Efficacy of comprehensive remote ischemic conditioning in elderly patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention

BACKGROUND Remote ischemic conditioning(RIC)is used to protect against myocardial ***,there is no adequate evidence for comprehensive RIC in elderly patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI).This study aimed to test whether comprehensive RIC,started pre-primary percutaneous coronary intervention(PPCI)and repeated daily on 1-30 days post-PPCI,can improve myocardial salvage index(SI),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire Clinical Summary Score(KCCQ-CSS)and 6-min walk test distance(6MWD)in elderly patients with acute STEMI during 12 months *** 328 consenting elderly patients were randomized to receive standard PPCI plus comprehensive RIC(the treatment group)or standard PPCI(the control group).SI at 5-7 days after PPCI,LVEF,left ventricular end-diastolic volume index(LVEDVI),left ventricular end-systolic volume index(LVESVI),KCCQ-CSS,6MWD and adverse events rates were measured and *** SI was significantly higher in the treatment group[interquartile range(IQR):0.38-0.66,P=0.037].There were no significant differences in major adverse events at 12 *** the differences of LVEDVI,LVESVI and LVEF between the treatment group and the control group did not reach statistical significance at 6 months and 12 months,LVEF tended to be higher,LVEDVI tended to be lower in the treatment *** KCCQ-CSS was significantly higher in the treatment group at 1 month(IQR:46.5-87,P=0.001)and 12 months(IQR:55-93,P=0.008).There was significant difference in 6MWD between the treatment group and the control group(IQR:258-360 ***:250-345,P=0.002)at 1 month and(IQR:360-445 ***:345-432,P=0.035)at 12 months.A modest correlation was found between SI and LVEF(r=0.452,P<0.01),KCCQ-CSS(r=0.440,P<0.01)and 6MWD(r=0.384,P<0.01)respectively at 12 *** The comprehensive RIC can improve SI,KCCQ-CSS and *** may be an adjunctive therapy to PPCI in elderly patients with STEMI

Effect of radio frequency bias on plasma characteristics of inductively coupled argon discharge based on fluid simulations

t A fluid model is employed to investigate the effect of radio frequency bias on the behavior of an argon inductively coupled plasma(ICP).In particular,the effects of ICP source power,single-frequency bias power,and dual-frequency bias power on the characteristics of ICP are simulated at a fixed pressure of 30 mTorr(1 Torr=1.33322×102 Pa).When the bias frequency is fixed at 27.12 MHz,the two-dimensional(2D)plasma density profile is significantly affected by the bias power at low ICP source power(e.g.,50 W),whereas it is weakly affected by the bias power at higher ICP source power(e.g.,100 W).When dual-frequency(27.12 MHz/2.26 MHz)bias is applied and the sum of bias powers is fixed at 500 W,a pronounced increase in the maximum argon ion density is observed with the increase of the bias power ratio in the absence of ICP source *** the ratio of 27.12-MHz/2.26-MHz bias power decreases from 500 W/0 W to 0 W/500 W with the ICP source power fixed at 50 W,the plasma density profiles smoothly shifts from edge-high to center-high,and the effect of bias power on the plasma distribution becomes weaker with the bias power ratio ***,the axial ion flux at the substrate surface is characterized by a maximum at the edge of the *** the ICP source power is higher,the 2D plasma density profiles,as well as the spatiotemporal and radial distributions of ion flux at the substrate surface are characterized by a peak in the reactor center,and the distributions of plasma parameters are negligibly affected by the dual-frequency bias power ratio.

RNA interference (RNAi) is an evolutionally conserved gene silencing mechanism present in a variety of eukaryotic species. RNAi uses short double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) to trigger degradation or translation repression of homologous RNA targets in a sequence-specific manner. This system can be induced effectively in vitro and in vivo by direct application of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), or by expression of short hairpin RNA (shRNA) with non-viral and viral vectors. To date, RNAi has been extensively used as a novel and effective tool for functional genomic studies, and has displayed great potential in treating human diseases, including human genetic and acquired disorders such as cancer and viral infections. In the present review, we focus on the recent development in the use of RNAi in the prevention and treatment of viral infections. The mechanisms, strategies, hurdles and prospects of employing RNAi in the pharmaceutical industry are also discussed.

