Tailoring nanostructures is a general approach used to obtain enhanced thermoelectric properties for halfHeusler compounds because the wide areas of grain and phase boundaries could be scattering centers that lower lattice thermal ***,a common fabrication method based on the sintering of crystalline precursors crushed from as-cast alloy ingots has limitations in obtaining a homogeneous microstructure without microsized impurity phases,owing to residual elemental segregation from *** this study,we used amorphous NbCoSn alloys as a precursor for the sintered specimen to obtain a homogeneous NbCoSn bulk specimen without microsized impurity phases and segregation,which led to the enhanced Seebeck coefficient due to the high purity of the half-Heusler phase after ***,superplasticity originating from amorphous features enabled the powders to be largely deformed during the sintering process,even at a low sintering temperature(953 K).This resulted in less oxidation at both,the grain boundary and the interior,as the O diffusion pathway was blocked during the sintering *** a result,the NbCoSn0.95Sb0.05 specimen using an amorphous precursor exhibited an enhanced zT of 0.7,due to the increase in the power factor and a decrease in lattice thermal conductivity compared to the specimen using a crystalline precursor.

AIM To examine the effect of combined exercise on colonic transit time(CTT) in admitted psychiatric patients. METHODS Over a 6-mo period, consecutive in patients with mental illness were recruited from the Somang Hospital Psychiatry Unit. A combined exercise program that included 60 min per day of exercise 3 d per week for 12 wk was performed. Physical fitness and CTT of the patients were measured twice before and twice after the exercise program. CTT was measured using a multiple marker technique with a radio-opaque marker. Changes in the exercising patients' CTT and weight-,cardiovascular-and fitness-related parameters were statistically *** After the 12-wk combined exercise intervention, decreased intestinal transit time was observed in all CTTs of the exercise group, including the right CTT(exercise: 15.6 ± 15.2 vs 9.2 ± 11.9, control: 13.1 ± 10.4 vs 10.9 ± 18.7), left CTT(exercise: 19.7 ± 23.5 vs 10.4 ± 13.2, control: 19.2 ± 19.0 vs 16.9 ± 19.8), recto-sigmoid CTT(exercise: 14.3 ± 16.7 vs 6.7 ± 7.9, control: 15.0 ± 14.4 vs 19.3 ± 30.3), and total colonic transit time(TCTT)(exercise: 50.2 ± 38.1 vs 27.1 ± 28.0, control: 47.4 ± 34.6 vs 47.3 ± 47.3). After the 12-wk combined exercise period, TCTT was significantly shortened in the exercise group compared with that in the control group. In addition to eating habits, water intake, and fiber intake, the increased physical activity level as a result of the 12-wk combined exercise program reduced the CTT.

The commercialization of Zn batteries is confronted with urgent challenges in the metal anode,such as dendrite formation,capacity loss,and cracking or ***,surface interfacial engineering of the Zn anode is introduced for achieving safety and dendritic-free cycling for high-performance aqueous Zn batteries through a simple but highly effective chemical etching-substitution *** chemical modification induces a rough peak-valley surface with a thin fluorine-rich interfacial layer on the Zn anode surface,which regulates the growth orientation via guiding uniform Zn plating/stripping,significantly enhances accessibility to aqueous electrolytes and improves wettability by reducing surface *** a result,such a synergetic surface effect enables uniform Zn plating/stripping with low polarization of 29 m V at a current density of 0.5 m A cm^(-2) with stable cyclic performance up to 1000 ***,a full cell composed of a fluorine-substituted Zn anode coupled with aβ-MnO_(2)or Ba-V_(6)O_(13)cathode demonstrates improved capacity retention to 1000 cycles compared to the pristine-Zn *** proposed valley deposition model provides the practical direction of surface-modified interfacial chemistries for improving the electrochemical properties of multivalent metal anodes via surface tuning.

Acuta Kudo(PF) to increase endometrial ***: Herbal medicines were extracted with boiling water and polysaccharides were *** examined the effect of PL, RG, and PF(PRP), a most effective herbal formula deduced from constitutive ingredient herbs of Antai Yin which is composed of PRP, on the leukemia inhibitory factor(LIF) expression and endometrial ***: The combination of the extracts from PRP induced the LIF expression in Ishikawa cells and increased the adhesion between Ishikawa and JAr cells. In addition, PRP-induced attachment of JAr cells onto Ishikawa cells and expression of adhesion molecules, ITGAV, ITGB5, CD44 s, and Lselectin, are significantly reduced by knock-down of LIF ***: Induced by the combination of the PRP extracts, the adhesion between trophoblast and endometrial cells are mediated by expression of LIF and adhesion molecules. Thus, we suggest the combination of the PRP extracts may be a novel therapy for enhancing embryo implantation rate.

