AIM:To share the results of a national screening program for amblyopia in school children in the north of ***:This is a prospective national screening study for *** program rolls first and second-grade children(6 to 7 years old) in the north of *** eye examination included:best-corrected visual acuity,cover-uncover test,and cycloplegic *** visual acuity was tested using an ETDRS visual acuity chart without ***,children were tested with full cycloplegic refraction when the test criteria were *** amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity difference of 2 or more *** comparison,bilateral amblyopia was defined as a best-corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or worse in the best ***:The prevalence of amblyopia for the total sample tested(n=17 203) was 2.78%(n=479).The most common cause of amblyopia was hypermetropia(64.45%),followed by previous ocular surgeries(15.1%),myopia(10.43%),strabismus(9.39%),and congenital cataract(0.63%).CONCLUSION:This is the first and only study,identifing modifiable risk factors in Jordanian children with *** their first couple of years of elementary education,many Jordanian children are affected by amblyopia and pass unnoticed.A more governmental effort is needed into screening programs to improve vision in the Jordanian population.

Several types of solid acid catalysts were prepared based on oxides like (ZrO2, TiO2, HfO2, MCM-41 and SBA-15). Each catalyst was subjected separately to two types of impregnations: sulfate ions and niobium. The catalytic activity of these solids was tested in the oxidation reaction of 1-octanol. These catalysts showed acidic and redox characters. MCM-41 and SBA-15 materials showed higher redox catalytic activities through the formation of (octyl octanoate, peroxyacetal and octanal). Our interest was focused on obtaining the ester (octyl octanoate) with high yields.

Dose-dependent relationship between serum metformin levels and glycemic control, insulin resistance and leptin levels in females newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Despite the extensive clinical experience with the use of metformin worldwide, no formal dose-ranging study has been conducted because the current dosing strategy of metformin was determined empirically, rather than by an understanding of its dose-response relationship in patients with type 2 diabetes. The present study was designed to evaluate the correlation between serum metformin levels and glycemic control, insulin resistance and leptin levels in females newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Sixty type 2 diabetic females were recruited for the study and were allocated into 3 groups;each receiving metformin 1000, 1500 and 2000 mg/day respectively for 3 months. Blood samples withdrawn from each patient at zero time and after 3 months is used to evaluate serum levels of HbA1c, glucose, leptin and insulin, in addition, the measurement of serum level of metformin in blood after 3 months by HPLC. The results demonstrated that all the treated groups with different doses of metformin showed significant improve in all parameters;the use of increased metformin doses was only correlated with plasma leptin levels in the highest dose. In conclusion, serum metformin levels are not good predictors for correlating improvement in clinical and biochemical parameters with increasing the dose in newly diagnosed non-insulin resistant females with type 2 diabetes.

Soy-corn-yoghurt is a fermented product that obtained from inoculation of yoghurt starter to soy corn milk. The present study was conducted to study the use of different ratios of soy corn milk and corn milk only with buffalo milk in the manufacture of yoghurt. Two experiments were carried out , the first experiment was 100 ml buffalo milk :soy corn milk ratios 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50 (w/w), the second was buffalo milk with Corn milk 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50 and 40:60 respectively and 100% buffalo milk as control. Treatments were coded B1, C1, D1, E1 and F1 in the first experiment, while B2, C2, D2, E2, F2 and G2 for the second respectively. all treatments subjected to chemical and organoleptic assessment. It was found those pH, total protein, fat content were decreased with increasing the ratio of soy corn milk in the product. also, increasing the ratio of corn milk led to decrease all the previously mentioned characteristics. Curd firmness values for yoghurt made from (70:30) coded D2 and (60:40) coded E1 were higher than that of other treatments. Results indicated that mixes of (50:50) coded F1, (60:40) coded E1 and mixes (90:10) coded B2, (80:20) coded C2 and (70:30) coded D2 had the highest sensory scores and chemical quality.