Value of the Ratio of Occluder Versus Atrial Septal Length for Predicting Arrhythmia Occurrence after Transcatheter Closure in Children with Ostium Secundum Atrial Septal Defect

Background：Transcatheter occlusion has been applied to treat ostium secundum atrial septal defect （OS ASD） since *** the clinical practice,several postoperative complications including arrhythmia have been *** study aimed to evaluate the value of the ratio of atrial septal occluder （ASO） versus atrial septal length （ASL） for predicting arrhythmia occurrence after transcatheter closure in children with OS ***：Six hundred and fifty-one children diagnosed with OS ASD underwent occlusion procedures after completing routine *** onsets and types of arrhythmia both during and after the occlusion procedures were *** were given based on the individual types of *** binary logistic regression analysis and receiver-operating characteristic （ROC） curve were used in the analysis of value of the ratio of ASO/ASL for predicting postoperative arrhythmia ***：Transcather occlusions were conducted in 651 children,among whom 7 children had different types and degrees of arrhythmia,with an incidence of 1.1%.The types of arrhythmia included sinus bradycardia,atrial premature beats,bundle branch block,and different degrees of atrioventricular *** electrocardiograph findings were resumed in these 7 patients following active therapies such as corticoids,nutrition,and *** binary logistic regression and ROC analysis suggested that the ratio of ASO/ASL exhibited an intermediate predictive value for predicting arrhythmia occurrence after occlusion procedures.A cut-offvalue of 0.576 in the ratio provided a sensitivity of 87.5% and a specificity of 76.2% with an area under the ROC curve of 0.791 （95% confidence intervals,0.655-0.926;P 〈 0.05） in predicting arrhythmia occurrence after the closure ***：The ratio of ASO/ASL might be a useful index for predicting arrhythmia occurrence after closure procedures in children with OS ASD.

Non-centrosymmetric material systems can generate spontaneous photocurrent without a p-n junction under uniform illumination, which is known as the bulk photovoltaic effect（BPVE）. It has garnered significant attention for its application potential in the fields of energy harvesting and photoelectric detection. In this study, we report the BPVE observed in twodimensional ferroelectric α-In2Se3multilayer flakes. The reversal in spontaneous photocurrent polarity is observed and associated with the out-of-plane ferroelectric polarization direction. The spontaneous photocurrent originating from the shift current is also polarization-sensitive. The amplitude of spontaneous photocurrent is further increased by one order of magnitude through vacuum annealing. Our results provide a further application potential for new-generation photodetectors based on BPVE with low power consumption and multi-dimensional optoelectronic detection.

Innovative Approaches to Task Scheduling in Cloud Computing Environments Using an Advanced Willow Catkin Optimization Algorithm

The widespread adoption of cloud computing has underscored the critical importance of efficient resource allocation and management, particularly in task scheduling, which involves assigning tasks to computing resources for optimized resource utilization. Several meta-heuristic algorithms have shown effectiveness in task scheduling, among which the relatively recent Willow Catkin Optimization (WCO) algorithm has demonstrated potential, albeit with apparent needs for enhanced global search capability and convergence speed. To address these limitations of WCO in cloud computing task scheduling, this paper introduces an improved version termed the Advanced Willow Catkin Optimization (AWCO) algorithm. AWCO enhances the algorithm’s performance by augmenting its global search capability through a quasi-opposition-based learning strategy and accelerating its convergence speed via sinusoidal mapping. A comprehensive evaluation utilizing the CEC2014 benchmark suite, comprising 30 test functions, demonstrates that AWCO achieves superior optimization outcomes, surpassing conventional WCO and a range of established meta-heuristics. The proposed algorithm also considers trade-offs among the cost, makespan, and load balancing objectives. Experimental results of AWCO are compared with those obtained using the other meta-heuristics, illustrating that the proposed algorithm provides superior performance in task scheduling. The method offers a robust foundation for enhancing the utilization of cloud computing resources in the domain of task scheduling within a cloud computing environment.
