Objective To study the nutrition habits among Chinese-Korean children and adolescents in Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin, China. Methods Data were obtained from the Chinese National Survey on Students’ Constitution and Health in 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010 for Chinese-Korean children and adolescents aged 7-18 years. The number of the subjects included was 4789, 4704, 5875, and 5315, respectively. Results The rate of the occurrence of stunting showed a declining trend from 1995 to 2010(for boys: urban, 6.3%; rural, 12.7% in 1995 and 3.5% for both in 2010. For girls: urban, 7.8%; rural, 13.4% in 1995 and 4.2% and 5.5%, respectively, in 2010). Although the ratio of wasting did not show significant differences between the urban and rural children and adolescents in 1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010 respectively, the ratio of occurrence of overweight or obesity increased(for boys: urban, 7.3% and 1.3% in 1995, 17.6% and 12.9% in 2010; rural, 7.0% and 1.3% in 1995, 14.6% and 12.8% in 2010, respectively. For girls: urban, 8.1% and 1.0% in 1995, 17.3% and 8.6% in 2010; rural 5.7% and 0.7% in 1995, 16.4% and 7.4% in 2010, respectively). Conclusion The ratio of malnutrition in children and adolescents in Chinese-Korean areas declined from 1995 to 2010, and the distinction in malnutrition between the urban and rural areas was negligible in 2010. Further, the ratio of overweight and obesity increased over this period.

Using Lyapunov function to design optimal controller for AQM routers

It was shown that active queue management schemes implemented in the routers of communication networks sup-porting transmission control protocol (TCP) flows can be modelled as a feedback control system. In this paper based on Lyapunov function we developed an optimal controller to improve active queue management (AQM) router’s stability and response time, which are often in conflict with each other in system performance. Ns-2 simulations showed that optimal controller outperforms PI controller significantly.

The Upper Miocene Xiaohe Formation of the Yuanmou Basin in Yunnan Pro- vince, southwestern China, is famous for its hominoid fauna and is important for studying the Late Cenozoic human and mammal evolution. Abundant fossil wood was found associated with this fauna, which provided important evidence for palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of the basin. Among the fossil wood, two different taxa have been identified namely, Quercoxylon sp. （Fagaceae） and Pterocarya sp. （Juglandaceae）. Based on the habitats of their Nearest Living Relatives （NRLs）, it is suggested that upland subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest dominated by QuercuslLithocarpus was common around the basin, while a lowland deciduous broad-leaved forest dominated by Pterocarya was present on the river bank of the basin during the Late Miocene.

Efficacy of early lifestyle intervention on metabolic syndrome

Objective Intensive lifestyle intervention significantly reduces the progression to diabetes in high-risk individuals. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of early lifestyle intervention on high-risk groups of metabolic syndrome. Methods In a two-arm randomized controlled 1-year trial, we compared the effectiveness of a general recommendation-based program of lifestyle intervention carded out by wained professionals versus standard unstructured information given by physicians at reducing the prevalence of multiple metabolic and inflammatory abnormalities in 306 adults aged 45-64 years in Xiaogan city, China. Results At baseline, clinical/ anthropometric/laboratory and lifestyle characteristics of the intervention （n= 153 ） and control （n= 153） groups were not significantly different. The former significantly reduced total/saturated fat intake and increased polyunsaturated fat/fiber intake and exercise level compared to the controls. Weight, waist circumference, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, and most of the metabolic syndrome components decreased in the intervention group and increased in the controls after 12 months. Lifestyle intervention significantly reduced metabolic syndrome （OR=0.28; 95% CI 0.18-0.44）, with a 31% （95% C121-41） absolute risk reduction, corresponding to 3.2 （95% CI, 2-5） patients needing to be treated to prevent 1 case after 12 months. The intervention significantly reduced the prevalence of central obesity （OR=0.33; 95% CI, 0.20-0.56）, and hypertriglyceridemia （OR=0.48; 95% CI, 0.31-0.75） and the incidence of diabetes （OR=0.23; 95% CI, 0.06-0.85）. Conclusions A lifestyle intervention based on general recommendations was effective in reducing multiple metabolic/inflammatory abnormalities. The usual care by clinical physicians was ineffective at modifying progressive metabolic deterioration in high-risk individuals （J Geriatr Cardio12010; 7：10-16）.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of 12-N-p-chlorobenzyl sophoridinol derivatives as a novel family of anticancer agents

