Scattering of Water Waves by Dual Symmetric Inclined Floating Porous Barriers Using the DBEM

The scattering of normally incident water waves by two surface-piercing inclined perforated barriers in water with a uniform finite depth is investigated within the framework of linear water wave *** that thin barriers are zero-thickness,a novel numerical method involving the the coupling of the dual boundary element method(DBEM)with damping layers is *** order to effectively damp out the reflected waves,two damping layers,instead of pseudoboundaries are implemented near the two side boundaries of the computational ***,the modified linearized free surface boundary conditions are formulated and used for solving both the ordinary boundary integral equation as well as the hypersingular boundary integral equation for degenerate *** newly developed numerical method is validated against analytical methods using the matched eigenfunction expansion method for the special case of two vertical barriers or the inclined angle to the vertical being *** influence of the length of the two damping layers has been ***,these findings are also validated against previous results for several *** validation,the numerical results for the reflection coefficient,transmission coefficient and dissipation coefficient are obtained by varying the inclination angle and porosity-effect *** effects of both the inclination angle and the porosity on the amplitudes of wave forces acting on both the front and rear barriers are also *** is found that the effect of the inclination angle mainly shifts the location of the extremal values of the reflection and the transmission ***,a moderate value of the porosity-parameter is quite effective at dissipating wave energy and mitigating the wave loads on dual barriers.

Platycodon grandiflorus polysaccharide(PGP)is one of the main components of ***,but the mechanism of its anti-inflammatory effect has not been fully *** aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effect of PGP on mice with dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis(UC)and explore the underlying *** results showed that PGP treatment inhibited the weight loss of DSS-induced UC mice,increased colon length,and reduced DAI,spleen index,and pathological damage within the *** also reduced the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and inhibited the enhancement of oxidative stress and MPO ***,PGP restored the levels of Th1,Th2,Th17,and Treg cell-related cytokines and transcription factors in the colon to regulate colonic *** studies revealed that PGP regulated the balance of colonic immune cells through mesenteric lymphatic *** together,PGP exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effect and regulates colonic immunity to attenuate DSS-induced UC through mesenteric lymphatic circulation.

Progressive iterative channel estimation in fast time-varying OFDM systems

Considering the joint channel estimation and data detection in time-varying orthogonal frequency division multiplexing （OFDM） and addressing transmission performance degradation induced by the severe inter-carrier interference （ICI） at very high speed, a new progressive iterative channel estimation scheme is proposed. To alleviate the error propagation of the inaccurate data due to ICI, the measurement subcarriers in the Kalman filter is designed to be extended from pilots subcarriers to all the subcarriers progressively through the iterations. Furthermore, in iteration process, the interference of the non-pilot data to the measurement subcarriers is considered to be part of noise in the modified Kalman filter, which improves the estimation accuracy. Simulation indicates that the proposed scheme improves the performance in fast time-varying situation.

Rapid Recognition of Isomers of Monochlorobiphenyls at Trace Levels by Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Using Ag Nanorods as a Substrate

Isomers and homologues of organic pollutants are hard to distinguish-especially in trace amounts-due to the similarities in their physical and chemical properties. We report here that by identifying the Raman characteristics of isomers of monochlorobiphenyls, these compounds can be recognized, even at trace levels, by using the surface-enhance Raman scattering method with silver nanorods as a substrate. When dissolved in acetone, 2-, 3-, and 4-chlorobiphenyls were detected at a concentration of 10^(-8) mol/L, at which their characteristic Raman peaks were visible. This study may provide a fast, simple, and sensitive method for the detection and recognition of organic pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyls.

Sulfur Isotopes of Framboidal Pyrite in the Permian-Triassic Boundary Clay at Meishan Section

Pyrite framboids were found in the Permian-Triassic boundary at Meishan Section,while their sulfur isotopes were *** majority of framboids is less than 5μm in diameter,with some large-sized ***,euhedral gypsums were observed in the boundary *** authors suppose that most of the pyrite framboids formed just below the redox boundary and stopped growing after entering the lower water *** result indicates that it was probably lower dysoxia condition in the temporal ***,the authors also presume that some pyrite was oxidated to sulfates accompanying the fluctuation of redox condition,which would probably be the origin of the negative sulfur isotopes of gypsum and CAS reported *** addition,sulfur isotope of framboidal pyrite suggests that sulfur is originated from bacterial sulfate reduction in anoxic ***, this study confirms that the ocean was widely anoxic during the Permian-Triassic transitional period. However,the redox condition in temporal ocean was probably not stable,with short-term fluctuations.

