Large Eddy Simulation of Vertical Structure and Size Density of Deep Layer Clouds

In a convective scheme featuring a discretized cloud size density, the assumed lateral mixing rate is inversely proportional to the exponential coefficient of plume size. This follows a typical assumption of-1, but it has unveiled inherent uncertainties, especially for deep layer clouds. Addressing this knowledge gap, we conducted comprehensive large eddy simulations and comparative analyses focused on terrestrial regions. Our investigation revealed that cloud formation adheres to the tenets of Bernoulli trials, illustrating power-law scaling that remains consistent regardless of the inherent deep layer cloud attributes existing between cloud size and the number of clouds. This scaling paradigm encompasses liquid, ice, and mixed phases in deep layer clouds. The exponent characterizing the interplay between cloud scale and number in the deep layer cloud, specifically for liquid, ice, or mixed-phase clouds, resembles that of shallow convection,but converges closely to zero. This convergence signifies a propensity for diminished cloud numbers and sizes within deep layer clouds. Notably, the infusion of abundant moisture and the release of latent heat by condensation within the lower atmospheric strata make substantial contributions. However, this role in ice phase formation is limited. The emergence of liquid and ice phases in deep layer clouds is facilitated by the latent heat and influenced by the wind shear inherent in the middle levels. These interrelationships hold potential applications in formulating parameterizations and post-processing model outcomes.

Contact Stress Reliability Analysis Model for Cylindrical Gear with Circular Arc Tooth Trace Based on an Improved Metamodel

Six kinds of emotions,namely joy,surprise,disgust,grief,anger and fear,are elicited from 3.0 ordinary college students by means of high-rated movie *** signals of galvanic skin response(GSR),heart rate(HR),blood volume pulse(BVP),electrocardiogram(ECG),respiration(Rsp.),facial electromyography(EMG) and two channels of electroencephalography(EEG) from the frontal lobe were recorded while the subjects were watching the affective eliciting *** samples of each kind of signals are analyzed by using random matrix theory(RMT).From the distribution of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the correlation matrices of BVP,facial EMG and two EEGs,we find that the statistical properties of these four kinds of signals coincide with the RMT ***,the largest eigenvalue and the corresponding eigenvector component distribution of the correlation matrices of GSR,HR,ECG and *** deviated significantly from the RMT *** experiments also reveal that the correlations between two arbitrary samples of BVP,facial EMG or EEGs does not result from affective response but from random noises,whereas the amplitude variations of GSR,HR,ECG and *** the correlated affective physiological response *** to the data analysis results of RMT,110 features are firstly extracted from the GSR and HR signals,and then a subset of the initial features is selected by using the Backward Selection *** affective data samples each of which is a vector of the features are classified by using a Fisher classifier,and furthermore,the user-independent emotion recognition systems with good prediction performance are constructed during the model selection process.

The Effect of Bovine IFN-α on the Immune Response in Guinea Pigs Vaccinated with DNA Vaccine of Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus

In this study, we constructed recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.1/P12X3.3. including P1, 2A, 3., 3. and part of 2B gene of FMDV and pcDNA3.1/IFN containing the gene encoding bovine IFN-α. We inoculated the DNA vaccine pcDNA3.1/P12X3.3. with or without pcDNA3.1/IFN to evaluate the effi- ciency of this DNA vaccine and the immunogenicity of DNA vaccine enhanced by the co-delivery with pcDNA3.1/IFN. After two times of vaccination with DNA vaccine, all of guinea pigs were challenged with 103.ID50 FMDV type O. Anti-FMDV antibody levels were detected by ELISA and T lymphocyte proliferation response was tested by MTT assay. The result shows that guinea pigs inoculated by pcDNA3.1/P12X3.3. alone or with pcDNA3.1/IFN generated specific antibodies and induced an FMDV-specific T lymphocyte proliferation response. FMDV challenge tests showed that one in four guinea pigs immunized by pcDNA3.1/ P12X3.3. with pcDNA3.1/IFN was protected from the FMDV serotype O infection. This result indicated that the efficiency of the DNA vaccine was enhanced by co-delivery with pcDNA3.1/IFN. However, the protection rate was considerably lower than that immunized with conventional FMD vaccine.

On the two-layer high-level Green-Naghdi model in a general form

The traditional high-level Green-Naghdi(HLGN)model,which uses the polynomial as the shape function to approximate the variation of the horizontal-and vertical-velocity components along the vertical direction for each-fluid layer,can accurately describe the large-amplitude internal waves in a two-layer system for the shallow configuration(h_(2)/λ■1,h_(1)/λ■1).However,for the cases of the deep configuration(h_(2)/λ■1,h_(1)/λ=O(1)),higher-order polynomial is needed to approximate the variation of the velocity components along the vertical direction for the lower-fluid ***,however,introduces additional unknowns,leading to a significant increase in computational *** paper,for the first time,derives a general form of the HLGN model for a two-layer fluid system,where the general form of the shape function is used during the *** obtaining the general form of the two-layer HLGN equations,corresponding solutions can be obtained by determining the reasonable shape ***-amplitude internal solitary waves in a deep configuration are studied by use of two different HLGN *** of the two HLGN models shows that the polynomial as the shape function for the upper-fluid layer and the production of exponential and polynomial as the shape function for the lower-fluid layer is a good *** comparing with Euler’s solutions and the laboratory measurements,the accuracy of the two-layer HLGN model is verified.