The paper presents an experimental study on the behavior of square concrete-filled high strength steel tube columns until *** specimens were tested to investigate the effect of high strength steel and plain strength concrete on the load carrying capacity of the square concrete-filled steel tube *** effect of the concrete which filled in the steel tube was also ***,the effect of high strength steel and the presence of concrete were also *** main parameters in the tests were:(1) the ultimate strength of steel (800 Mpa),(2) the presence of concrete in steel tube (hollow steel tube and concrete-filled steel tube),and (3) slender *** main objectives of these tests were three-step:(1) to describe a series of tests on composite columns,(2) to analyze the influence of several parameters,and (3) to compare the accuracy of the predictions by using the specifications in the code (AISC-LRFD,EC4 and AIJ etc.) for the design of high-strength composite *** results indicate that the ultimate strength of steel and presence of concrete had significant influence on both the axial compressive load capacity and the ductile of the square steel tube.

The factors that affect CO2 reduction allotment and the impacts on future energy demand and supply were discussed, in order to help energy policy makers both in developed countries and in developing countries for understanding the fundamental constraint on energy sector resulted from global warming related CO2 reduction, and hopefully in finding a common objective starting point to deal with global warming negotiation in energy sector, and to investigate the optimum stabilization goal and process acceptable to all sovereign countries that based on equity and applicability.

Indoor air quality(IAQ) directly affects the health of occupants. Household manufacturing equipment(HME) used for hobbies or educational purposes is a new and unexplored source of air pollution. In this study, we evaluated the characteristics of particulate and gaseous pollutants produced by a household laser processing equipment(HLPE). Various target materials were tested using a commercial HLPE under various operating conditions of laser power and sheath air flow rate. The mode diameters of the emitted particles gradually decreased as laser power increased, while the particle number concentration(PNC) and particle emission rate(PER) increased. In addition, as the sheath air flow rate quadrupled from 10 to 40 L/min, the mode diameter of the emitted particles decreased by nearly 25%, but the effect on the PNC was insignificant. When the laser induced the target materials at 53 m W, the mode diameters of particles were 2.0 × 10^(4) particles/cm^(3). Particularly, analyses of sampled aerosols indicated that harmful substances such as sulfur and barium were present in particles emitted from leather. The carcinogenic gaseous pollutants such as acrylonitrile, acetaldehyde, 1,3-butadiene, benzene, and C 8 aromatics(ethylbenzene) were emitted from all target materials. In an actual indoor environment, the PNC of inhalable ultrafine particles(UFPs) was > 5 × 10^(4) particles/cm^(3) during 30 min of HLPE operation. Our results suggest that more meticulous control methods are needed, including the use of less harmful target materials along with filters or adsorbents that prevent emission of pollutants.

BACKGROUND Liver stiffness measurement(LSM)tends to overestimate fibrosis stage in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Controlled attenuation parameter(CAP),provided by LSM device,has been introduced for noninvasive quantification of hepatic *** To determine the role of CAP values in predicting liver fibrosis stage by LSM in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).METHODS One hundred eighty-four patients with biopsy proven NASH had LSM and CAP evaluated at *** them,130 patients had 1-year follow up LSM and analyzed for the changes of LSM after pioglitazone or ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA)*** In Kleiner fibrosis stage F0-1,LSM values increased at higher CAP tertile(P=0.001),and in F2,at middle and higher tertiles(P=0.027).No difference across CAP tertiles was noticed in F3-4(P=0.752).Receiver operating characteristic curve for LSM cutoff in diagnosis of F≥2 identified 8.05 kPa for lower CAP tertile,9.35 kPa for middle,and 10.55 kPa for high *** changes in proportion of significant fibrosis(F≥2)were assessed among pioglitazone and UDCA treated patients considering CAP values,pioglitazone treated patients demonstrated decrease in proportion of high *** In patient with NAFLD,interpretation of LSM in association with CAP scores may provide helpful information sparing unnecessary liver biopsy.
