Cerberus is a multifunctional antagonist implicated in embryonic patterning through modulation of Nodal,BMP and Wnt *** its function is largely conserved in chordates,certain activities have diverged,even among ***,the antagonistic action of Cerberus from the basal chordate amphioxus toward Nodal,BMP and Wnt signals remains ***,we compared the activity of amphioxus and Xenopus Cerberus proteins using cross-species *** found that amphioxus and Xenopus Cerberus proteins display similar activities in antagonizing Nodal-induced events,but they exhibit both shared and distinct activities in modulating BMP and Wnt *** Cerberus has reduced neuralizing activity that is dependent on inhibition of BMP signaling,and it modulates the signals of a restricted subset of Wnt ***,we revealed that Xenopus Cerberus interacts with Wnt4 and Wntl 1 to activate canonical Wnt signaling,whereas amphioxus Cerberus lacks this *** differences may be correlated with the divergence in the N-terminal region of Cerberus proteins between amphioxus and *** results indicate that chordate Cerberus proteins have evolved sub-functionalities that depend not only on their concentrations,but also on the properties of BMP and Wnt *** may account for their evolutionary distinct functions in different patterning processes.

A STUDY ON WETLAND CLASSIFICATION MODEL OF REMOTE SENSING IN THE SANGJIANG PLAIN

The Sanjiang Plain, where nearly 20 kinds of wetlands exist now, is one of the largest wetlands distributed area of wetlands in China. To identify each of them and pick up them separately by means of automatic interpretation of remote sensing from TM Landsat images is extremely important. However, most of the types of wetlands can not be divided each other due to the similarity and the illegibility of the wetland spectrum shown in TM images. Special disposals to remote sensing images include the spectrum enhancement of wetland information, the pseudo color composite of TM images of different bands and the algebra enhancement of TM images. By this way some kinds of wetlands such as Sparganium stoloniferum and Bolboschoenus maritimus can be identified. But in many cases, these methods are still insufficient because of the noise brought from the atmosphere transportation and so on. The physical features of wetlands reflecting the diversification of spectrum information of wetlands, which include the spatial temporal characteristics of the wetlands distribution, the landscape differences of wetlands from season to season, the growing environment and the vertical structure of wetlands vegetation and so on, must be taken into consideration. Besides these, the artificial alteration to spatial structure of wetlands such as the exploitation of some types of them can be also used as important symbols of wetlands identification from remote sensing images. On the basis of the above geographics analysis, a set of wetlands classification models of remote sensing could be established, and many types of wetlands such as paddy field, reed swamp, peat mire, meadow, CAREX marsh and paludification meadow and so on, will be distinguished consequently. All the ways of geographical analysis and model establishment will be given in detail in this article.

Orientin is a flavonoid *** recent years,its importance as a source of pharmacological active substance is growing rapidly due to its properties such as anti-myocardial ischemia,anti-apoptosis,anti-radiation,anti-tumor,and ***,the neuroprotective effects of Orientin on stroke injury have not been comprehensively *** aim of the present study was thus to investigate the neuroprotective capacity and the potential mechanisms of Cyperus esculentus ***(CLO)from Cyperus esculentus *** against ischemia/reperfusion(I/R)injury using standard orientin as *** in vitro studies,we treated HT22 cells with CoCl2 as an in vitro ischemic injury ***22 cells in the control group were treated with *** in vivo studies,we used rat models of middle cerebral artery occlusion,and animals that received sham surgery were used as *** found that CLO protected CoCl2-induced HT22 cells against ischemia/reperfusion injury by lowering lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species formation as well as decreasing protein ***,CLO did not reduce the release of lactate dehydrogenase nor increase the activity of superoxide *** showed that CLO could decrease neurological deficit score,attenuate brain water content,and reduce cerebral infarct volume,leading to neuroprotection during cerebral ischemia-reperfusion *** studies indicate that CLO flavonoids can be taken as a natural antioxidant and bacteriostastic substance in food and pharmaceutical *** molecular mechanisms of CLO could be at least partially attributed to the antioxidant properties and subsequently inhibiting activation of *** experimental procedures and protocols were approved on May 16,2016 by the Experimental Animal Ethics Committee of Xinjiang Medical University of China(approval ***20160516-57).