A red-emitting phosphor Ca_(2.91)Si_(2)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) with partial Al^(3.)/P^(5+) substitution on Si^(4+) was synthesized via a simple solid-state method,and the effects of the introduction of the M^(3./5+)(M=Al,P)ions on the crystal structure and photoluminescence performance of Ca_(2.91)Si_(2−x)M_(x)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) phosphors were *** X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results revealed that the structure of Ca_(3.Si_(2)O_(7) remained the same after the introduction of Al^(3.) and P^(5+) *** characteristic emission of Eu^(3.)-doped Ca_(3.Si_(2−x)M_(x)O_(7) phosphors exhibited two main peaks at 617 nm(red)and 593.nm(orange)under excitation at 3.4 nm,which originated from the^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2)and^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(1) electron transitions of Eu^(3.) *** the partial substitution of Al^(3.) and P^(5+),the red emission intensities of the Ca_(2.91)Si_(2)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) phosphors were significantly enhanced by 1.88-and 1.42-fold,respectively,which is attributed to the crystal-field effect around Eu^(3.).Meanwhile,the luminescence intensities of the Ca_(2.91)Si_(1.96)Al_(0.04)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) and Ca_(2.91)Si_(1.94)P_(0.06)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) phosphors at 210℃ were 79.3.%and 77.53.of those at 3.°C,respectively,indicating their excellent thermal ***,the as-prepared Ca_(2.91)Si_(1.96)Al_(0.04)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.)and Ca_(2.91)Si_(1.94)P_(0.06)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) red-emitting phosphors were combined with a near-ultraviolet chip of 3.5 nm to fabricate red-light-emitting diode(LED)and white(w)-LED devices with excellent chromaticity *** summary,Al^(3.)/P^(5+)-substituted Ca_(2.91)Si_(2)O_(7):0.09Eu^(3.) can serve as red-emitting phosphors for applications in w-LEDs.

Royal jelly(RJ)is a biologically active substance secreted by the hypopharyngeal and mandibular glands of worker *** is widely claimed that RJ reduces oxidative ***,the antioxidant activity of RJ has mostly been determined by in vitro chemical detection methods or by external administration drugs that cause oxidative *** RJ can clear the endogenous production of reactive oxygen species(ROS)in cells remains largely ***,we systematically investigated the antioxidant properties of RJ using several endogenous oxidative stress models of *** found that RJ enhanced sleep quality of aging Drosophila,which is decreased due to an increase of oxidative damage with *** supplementation improved survival and suppressed ROS levels in gut cells of flies upon exposure to hydrogen peroxide or to the neurotoxic agent ***,RJ supplementation moderated levels of ROS in endogenous gut cells and extended lifespan after exposure of flies to heat *** deprivation leads to accumulation of ROS in the gut cells,and RJ attenuated the consequences of oxidative stress caused by sleep loss and prolonged ***,RJ prevented cell oxidative damage caused by heat stress or sleep deprivation,with the antioxidant activity in vivo independent of Keap1/Nrf2 *** supplementation activated oxidoreductase activity in the guts of flies,suggesting its ability to inhibit endogenous oxidative stress and maintain health,possibly in humans.

Ti-based catalysts are known to improve the hydrogen storage performance of NaAlH4by facilitating the dissociation/recombination of H-H and Al-H *** catalytic activity of metallic Ti species strongly depends on its particle size and *** clusters and even single atoms are therefore highly desirable,but their controllable fabrication has been highly *** rein,we demonstrate a novel facile sonochemical synthesis of a Ti-O clusters featuring single Ti atom catalyst at room *** reducing TiCl_(4)by MgBu_(2)with ultrasound instead of heating as driving force,numerous single Ti atoms coupled with Ti-O clusters with Ti loading on graphene(Ti_(1)/Ti-O@G)up to 22.6 wt%have been successfully *** prepared Ti_(1)/Ti-O@G contributes high reactivity and superior catalytic activity,therefore enabling full dehydrogenation of NaAlH_(4)at 80℃in thermogravimetric mode and re-hydrogenation at 3.℃and 10 MPa with 4.9 wt% H_(2).This fact indicates for the first time that single Ti atom catalyst with high loading is highly effective in catalyzing hydrogen cycling of NaAlH4at remarkably reduced temperatures.
