology research. Pigs are considered as an ideal model for preclinical development of human xenotransplantation, therapeutic approaches and regenerative medicine because of their size and physiological similarity to humans. However, lack of knowledge about the derivation, characterization and pluripotency mechanisms of porcine PSCs hinders progress in these biotechnologies. In this review, we discuss the latest progress on porcine PSCs generation, evaluation criteria for pluripotency, the scienti?c and technical questions arising from these studies. We also introduce our perspectives on porcine PSC research, in the hope of providing new ideas for generating naive porcine PSCs and animal breeding.

Mechanical Performance of Bio-inspired Bidirectional Corrugated Sandwich Pressure Shell Under External Hydrostatic Pressure

This paper aims to enhance the compression capacity of underwater cylindrical shells by adopting the corrugated sandwich structure of *** cuttlebone suffers uniaxial external compression,while underwater cylindrical shells are in a biaxial compressive stress *** suit the biaxial compressive stress state,a novel bidirectional corrugated sandwich structure is proposed to improve the bearing capacity of cylindrical *** static and buckling analysis for the sandwich shell and the unstiffened cylindrical shell with the same volume-weight ratio are studied by numerical *** is indicated that the proposed sandwich shell can effectively reduce the ratio between circumferential and axial stress from 2 to 1.25 and improve the critical buckling load by about 1.63 *** simulation shows that optimizing and adjusting the structural parameters could significantly improve the advantage of the sandwich ***,the hydrostatic pressure tests for shell models fabricated by 3D printing are carried *** to the experimental results,the overall failure position of the sandwich shell is at the center part of the sandwich *** has been found the average critical load of the proposed sandwich shell models exceeds two times that of the unstiffened shell ***,the proposed bio-inspired bidirectional corrugated sandwich structure can significantly enhance the pressure resistance capability of cylindrical shells.
