A blue phosphor Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+(CAP:Eu2+) was synthesized by solid state *** Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+ exhibited high quantum efficiency and excellent thermal *** luminescent intensity of Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+ was found to be 128% under excitation at 380 nm,149% under 400 nm,and 247% under 420 nm as high as that of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+.The optimal doping concentration was observed to 11 mol.% of CAP:Eu2+.The energy transfer between Eu2+ ions in CAP were occurred via electric multipolar interaction,and the critical transfer distance was estimated to be 1.26 nm.A mixture of blue-emitting Ca2PO4Cl:Eu2+,green-emitting(Ba,Sr)2SiO4:Eu2+ and red-emitting CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ phosphors were selected in conjunction with 400 nm chip to fabricate white LED *** average color-rendering index Ra and correlated color temperature(Tc) of the white LEDs were found to be 93.4 and 4590 K,*** results indicated that it was a promising candidate as a blue-emitting phosphor for the near-UV white light-emitting diodes.

Gold nanoparticles decorating the surface of multiwalled carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） are prepared by photochemical reduction. The gold clusters form different interesting geometrical faceted shapes in accordance to time duration of synchrotron X-ray irradiation. The shape of nanogold could be spherical, rod-like, or triangular. Carbon nanotubes serve as optimal templates for the heterogeneous nucleation of gold nanocrystals. These nanocrystal structures are characterized by transmission electron microscope （TEM） and element analysis by energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）. 2007 Chinese Society of Particuology and Institute of Process Engineering,Chinese Academy of Sciences. We described two members in a family with gastrointestinal stromal tumors （GISTs） without cutaneous hyperpigmentation. The patients were father and son who did not have cutaneous hyperpigmentation. Histological examination showed that these tumors were GISTs expressing CD34 and CD117. Tumor DNA extracted from paraffin-embedded specimens revealed somatic mutation with a deletion mutation at different codons in exon 11 of c-kit gene after direct sequencing analysis. No germline mutation was detected in DNA extracted from peripheral leukocytes obtained from the father and son. We propose that GISTs could be caused by sporadic somatic mutation in a family without germline mutation and hyperpigmentation.

BACKGROUND Chondrosarcoma,a cartilage matrix producing tumor,is the second most commonly observed primary bone tumor after osteosarcoma,accounting for 15%of all chest wall *** herein report the case of a patient with chondrosarcoma of the sternum and our management of the chest wall defects that presented following radical tumor *** SUMMARY A 31-year-old patient presented to our hospital with dull pain and a protruding mass overlying the chest for 3 *** presence of nocturnal pain and mass size progression was reported,as were overhead arm elevation-related *** tomography showed a focal osteoblastic mass in the sternum with bony exostosis and adjacent soft tissue *** emission tomography-computed tomography revealed hypermetabolic activity with a mass located over the upper *** resonance imaging showed a focal illdefined bony mass of the sternum with cortical destruction and periosteal *** biopsy showed a consistent result with chondrosarcoma with immunohistochemical positivity for S100 and focal positivity for *** grade II chondrosarcoma diagnosis was confirmed by postoperative *** patient underwent radical tumor resection and chest wall reconstruction with a locking plate and cement *** patient was discharged 1 wk after surgery without any *** the 1-year follow-up,there was no local recurrence on *** functional scores,including Constant Score,Nottingham Clavicle Score,and Oxford Shoulder Score,showed the absence of pain in the performance of daily activities or substantial functional *** The diagnosis of chondrosarcoma must be considered when chest wall tumors are *** surgical reconstructive materials,with a locking plate and cement spacer,used in our study are cost-effective and readily-available for the sternum defect.

AIM: To identify the predictors of rebleeding after initial hemostasis with epinephrine injection (EI) in patients with high-risk ulcers. METHODS: Recent studies have revealed that endoscopic thermocoagulation, or clips alone or combined with EI are superior to EI alone to arrest ulcer bleeding. However, the reality is that EI monotherapy is still common in clinical practice. From October 2006 to April 2008, high-risk ulcer patients in whom hemorrhage was stopped after EI monotherapy were studied using clinical, laboratory and endoscopic variables. The patients were divided into 2 groups: sustained hemostasis and rebleeding. RESULTS: A total of 175 patients (144, sustainedhemostasis; 31, rebleeding) were enrolled. Univariate analysis revealed that older age (≥ 60 years), advanced American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) status (category Ⅲ , Ⅳ and Ⅴ ), shock, severe anemia (hemoglobin herapy in patients with high-risk ulcers should be avoided. Initial hemostasis with thermocoagulation, clips or additional hemostasis after EI is mandatory for such patients to ensure better hemostatic status and to prevent subsequent rebleeding, surgery, morbidity and mortality.

