The dot products mu(g)beta(CT) of first hyperpolarizability and ground state dipole moment of two merocarbocyanines were measured experimentally with solvatochromism and compared to the values obtained by AM1/FF calculation. The comparable result was also obtained by the measurement of second harmonic generation (SHG) for LB film of dye II. The mu(g)beta(CT) of dye II is larger than that of the well known NLO chromophore 4-N, N-dimethylamino-4'-nitrostilbene (DANS).

AIM： To explore the expression of SIOOB in corneal epithelial cells under ,Aspergillus stimulation both in vivo and in vitro. METHODS： Immortalized human corneal epithelial cells （HCECs） were exposed to inactive #lsperg///us fumigatus （A. fumigatus） conidia at 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 24h respectively. The corneas of Wistar rats were exposed to active A. fumigatus at 0, 12, 24, 48h and the normal rat corneas were used for normal control. The mRNA level of S100B was evaluated by real time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction （qRT-PCR）. Sl00B protein expression in cornea epithelium was detected by immunohistochemical/immunocytochemical staining （IHC/ICC）. RESULTS： Histopathology revealed a significant inflammatory cell infiltration in fungal keratitis human and rat cornea. Corneal epithelial cells didn＇t express or rarely express S100B at baseline. A. fumigatus significantly induced S100B mRNA expression in cultured corneal epithelial cells in a time depended manner in vitro the mRNA began to rise significantly at 8h in vitro （P〈0.05） and continue to rise as time prolonged （P〈0.01）. in vivo S100B mRNA level was low in the normal corneas. However, it was increased in keratitis corneas from 12h after infection （P〈0.05） and reached to a peak at 24h （P〈0.001）. Immunochemistry revealed an obvious staining in fungal keratitis corneas as well as immortalized HCECs compared to the normal ones respectively, indicating an increased expression of SlOOB protein. CONCLUSION： S100B exists in corneal epithelial cells and is over-expressed under A. fumigatus stimulation. Sl00B may play an important role in the innate immune response of the corneal epithelium during A. fumigatus infection.

AIM： To investigate the regulation of lipoxygenase （LOX）-1 and Dectin-1 on interleukin-10 （IL-10） production in mice with Aspergillus fumigatus （A. fumigatus） keratitis. METHODS： The corneas of C57BL/6 mice were pretreated with LOX-1 inhibitor Poly（I） or Dectin-1 siRNA separately before the infection of A. fumigatus. Polymerase chain reaction （PCR） and Western blot were used to detect the expression of IL-10. RESULTS： The mRNA and protein expressions of IL-10 were significantly increased in mice with A. fumigatus keratitis. Compared with the group pretreated with sterile water before infection, Poly（I） pretreatment suppressed IL-10 expression significantly. Compared with the group pretreated with scrambled siRNA before infection, Dectin-1 siRNA pretreatment significantly reduced IL-10 expression in response to A. fumigatus infection. CONCLUSION： LOX-1 and Dectin-1 regulate IL-10 production in mouse A. fumigatus keratitis.

Relationship between Migration and HIV Risky Behavior: a Comparative Study of Returning Migrants and Non Migrants Based on Rural Out-of-school Youth in Jilin, China

Objective To estimate the relationship between migration and HIV risky behavior when controlling for gender, age, and educational levels and to evaluate the gender differences in migration, HIV knowledge, and HIV risky behaviors among rural youth in China. Methods A cross-sectional, anonymous, investigative questionnaire for 1710 unmarried, out-of-school rural youth, aged between 15 and 24 years, was handed out in Gongzhuling county of Jilin province, China. Results 58.5% of participants had a history of migration, irrespective of gender. There were gender differences observed in other factors such as drug abuse（4.3% for males and 5.5% for females, P〈0.01）, multiple sexual partners（24.1% for males and 44.1% for females, P〈0.01）, and HIV knowledge rate（35.2% for males and 25.5% for females, P〈0.001）. While controlling for gender, age, and educational levels, the relationships between migration and drug abuse, selling sex, and non usage of condoms during last instance of sexual activity were found to be significant. The cases of premarital sex and multiple sexual partners were both not found to be related to migration. Conclusion Among rural youth, the HIV risky behavior such as drug abuse, selling sex, and lack of condom use, is significantly related to migration, while premarital sex and multiple sexual partners seem unrelated to migration.

AIM:To explore a reasonable method of digestive tract reconstruction,namely,antrum-preserving double-tract reconstruction(ADTR),for patients with adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction(AEG) and to assess its efficacy and safety in terms of longterm survival,complications,morbidity and ***:A total of 55 cases were retrospectively collected,including 18 cases undergoing ADTR and 37 cases of Roux-en-Y reconstruction(RY) for AEG(Siewert types Ⅱ and Ⅲ) at North Sichuan Medical College. The cases were divided into two groups. The clinicopathological characteristics,perioperative outcomes,postoperative complications,morbidity and overall survival(OS) were compared for the two different reconstruction ***:Basic characteristics including sex,age,body mass index(BMI),Siewert type,p T status,p N stage,and lymph node metastasis were similar in the two groups. No significant differences were found between the two groups in terms of perioperative outcomes(including the length of postoperative hospital stay,operating time,and intraoperative blood loss) and postoperative complications(consisting of anastomosis-related complications,wound infection,respiratory infection,pleural effusion,lymphorrhagia,and cholelithiasis). For the ADTR group,perioperativerecovery indexes such as time to first flatus(P = 0.002) and time to resuming a liquid diet(P = 0.001) were faster than those for the RY group. Moreover,the incidence of reflux esophagitis was significantly decreased compared with the RY group(P = 0.048). The postoperative morbidity and mortality rates for overall postoperative complications and the rates of tumor recurrence and metastasis were not significantly different between the two groups. Survival curves plotted using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by log-rank test demonstrated similar outcomes for the ADTR and RY groups. Dectin-1 expression at early period of Aspergillus fumigatus infection in rat's corneal epithelium

AIM:To investigate the expression of dendritic cell-associated C-type lectin-1 (dectin-1) at the early period of Aspergillus fumigatus infection in rat’s corneal epithelium. ·METHODS:A total of 72 Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups:A, B and C. The right eyes were chosen as experimental eyes. Group A was control group. Rats in group B were not inoculated with Aspergillus fumigatus. Group C was taken as Aspergillus fumigatus keratitis model. Rats in group B and C (six from each group) were executed randomly at 4, 8, 16 and 24 hours after experimental model being established to assess the expression of dectin-1 mRNA through real-time PCR. Another six rats in group B and C were executed randomly at 24 hours to assess the expression of dectin-1 protein through immunohistochemistry. ·RESULTS:The results of real-time PCR indicated that dectin-1 mRNA expression was low in corneal epithelium of normal rats’. There was no significantly difference of dectin-1 mRNA expression in group A and B (P >0.05). The expression of Aspergillus fumigatus infected corneal epithelium increased gradually after 8 hours in group C. The synchronous expression of group A and C had significant difference (P <0.01). Immunohistochemisty discovered that dectin-1 receptor existed in normal rat’s corneal epithelium . Dectin-1 protein increased after 24 hours in group C. There was a significant difference of synchronous expression in group B and C(P<0.01). · CONCLUSION:Dectin-1 exists in rat’s cornealepithelium and its expression significantly increases at the early period of Aspergillus fumigatus infection. Dectin-1 is a pattern recognition receptor that expresses in corneal epithelium and involves in immune response to Aspergillus fungal keratitis.