Clarification of the dispersion mechanism of cathode slurry of lithium-ion battery under effects of both poly vinylidene fluoride/carbon black ratio and mixing time

This paper presents the effects of both poly vinylidene fluoride(PVDF)/carbon black(CB)ratio(m PVDF:m CB)and mixing time t on the dispersion mechanism of the cathode slurry of lithium-ion battery(LIB).The dispersion mechanism is deduced from the electrochemical,morphological and rheological properties of the cathode slurry by using electrical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),scanning electron microscopy and rheology methods,*** the perspective of EIS method,static simulation models are established in the COMSOL Multiphysics software;meanwhile,the simulated results are used to verify the correctness of the electrochemical properties of the cathode *** a result,the following conclusions are able to be ***,in the case of the mass ratio m_(PVDF):m_(CB)=5:10,LiCoO_(2) particles are completely coated by the mixture of CB and PVDF to form a stable polymer gel *** or lower m_(PVDF):m_(CB) leads to the larger impedance and worse dispersion status for the cathode ***,when t=6 min,a good gel-like conductive network structure is formed by coating the thinner evenly dispersed CB–PVDF double layer around LiCoO_(2) ***,a strategy regarding to both m_(PVDF):m_(CB) and t in experimental scale is proposed,which has the capability of improving the performance of LIB.

Rice productivity and profitability with slow-release urea containing organic-inorganic matrix materials

Applying slow-release fertilizers is possible means for reducing nitrogen(N) loss in rice production. Matrix-based fertilizers represent novel slow-release fertilizers. To date, there is little consensus about the effect of combined addition of organic and inorganic matrix materials on rice production. We developed a slow-release urea fertilizer with selected organic and inorganic matrix materials. The study aimed to: i) determine the effect of the slow-release urea on rice yield, profit, and agronomic efficiency and ii) elucidate its possible mechanisms. A two-year field experiment was conducted during 2015–2016. Besides,laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the potential N loss risk. Three treatments were set up: control without N application(CK), regular urea treatment(RU, 150 kg N ha^(-1)), and slow-release urea treatment(SU, 150 kg N ha^(-1)). The results showed that rice biomass and grain yield were significantly higher in SU than in RU(P < 0.05). The higher panicle density in SU was largely responsible for the greater grain yield. Net profit in SU was US$450 ha^(-1), higher than in RU. Agronomic efficiency was significantly greater in SU than in RU(P < 0.05). Rice height, root area, leaf chlorophyll, leaf nitrate reductase activity, and leaf glutamine synthetase activity were larger in SU than in RU. Less N loss and greater soil N availability were partly responsible for the improvements in rice growth traits and physiological parameters in SU. Overall, the slow-release urea is a promising fertilizer for rice production.

The hot compressive deformation behavior of hot isostatically pressed Ti-47.5Al-2Cr-2Nb-0.2W-0.2B alloy using gas atomization powders was systematically investigated and the processing map was obtained in the temperature range of 1323-1473 Kand strain rate range of 0.001-0.5s^（-1）.The calculated activation energy in the above variational ranges of temperature and strain rate possesses a low activation energy value of approximately 365.6kJ/mol based on the constitutive relationship models developed with the Arrhenius-type constitutive model respectively considering the strain rate and deformation *** hot working flow behavior during the deformation process was analyzed combined with the microstructural ***,the processing maps during the deformation process were established based on the dynamic material model and Prasad instability criterion under different deformation ***,the optimal hot processing window of this alloy corresponding to the wide temperature range of 1353-1453 Kand the low strain rate of 0.001-0.1s^（-1） was obtained.

Latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI)has become a major source of active tuberculosis(ATB).Although the tuberculin skin test and interferon-gamma release assay can be used to diagnose LTBI,these methods can only differentiate infected individuals from healthy ones but cannot discriminate between LTBI and ***,the diagnosis of LTBI faces many challenges,such as the lack of effective biomarkers from Mycobacterium tuberculosis(MTB)for distinguishing LTBI,the low diagnostic efficacy of biomarkers derived from the human host,and the absence of a gold standard to differentiate between LTBI and *** culture,as the gold standard for diagnosing tuberculosis,is time-consuming and cannot distinguish between ATB and *** this article,we review the pathogenesis of MTB and the immune mechanisms of the host in LTBI,including the innate and adaptive immune responses,multiple immune evasion mechanisms of MTB,and epigenetic *** on this knowledge,we summarize the current status and challenges in diagnosing LTBI and present the application of machine learning(ML)in LTBI diagnosis,as well as the advantages and limitations of ML in this ***,we discuss the future development directions of ML applied to LTBI diagnosis.