A depth-integrated model has been developed to simulate the alluvial process of channel bed under overloading and under-loading sediment discharge conditions. The hydrodynamic sub-model based on the explicit-finite-analytic method is used to obtain the flow field. Then the sediment transport modes, including the bed-load and suspended load, are modeled with the aid of the empirically auxiliary relations. In the depth-integrated model, the sediment exchange rate is treated as a source term specified at the reference level, rather than a boundary condition as usually adopted in vertical 2-D or 3-D models. The deposition or erosion rate of the bed is then determined by comparing the flow-laden suspended-sediment concentration profile against the equilibrium concentration profile, and their difference is used to compute the sediment exchange rate for a given time interval. Assessment of the good accuracy of the proposed model is demonstrated by using van Rijn’s (1981) experiment for the case of clear water passing a movable bed. In the companion paper, the verification and the field application of the proposed model are presented.

Advanced gastrointestinal stromal tumor patients with complete response after treatment with imatinib mesylate

＜正＞Arc Spray Nanoparticle Synthesis System （ASNSS） has been used to prepare the silver nanofluids in this study. The metal electrodes under the electrical discharge will melt and evaporate rapidly and condense to form the nanoparticles in the dielectric fluid at lower temperature and produce the suspended nanoparticle fluid. Thus, the mechanism of the ASNSS process is superheating the electrodes by plasma to form metallic nuclei and supercooling these nuclei by dielectric liquid to produce nanofluid. This study considers the different controlling parameters such as discharge current, discharge voltage, pulse-duration time, electrode diameter, and the temperature of dielectric liquid. The optimally operated parameters can be obtained to produce the finer particle size in nanofluid. The results indicate the silver electrodes in alcohol fluid will produce the spherical nanosilver particles. The mean particle size of silver in different dielectric liquid temperatures of-40, -20, 0, and 10℃is about 13.4, 15.8, 17.5, and 21.6 nm, respectively. This indicates that the well suspended fluid can be obtained by controlling the lower dielectric fluid temperature.

AIM： Most gastrointestinal stromal tumors （GISTs） express constitutively activated mutant isoforms of kit kinase or platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha （PDGFRA）, which are potential therapeutic targets for imatinib mesylate （Glivec）. Partial response occurred in almost two thirds of GIST patients treated with Glivec. However, complete response （CR） after Glivec therapy was sporadically reported. here we illustrated advanced GIST patients with CR after Glivec treatment. METHODS： Between January 2001 and June 2005, 42 advanced GIST patients were treated with Glivec. Patients were administered 400 mg of Glivec in 100-mg capsules, taken orally daily with food. The response of the tumor to Glivec was evaluated after one month, three months, and every three months thereafter or whenever medical need was indicated. Each tumor of patients was investigated for mutations of kit or PDGFRA. RESULTS： The median follow-up time of the 42 ad-vanced GIST patients treated with Glivec was 16.9 months （range, 1.0- 47.0 months）. Overall, 3 patients had complete response CR （7.1%）, 26 partial response （67.8%）, 5 stationary disease （11.9%）, and 3 progressive disease （11.9%）. The median duration of Glivec administration for the three patients was 36 months （range, 23-36 months）. The median time to CR after Glivec treatment was 20 months （range, 9-26 months）. Deletion and insertion mutations of c-kit exon 11 and insertion mutation of c-kit exon 9 were found in two cases and one case, respectively. CONCLUSION： Complete response （CR） can be achieved in selected advanced GIST patients treated with Glivec. The median time to CR after Glivec treatment was 20 months. Deletion and insertion mutations of kit exon 11 and insertion mutation of kit exon 9 contribute to the genetic features in these selected cases.