Taking 12-N-p-chlorobenzyl sophoridinol 2 as a lead, a series of novel sophoridinic derivatives with various 30-substituents at the 11–side chain were synthesized and evaluated for their anticancer activity from sophoridine(1), a natural antitumor medicine. Among them, the sophoridinic ketones 5a–b, alkenes 7a–b and sophoridinic amines 14a–b displayed reasonable antiproliferative activity with IC50 values ranging from 3.8 to 5.4 μmol/L. Especially, compounds 5a and 7b exhibited an equipotency in both adriamycin(AMD)-susceptible and resistant MCF-7 breast carcinoma cells,indicating a different mechanism from AMD. The primary mechanism of action of 5a was to arrest the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase, consistent with that of parent compound 1. Thus, we consider 12-chlorobenzyl sophoridinic derivatives with a tricyclic scaffold to be a new class of promising antitumor agents with an advantage of inhibiting drug-resistant cancer cells.

Study on Preparation and Properties of Polyether Polytriazole Elastomers

To explore the application of click chemistry in the field of elastomer materials, propargyl-terminated ethylene oxide-tetrahydrofuran copolymer （PTP（E-co-T）） was prepared from hydroxyl-terminated ethylene oxide-tetrahydrofuran copolymer （P（E-co-T）） by end-etherisation modification. FTIR and ^13C-NMR results indicate that P（E-co-T）-terminated hydroxyl was etherified thoroughly, yielding the target product PTP（E-co-T）, and the content of terminated alkynyl of PTP（E-co-T） was evaluated to be 0.428 mmol.g^-l. Using a polyazide compound as a cross-linker, polytriazole elastomers with various functional molar ratio （R） values were prepared from PTP（E-co-T） by virtue of the CuAAC reaction. Mechanical property tests indicate that with the increase in R, the modulus E and stress Orb of the polytriazole elastomers first increase and subsequently decrease, whereas the strain first decreases and later increases. The mechanical properties of the polytriazole elastomers show a parabolic dependence on the R value. Near the stoichiometric ratio, E and Orb show maxima and the strain εb shows a minimum. Swelling tests demonstrate that the apparent molecular weight of polytriazole elastomer strands also first decreases and subsequently increases. At the stoichiometric ratio, the network structure possesses strands with a minimum apparent molecular weight and a maximum apparent density. Dynamic mechanical analysis reveals that the polytriazole elastomers presented damping peaks at approximately -64℃, corresponding to the glass transition of copolyether strands, and the elastomer exhibited the lowest dissipation factor tanδ at the stoichiometric ratio. Thermal analysis suggests that the weight-loss process of the polytriazole elastomer is characteristic of one-step decomposition, and the elastomer begins to decompose from polyether strands, not triazole groups.

BACKGROUND:Many controversies still exist regarding ventilator parameters during cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR).This study aimed to investigate the CPR ventilation strategies currently being used among physicians in Chinese tertiary ***:A survey was conducted among the cardiac arrest team physicians of 500 tertiary hospitals in China in August,*** data included physician and hospital information,and preferred ventilation strategy during ***:A total of 438(88%)hospitals completed the survey,including hospitals from all 31 Chinese mainland *** 41.1%of respondents chose delayed or no ventilation during CPR,with delayed ventilations all starting within 12 *** all the respondents who provided ventilation,83.0%chose to strictly follow the 30:2 strategy,while 17.0%chose ventilations concurrently with uninterrupted *** 38.3%respondents chose to intubate after initiating CPR,while 61.7%chose to intubate immediately when resuscitation *** bagvalve-mask ventilation,only 51.4%of respondents delivered a frequency of 10 breaths per *** terms of ventilator settings,the majority of respondents chose volume control(VC)mode(75.2%),tidal volume of 6–7 mL/kg(72.1%),PEEP of 0–5 cmH2O(69.9%),and an FiO2 of 100%(66.9%).However,62.0%of respondents had mistriggers after setting the ventilator,and 51.8%had high pressure ***:There is a great amount of variability in CPR ventilation strategies among cardiac arrest team physicians in Chinese tertiary *** are needed with specific recommendations on ventilation during CPR.

Fracture is the primary failure type for the UO_(2)ceramic pellets,which are operated under irradiation and thermal processes,and physically confined by the *** this work,by combining closely coupled physical processes of heat conduction,heat transfer,and mechanical deformation with the cohesive phase field framework,we proposed a high-precision modeling of quasistatic cracking of three-dimensional(3D)UO_(2)ceramic fuel pellets under high temperature and *** simulation results agree well with the experimental results,indicating that the proposed method has the potential to capture 3D crack modes in the interested time ***,we studied the relation of the 3D fracture patterns of fuel pellets with the peak power *** was found that the power level plays a critical role in determining the competition between radial and circumferential cracks,as well as transverse penetrating cracks.