AIM： To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of ranibizumab for wet age-related macular degeneration （wAMD） in Chinese patients and to determine the mean number of injections administered over one year of follow-up. METHODS： This single centre, retrospective observational case series study included data from 121 patients with wAMD （121 eyes） who were diagnosed by indirect ophthalmoscopy, fluorescence fundus angiography （FFA）, indocyanine green angiography, and optical coherence tomography. Ranibizumab was injected into the vitreous cavities once per month for 3mo and as needed afterwards. Changes in visual acuity and central foveal thickness （CFT） during the follow-up period were compared, and the mean number of injections over the year was calculated. Patients with one or more adverse events related to the drugs and injections were recorded for further adverse events ***： The study population included 70 males and 51 females aged between 50 and 87y （mean： 71.32±9.41y）. The mean number of injections over the first year was 5±1 （range： 3-9）. The mean best-corrected visual acuity by Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study increased from 43.2±19.3 （95%CI： 39.8-46.7） at baseline to 51.7±20.1 （95%CI： 48.1-55.3）, and central foveal thickness （CFT） decreased from 526.5±277.0 μm （95%CI： 476.6-576.4） to 258.2±161.6 μm （95%CI： 229.2-287.3） at 12mo. The differences were statistically significant （P〈0.001）. Visual acuity significantly improved in 34.1% of the patients （38 eyes）, stabilized in 66.1% of the patients （80 eyes）, and significantly decreased in 2.5% of the patients （3 eyes）. CFT at baseline was an independent risk factor of decreased CFT and increased visual acuity. Spinal cord injury（SCI） from trauma or disease severely impairs sensory and motor function. Neurorehabilitation after SCI is a complex medical process that focuses on improving neurologic function and repairing damaged connections in the central nervous system. An increasing number of preclinical studies suggest that melatonin may be useful for the treatment of SCI. Melatonin is an indolamine that is primarily secreted by the pineal gland and known to be regulated by photoperiodicity. However, it is also a versatile hormone with antioxidative, antiapoptotic, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties. Here, we review the neuroprotective properties of melatonin and the potential mechanisms by which it might be beneficial in the treatment of SCI. We also describe therapies that combine melatonin with exercise, oxytetracycline, and dexamethasone to attenuate the secondary injury after SCI and limit potential side effects. Finally, we discuss how injury at different spinal levels may differentially affect the secretion of melatonin.

Shielding materials are critical for downhole pulsed neutron tool design because they directly influence the accuracy of formation measurements.A well-designed shield configuration ensures that the response of the tool is maximally representative of the formation without being affected by the tool and borehole *** study investigated the effects of boron-containing materials on neutron and gamma detectors based on a newly designed logging-while-drilling tool that is currently undergoing *** the boron content increased,the ability to absorb thermal neutrons increased *** simulation,it was proven that boron carbide(B_(4)C)can be used as an effective boron shielding material for thermal neutrons,and is therefore employed in this *** shield against thermal neutrons migrating from the mud pipes,the optimal shielding thicknesses for the near-and far-neutron detectors were determined to be 5 and 4 *** a porosity of 25 p.u.,near-neutron sensitivity exhibited a 5.6%***,to shield the capture gamma generated by thermal neutrons once they enter the tool from the mud pipe and formation,internal and external shields for the gamma detector were *** results show that the internal shield requires a boron content of 75%,whereas the external shield has a thickness of 14.2 mm thickness and a boron content of 25%to minimize the tool effect.

The N-cyclopropyl-9-（3,4-dicholophenyl）- 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10-decahydroacri- dine-1,8-dione was synthesized by the reaction of 1,3-cyclohexanedione, N-cyclopropylamine and 3,4-dicholoaldehyde in water and glycol under microwave irradiation. Its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It possesses P212121 space group, with a = 9.9103（5）, b = 13.3597（8）, c = 14.5633（8）A, V= 1928.16（18）A3 ,Mr = 402.30, Z = 4, Dc= 1.386 g/cm^3, 2 = 0.7107A,μ（MoKα）=0.354mm^-1 and F （000） = 840. The structure was refined to R = 0.0280 and wR = 0.0757. In the structure, the pyridine ring adopts a boat conformation.

AIM： To compare the effect, adverse events, cost-effectiveness and dose intensity （DI） of oral Xeloda vs calcium folinate （CF）/5-FU combination chemotherapy in patients with advanced gastrointestinal malignancies, both combined with bi-platinu two-way chemotherapy.METHODS： A total of 131 patients were enrolled and randomly selected to receive either oral Xeloda （X group） or CF/5-FU （control group）. Oral Xeloda 1 000 mg/m^2 was administered twice daily from d 1 to 14 in X group, while CF 200 mg/m^2 was taken as a 2-h intravenous infusion followed by 5-FU 600 mg/m^2 intravenously for 4-6 h on d 1-5 in control group. Cisplatin and oxaliplatin were administered in the same way to both the groups： cisplatin 60-80 mg/m^2 by hyperthermic intraperitoneal administration, and oxaliplatin 130 mg/m^2 intravenouslyfor 2 h on d 1. All the drugs were recycled every 21 d, with at least two cycles. Pyridoxine 50 mg was given t.i.d. orally for prophylaxis of the hand-foot syndrome （HFS）. Then the effect, adverse events, cost-effectiveness and DI of the two groups were evaluated.RESULTS： Hundred and fourteen cases （87.0%） finished more than two chemotherapy cycles. The overall response rate of them was 52.5% （X group） and 42.4% （control group） respectively. Tumor progression time （TTP） was 7.35 mo vs5.95 too, and 1-year survival rate was 53.1% vs 44.5%. There was a remarkable statistical significance of TTP and 1-year survival between the two groups. The main Xelocla-related adverse events were myelosuppression, gastrointestinal toxicity, neurotoxicity and HFS, which were mild and well tolerable. Therefore, no patients withdrew from the study due to side effects before two chemotherapy cycles were finished. Both groups finished pre-arranged DI and the relative DI was nearly 1.0. The average cost for 1 patient in one cycle was ￥9 137.35 （X group） and ￥8 961.72 （control group）, or US ＄1 100.89 in X group and ＄1 079.73 in control group.
