PDK1 promotes breast cancer progression by enhancing the stability and transcriptional activity of HIF-1α

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is a key factor in stress adaptation and avoidance of a social stress behavioral *** studies have shown that brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in stressed mice is brain region–specific,particularly involving the corticolimbic system,including the ventral tegmental area,nucleus accumbens,prefrontal cortex,amygdala,and *** how brain-derived neurotrophic factor participates in stress processing in different brain regions will deepen our understanding of social stress *** this review,we discuss the expression and regulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor in stress-sensitive brain regions closely related to the pathophysiology of *** focused on associated molecular pathways and neural circuits,with special attention to the brain-derived neurotrophic factor–tropomyosin receptor kinase B signaling pathway and the ventral tegmental area–nucleus accumbens dopamine *** determined that stress-induced alterations in brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels are likely related to the nature,severity,and duration of stress,especially in the above-mentioned brain regions of the corticolimbic ***,BDNF might be a biological indicator regulating stress-related processes in various brain regions.

Lightweight thin-walled structures with lattice infill are widely desired in satellite for their high stiffness-to-weight ratio and superior buckling strength resulting fromthe sandwich *** structures can be fabricated bymetallic additive manufacturing technique,such as selective laser melting(SLM).However,the maximum dimensions of actual structures are usually in a sub-meter scale,which results in restrictions on their appliance in aerospace and other *** this work,a meter-scale thin-walled structure with lattice infill is designed for the fuel tank supporting component of the satellite by integrating a self-supporting lattice into the thickness optimization of the *** designed structure is fabricated by SLM of AlSi10Mg and cold metal transfer welding ***-static mechanical tests and vibration tests are both conducted to verify the mechanical strength of the designed large-scale lattice thin-walled *** experimental results indicate that themeter-scale thin-walled structure with lattice infill could meet the dimension and lightweight requirements of most spacecrafts.

Study on concentration distribution and detonation characteristics for non-axisymmetric fuel dispersal

The study of non-axisymmetric fuel dispersal and detonation can provide reference for the prevention of industrial cloud explosion accidents and the design of fuel air explosive(FAE).The concentration and detonation fields of 85 kg cylindrical and fan-shaped fuel are investigated by experiments and numerical simulations.A dynamic model of the whole process for fuel dispersal and detonation is *** concentration distribution of fuel is used as the initial condition to calculate the detonation stage,thus solving the initial value problem of detonation *** phase and component changes of fuel cloud at different locations are *** fuel cloud is divided into directions of 0°,90°,135°and 180°.The results show that the maximum cloud radius is 20.94 m in 135°and the minimum is 12.04 m in 0°.The diameter of the detonation fireball is 53.6 m,and the peak temperature is 3455 *** highest peak overpressure is 3.44 MPa in 0°and the lowest is 2.97 MPa in 135°.The proportion of liquid phase in 0°is22.90%,and the fuel loss is 11.8% and 9% higher than that in 135°and cylindrical charge,*** stable propagation distance of blast wave in 135°is 42.50% longer than 0°and 28.37% longer than cylindrical charge.

Origin of the near-room temperature resistance transition in lutetium with H2/N2 gas mixture under high pressure

The recent report of room-temperature superconductivity at near-ambient pressure in nitrogen-doped lutetium hydride（Lu-H-N） by Dasenbrock-Gammon et al. [Nature 615, 244–250（2023）] has attracted tremendous attention due to its anticipated great impact on technology. However, the results could not be independently reproduced by other groups worldwide in follow-up studies, which elicited intense controversy. Here, we develop a reliable experimental protocol to minimize the extensively concerned extrinsic influences on the sample by starting the reaction from pure lutetium loaded with an H2/N2gas mixture in a diamond anvil cell under different pressures and temperatures and simultaneously monitoring the entire chemical reaction process using in situ four-probe resistance measurements. Therefore, we could repeatedly reproduce the near-room temperature upsurge of electrical resistance at a relatively early stage of the chemical reaction. However, the mechanism is suggested to be a metal-to-semiconductor/insulator transition associated with the structural modulation in the non-stoichiometric Lu-H-N, rather than superconductivity.

