The discrete ordinates(S N)method requires numerous angular unknowns to achieve the desired accu-racy for shielding calculations involving strong *** objective is to develop an angular adaptive algorithm in the S N method to automatically optimize the angular distribution and minimize angular discretization errors with lower *** proposed method enables linear dis-continuous finite element quadrature sets over an icosahe-dron to vary their quadrature orders in a one-twentieth sphere so that fine resolutions can be applied to the angular domains that are *** error estimation that operates in conjunction with the spherical harmonics method is developed to determine the locations where more refinement is *** adaptive quadrature sets are applied to three duct problems,including the Kobayashi benchmarks and the IRI-TUB research reactor,which emphasize the ability of this method to resolve neutron streaming through ducts with *** results indicate that the performance of the adaptive method is more effi-cient than that of uniform quadrature sets for duct transport *** adaptive method offers an appropriate placement of angular unknowns to accurately integrate angular fluxes while reducing the computational costs in terms of unknowns and run times.

AIM： To study the histopathological changes in the retina and flash electroretinogram （F-ERG） features of ozone-treated streptozotocin （STZ）-induced diabetic rats. METHODS： Seventy male Sprague Dawley rats were grouped as follows： blank group （GB, n=10）, model control group （GM, n=18）, ozone group （GOs, n=19）, and oxygen group （GO2, n=18）. The model was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of STZ. Ozone or oxygen enteroclysm was given twice per week for 4wk. F-ERG and histopathological examinations were performed one month after treatment. RESULTS： Under dark adaption, as compared to GB, the other groups each had differential decreases in the a-wave amplitudes （P〈0.05）; the latencies were delayed in GM, GO2, and GO3 rats （P〈0.05）. Similar results were observed under light adaption, with the exception that the a-wave of the amplitudes （F=0.28, P〉0.05）. There were significant differences in the apoptosis index among the groups （P〈0.05）. Under ozone treatment, apoptosis was decreased in GO3 as compared to GM and GO2 . CONCLUSION： Ozone administration alleviates nerve damage and reduces pathology and apoptosis in the retinas of diabetic rats.

Nuclear data are the cornerstones of reactor physics and shielding ***,China released CENDL-3.2 in 2020,and the US released ENDF/B-VIII.0 in ***,it is necessary to comprehensively evaluate the criticality computing performance of these newly released evaluated nuclear *** this study,we used the NJOY2016 code to generate ACE format libraries based on the latest neutron data libraries(including CENDL-3.2,JEFF3.3,ENDF/B-VIII.0,and JENDL4.0).The MCNP code was used to conduct a detailed analysis of fission nuclides,including^(235)U,^(233)U,and^(239)Pu,in different evaluated nuclear data libraries based on 100 *** criticality calculation performance of each library was evaluated using three statistical parameters:δk/σ,χ^(2),and.Analysis of theδk/σparameter showed that CENDL-3.1 and JENDL-4.0 both had>10 benchmarks that exceeded 3r,whereas CENDL3.2,ENDFB-VIII.0,and JEFF-3.3 had,7,5,and 4 benchmarks,respectively,exceeding *** ENDF/B-VII.1 library performed best,with only two benchmarks exceeding *** to CENDL-3.1,CENDL-3.2 offers an improvement in criticality *** to the JEFF-3.3 and ENDF/B-VIII.0 libraries,CENDL3.2 performs better in the calculation of the^(233)U assemblies,but it performs poorly in the pusl11 series case calculation of the^(239)Pu assemblies,and thus further improvement is needed.

AIM: To study the characteristics, relative distribution and to compare causes of red eye in ophthalmic clinics in Urumchi and Shanghai, ***: Data on continuous cases of red-eye patients admitted to the Ophthalmology Center of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were collected between November 2018 and September 2019. Demographic data, the incidence of red eye and related disease distribution of all cases were obtained. The independent t-test method was used for age comparison, while the Chi-square test was used to compare classified data ***: The information on 335 and 415 patients with red eyes in Shanghai and Urumchi were collected, respectively. The main causes of red eye were conjunctival disease and dry eye. The age of female patients with red eyes was significantly higher than that of males, and the proportion of female patients with dry eyes was also ***-eye-related diseases occurred more frequently in patients over 46 years old than in those under 18, and dry eye was more common with increasing age. The incidence of infectious conjunctivitis in Urumchi was significantly higher than that in Shanghai, and allergic conjunctivitis occurred more frequently in spring, summer, or autumn than in winter(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Significant differences exist in the distribution of red-eye-related diseases in Urumchi and Shanghai regions of China, and distribution varies with age and season, the latter being an important feature of allergic conjunctivitis.

In neutron and photon transport problems,anisotropic scattering is of great importance for the particle flux,especially when the angular flux has a strong forward peak in shielding *** conventional Legendre expansion is widely used in discrete ordinates transport codes because of algebraic simplifications with spherical harmonics for the scattering ***,negative cross sections caused by the finitely truncated expansion may give rise to a negative source and flux.A simple method is adopted,based on integrating functions of scattering moments,to evaluate anisotropy and convergence of expanded functions.A series of problems were designed with angular fluxes of different anisotropy,and numerical simulations were performed using the ARES transport code to study different treatments and algorithms for *** show that the diagonal transport approximation is more stable and obtains a similar accuracy with the extended approximation.A conservative fixup for the negative source could ensure particle balance and improve computational accuracy significantly for photon *** effect of anisotropic scattering is problem-dependent,and no distinct differences among various methods are observed for volume source problems with a continuous energy *** beam source problems,flux results are sensitive to negative scattering functions,and strictly nonnegative cross sections need to be implemented.
