Self-adaptive gas flow and phase change behaviors during hydrate exploitation by alternate injection of N_(2) and CO_(2)

Since hydrate resources play a part of the stratigraphic framework structure in sediments,establishing a safe and economic method for hydrates exploitation remains the primary challenge to this *** the proposed methods,the spontaneous displacement of CH_(4) from hydrate cages by CO_(2) seems to be a perfect mechanism to address gas production and CO_(2) storage,especially in today's strong demand for carbon reduction and replacing clean *** extensive lab researches,in the past decade,injecting a mixture of CO_(2) and small molecule gas has become a key means to enhance displacement efficiency and has great potential for ***,there is a lack of in-depth research on gas flow in the reservoir,while the injected gas always passes through low-saturated hydrate areas with high permeability and then occurs gas channel in a short term,finally resulting in the decreases in gas production efficiency and produced gas ***,we explored a new injection-production mode of alternate injection of N2 and CO_(2) in order to fully coordinate the advantages of N_(2) in enhanced hydrate decomposition and CO_(2) in solid storage and heat *** alternate"taking"and"storing"processes perfectly repair the problem of the gas channel,achieving self-regulation effect of CH_(4) recovery and CO_(2) *** 3-D experimental results show that compared to the mixed gas injection,CH_(4) recovery is increased by>50%and CO_(2) storage is increased by>70%.Additionally,this alternate injection mode presented a better performance in CH_(4) concentration of produced gas and showed outstanding N_(2) utilization ***,we analyzed its self-adaptive gas flow mechanism and proposed an application model of"one injection and multiple production".We look forward to this study accelerating the application of CO_(2)-CH_(4) replacement technology.

Fractal model of spontaneous imbibition in low-permeability reservoirs coupled with heterogeneity of pore seepage channels and threshold pressure

A novel dandelion-based bionic proppant and its transportation mechanism in different types of fractures

Low-permeability reservoirs are generally characterized by low porosity and low permeability. Obtaining high production using the traditional method is technologically challenging because it yields a low reservoir recovery factor. In recent years, hydraulic fracturing technology is widely applied for efficiently exploiting and developing low-permeability reservoirs using a low-viscosity fluid as a fracturing ***, the transportation of the proppant is inefficient in the low-viscosity fluid, and the proppant has a low piling-up height in fracture channels. These key challenges restrict the fluid(natural gas or oil) flow in fracture channels and their functional flow areas, reducing the profits of hydrocarbon *** study aimed to explore and develop a novel dandelion-bionic proppant by modifying the surface of the proppant and the fiber. Its structure was similar to that of dandelion seeds, and it had high transport and stacking efficiency in low-viscosity liquids compared with the traditional ***, the transportation efficiency of this newly developed proppant was investigated experimentally using six different types of fracture models(tortuous fracture model, rough fracture model,narrow fracture model, complex fracture model, large-scale single fracture model, and small-scale single fracture model). Experimental results indicated that, compared with the traditional proppant, the transportation efficiency and the packing area of the dandelion-based bionic proppant significantly improved in tap water or low-viscosity fluid. Compared with the traditional proppant, the dandelionbased bionic proppant had 0.1-4 times longer transportation length, 0.3-5 times higher piling-up height, and 2-10 times larger placement area. Wave Attenuation and Turbulence Driven by Submerged Vegetation Under Current-Wave Flow

A set of laboratory experiments are carried out to investigate the effect of following/opposing currents on wave *** vegetation canopies with aligned and staggered configurations were tested under the condition of various regular wave heights and current velocities,with the constant water depth being 0.60 m to create the desired submerged *** show that the vegetation-induced wave dissipation is enhanced with the increasing incident wave height.A larger velocity magnititude leads to a greater wave height attenuation for both following and opposing current ***,there is a strong positive linear correlation between the damping coefficientβand the relative wave height H_(0)/h,especially for pure wave *** the velocity profile,the distributions of U_(min)and U_(max)show different patterns under combined wave and *** time-averaged turbulent kinetic energy(TKE)vary little under pure wave and U_(c)=±0.05 m/s *** the increase of flow velocity amplitude,the time-averaged TKE shows a particularly pronounced increase trend at the top of the *** vegetation drag coefficients are obtained by a calibration *** empirical relations of drag coefficient with Reynolds and Keulegane-Carpenter numbers are proposed to further understand the wave-current-vegetation interaction mechanism.