白沙瓦平原碱性火成岩省位于巴基斯坦西北部KPK省,以广泛出露的碱性花岗岩、正长岩、霞石正长岩和碳酸岩为特征,其北侧以主地幔逆冲断裂（MMT）为界,南侧则由主边界逆冲断裂（MBT）所分隔,构成约300 km宽的喜马拉雅逆冲褶皱带。通过对Koga和Dunkeldik碳酸岩开展锆石U-Pb年代学研究,并结合前人已经发表的年代学数据,将巴基斯坦北部的碳酸岩-碱性岩浆活动划分为早二叠世、渐新世-中新世。早期Koga碳酸岩的Sr-Nd-Pd同位素特征显示其有较低的Sr初始比值((Sr/Sr)i=0.70233～0.70382)和正的εNd（t）值（+3.10～+3.47）,表明其源区具有HIMU和EMI两种地幔端元混合的特征（图1）,与早二叠世冈瓦纳大陆北缘的裂解事件有关,其源区特征和岩石成因与东非裂谷碳酸岩相似,碳酸岩中稀土总量较低,属于无矿碳酸岩。晚期的Sillai Patti碳酸岩以富含磷灰石（高达15%）为特征,具有高Sr低Nd的同位素比值,和负的εNd（t）值（-2.2～-1.7）,起源于印度次大陆岩石圈地幔部分熔融,并受到地壳物质的混染,深部动力学机制可能是后碰撞构造体制下局部岩石圈的拆沉作用[2]。该岩体起源于受俯冲沉积物流体交代的岩石圈地幔部分熔融,源区有一定程度的REE预富集,但尚未形成工业规模的REE矿床,因为不发育伟晶岩阶段及后期热液阶段,缺乏大规模热液作用的进一步富集。

Petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical investigations were carried out on representative?samples from the Mudawwara-Quwayra Dike (MQD) in southernJordan. The MQD intruded Paleozoic and Cretaceous rocks as sub-vertical basaltic plugs, striking NW-SE along a fault zone and extending for more than 100 km. The MQD forms irregularly positive features, and is represented by symmetrical, elliptical, elongated or circular hills. It comprises thin basaltic layers intercalated?with pyroclastics and inclusions of different size and lithology, including limestone, sandstone, phosphate, quartzite, and marble. Petrographically, the rock exhibits phyric, porphyritic, vitrophyric and locally glomerophyritic textures manifested by plagioclase, clinopyroxene and rare?olivine and set in a matrix of plagioclase, pyroxene, brown glass and opaque phases. Clinopyroxene?and olivine phenocyrsts show disequilibrium textures such as reaction/resorbed rims in the?forms of corroded ends. The paragenetic sequence shows that olivine is the first phase to be crystallized and coexisting with pyroxene at sometime, while pyroxene continues crystallization. Plagioclase might have crystallized in contemporaneous later than the pyroxene. The MQD rocks are classified?as basalt and exhibit a narrow range of silica with a unique subalkaline affinity. This is most?probably attributed to assimilation of the abundant siliciclastic inclusions by the ascending magma. Emplacement of the MQD is attributed to regional phase of magmatism in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, which is probably the peripheral extension of a large magmatic event widely exposed in the Red Sea realm.

Background: Complications linked to postpartum & pregnancy are one of the major causes of female death. In order to understand the causes of complications and encourage women to take sufficient action in order to receive emergency treatment, a critical step should therefore be taken to minimize complications related to pregnancy, in order to ensure the safety of both women and newborns. Aim of the work: Evaluate the effectiveness of the education programs for pregnant women on obstetric danger signs in rural areas and help minimize the incidence of pregnancy loss and comorbidities. Methods: A quasi-experimental design on 70 women from a population of through 372 women in six-month in antenatal clinics recruited from the previously mentioned settings with pre- and post-test was conducted at antenatal clinics (M.C.H centers) affiliated to the available geographical health zones in EL-fayoum rural area including: al-sheikh hassan at sanorse.
