Teak (Tectona grandis L.) plantation management is said to be profitable, but small-scale farmers with teak plantations need to find appropriate and effective choices for plantation management because of their small plots. There have been few studies on how combinations of site quality, rotation and plant spacing affect financial evaluations of teak plantation management quantitatively. In this study, we introduced the yield table for teak plantations in Northeast Thailand, and investigated the effects of site quality with rotation (15-year and 20-year) and spacing (2 m × 4 m and 4 m × 4 m) on the financial evaluation of teak plantation management using discounted cash flow analysis. The equivalent annual incomes (EAI) and benefit/cost ratios (BCR) were negative and <1, respectively, at site indexes (SI) of 14 and 18, but increased ~2 - 3 times as SI rose from 22 (site of medium quality) to 26 and 26 to 30. The 20-year rotation was generally preferable to the 15-year one, especially at SI 22. At SI 30, 2 m × 4 m was more profitable than 4 m × 4 m for both rotations, but at SI 22, 20-year rotation with 4 m × 4 m was the most profitable, followed by 20-year with 2 m × 4 m.

The present paper is an attempt to bridge the gulf between economics and econophysics. That is, constructing a chaos-based theoretical model, we show the behavior of the goal-driven agents exhibits the behavior of the purpose-free agents. Main conclusion is: economy becomes chaos if 1) capital gain of the middle class people is large enough for them to consume eight times as much as their income gain and 2) market for the middle class people is large enough and number of the middle class people is 16 times as large as the amount of products made by one producer.

This paper presents a coordination strategy of Load Frequency Control(LFC)and digital frequency protection for an islanded microgrid(MG)considering high penetration of Renewable Energy Sources(RESs).In such MGs,the reduction in system inertia due to integration of large amount of RESs causes undesirable influence on MG frequency stability,leading to weakening of the ***,sudden load events,and short circuits caused large frequency fluctuations,which threaten the system security and could lead to complete blackouts as well as damages to the system ***,maintaining the dynamic security in MGs is one of the important challenges,which considered in this paper using a specific design and various data conversion stages of a digital over/under frequency relay(OUFR).The proposed relay will cover both under and over frequency conditions in coordination with LFC operation to protect the MG against high frequency *** prove the response of the proposed coordination strategy,a small MG was investigated for the *** proposed coordination method has been tested considering load change,high integration of ***,the sensitivity analysis of the presented technique was examined by varying the penetration level of RESs and reducing the system *** results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed coordination to maintain the power system frequency stability and *** addition,the superiority of the OUFR has been approved in terms of accuracy and speed response during high disturbances.

Web-Based Sea Level Change Simulation System Using PNG Elevation Tiles and Smart Tile Architecture

We have developed a web-based processing system that can simulate positive and negative sea level changes globally by selecting the best Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for a target region from multiple DEMs. A PNG elevation tile format is used as the DEM format, which reduces the DEM data size. The PNG tile format implements client-based processing, and the DEM data are provided from different websites. In addition, the smart tile architecture is adopted, which enables on-demand simulation by adding a tile conversion process (i.e., a DEM selection process) during image drawing by using JavaScript. To demonstrate the system, we have employed three DEMs, i.e., the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) map (~10-m resolution), the ASTER Global Digital Elevation Models (ASTER GDEM version 3) as global land area (~30-m resolution), and the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans as bathymetric data (~1000-m resolution). The ASTER Global Water Bodies Database is also used in the data selection process. The GSI provides their DEM in a PNG elevation tile format, and the other data are provided by the Geological Survey of Japan in PNG elevation tile format. We assume the current DEM sea level as 0 m, and the sea level can be changed to an arbitrary integer value (−10,000 to 10,000 m). Combining ASTER GDEM for land and GEBCO for sea makes it possible to target DEM of the whole earth. Moreover, it was shown that if a higher resolution DEM is available, it is possible to combine the higher resolution DEM in that area. The combining the PNG elevation tile format with the smart tile architecture demonstrates the possibilities of a client-based web processing service like that of the server-based OGC Web Processing Service.

In this paper, we propose the receiver structure for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Interleaved Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) where the Frequency Domain Equalization (FDE) is firstly done for obtaining the tentative decision results and secondly using them the Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) is cancelled by ISI canceller and then the Maximum Likelihood Detection (MLD) is used for separating the spatially multiplexed signals. Furthermore the output from MLD is fed back to ISI canceller repeatedly. In order to reduce the complexity, we replace the MLD by QR Decomposition with M-Algorithm (QRD-M) or Sphere Decoding (SD). Moreover, we add the soft output function to SD using Repeated Tree Search (RTS) algorithm to generate soft replica for ISI cancellation. We also refer to the Single Tree Search (STS) algorithm to further reduce the complexity of RTS. By examining the BER characteristics and the complexity reduction through computer simulations, we have verified the effectiveness of proposed receiver structure.

Single-Carrier (SC) transmission with the same bandwidth as Multi-Carrier (MC) transmission (such as OFDM) may have far shorter symbol duration and is considered to be more robust against time selective fading. In this paper, we proposed the novel equalization and signal separation schemes in time domain for short block length transmission, i.e., Block Linear Equalization (BLE) and Block Nonlinear Equalization (BNLE) on MIMO frequency selective fading channels. The proposed BLE uses the MMSE based inverse matrix in time domain and the BNLE utilizes the QRD-M (QR Decomposition with M algorithm) with appropriate receiver complexity. We compared the computational complexity among the conventional SC-FDE (Frequency Domain Equalization) scheme and the proposed equalizers. We also used the Low-Density Parity Check (LDPC) decoder concatenated to the proposed BLE and BNLE.