Gut barrier disruption is a key event in bridging gut microbiota dysbiosis and high-fat diet(HFD)-associated metabolic ***,the underlying mechanism remains *** the present study,by comparing HFD-and normal diet(ND)-treated mice,we found that the HFD instantly altered the composition of the gut microbiota and subsequently damaged the integrity of the gut *** sequencing revealed that the HFD upregulates gut microbial functions related to redox reactions,as confirmed by the increased reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in fecal microbiota incubation in vitro and in the lumen,which were detected using in vivo fluorescence *** microbial ROS-producing capability induced by HFD can be transferred through fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)into germ-free(GF)mice,downregulating the gut barrier tight ***,mono-colonizing GF mice with an Enterococcus strain excelled in ROS production,damaged the gut barrier,induced mitochondrial malfunction and apoptosis of the intestinal epithelial cells,and exacerbated fatty liver,compared with other low-ROS-producing Enterococcus *** administration of recombinant high-stability-superoxide dismutase(SOD)significantly reduced intestinal ROS,protected the gut barrier,and improved fatty liver against the *** conclusion,our study suggests that extracellular ROS derived from gut microbiota play a pivotal role in HFD-induced gut barrier disruption and is a potential therapeutic target for HFD-associated metabolic diseases.

Improving surface integrity of micro-holes in ECDM using ultrahigh-speed rotary of tool cathode and non-water-based electrolyte

The surface integrity of metal micro-hole structures produced by electrochemical discharge machining is unsatisfactory owing to the insufficient reaction area and strength of electrolysis action.A novel ultrahigh-speed Rotary Electrochemical Discharge Machining(R-ECDM)using non-water-based electrolyte is proposed to improve surface integrity by changing the breakdown medium of spark discharge and increasing the reaction area and strength of electrolysis.A mathematical model was developed to establish the relationship between rotational speed and forces acting on the *** on the magnitude of forces,controlling rotational speed changed the behavior and departure radius of bubbles on the cathode ***-speed photographs validate that,in the mathematical model,the number and departure radius of bubbles on the cathode surface gradually decrease with the increase of rotational *** experimental results show that the roughness(Ra)of the micro-hole sidewall decreases from 2.54μm to 0.20μm when the rotational speed increases from 500 r/min to 40000 r/*** length loss and wear ratio of the cathode are only 9.75μm and 6.5%,***,the micro-holes array with recast-free and surface roughness of 0.20μm is fabricated,demonstrating that the proposed approach contributes to improving surface integrity of metal micro-holes.

Stable graphene oxide-based lyotropic liquid crystals for interfacial lubrication

Lyotropic liquid crystals have lubricating properties due to their ordered assembly and fluidity,whose mesogens are often characterized by amphiphilic *** the attention that graphene oxide(GO)has been studied as a novel amphiphilic lyotropic mesogen this decade,and GO applied as a lubrication additive has been demonstrated in both oil and water-based systems,little research reveals the interfacial lubrication of GO liquid crystals *** work reports that GO aqueous dispersion can form lyotropic liquid crystals above a specific critical concentration of 5.00 mg/mL,providing a form of stable water-based lubricant,which can keep stable for several months and can reduce friction by 37.3%and wear by 25.24%.The liquid crystal phase was verified by polarizing microscope and synchrotron radiation small-angle X-ray scattering,and its rheological properties and viscoelasticity were studied by interfacial *** formation of lyotropic liquid crystals can enhance the stability of GO aqueous dispersions at high density,simultaneously ensuring friction decrease and anti-wear *** is attributed to the stable nematic network by the ordered GO *** ordered assembly structure bears vertical shear force,therefore,reducing the *** is also assumed that the wide lateral size of graphene oxide promotes the nematic phase thus smoothes the graphene oxide film composed spontaneously under the coincidence of lamellar liquid crystal and 2D layered *** this work,the interlayer lubrication of GO was optimized,and the problem of GO dispersion sedimentation was solved by *** range of interfacial lubrication of GO aqueous dispersion has been expanded and the synergistic effect is conducive to the environmentally friendly lubricants.

Introduction:Coxsackievirus A6(CVA6)has emerged as a significant pathogen responsible for severe cases of hand,foot,and mouth disease(HFMD).This study aims to delineate the demographic characteristics and analyze the viral evolution of severe HFMD associated with CVA6,thereby assisting in its surveillance and ***:In this investigation,74 strains of CVA6 were isolated from samples collected from severe HFMD cases between 2012 and *** VP1 gene sequences of CVA6 were amplified and analyzed to assess population historical dynamics and evolutionary characteristics using BEAST,DnaSP6,and ***:A significant portion(94.4%)of severe CVA6-associated HFMD cases(51 out of 54,with 20 lacking age information)were children under 5 years *** the 74 CVA6 strains analyzed,72 belonged to the D3a sub-genotype,while only two strains were D2 *** average genetic distance between VP1 sequences prior to 2015 was 0.027,which increased to 0.051 when compared to sequences *** population dynamics analysis indicated three significant population expansions of severe CVA6-associated HFMD during 2012-2013,2013-2014,and 2019-2020,resulting in the formation of 65 distinct *** with the MCC tree findings,transitioning between regional haplotypes required multiple base substitutions,showcasing an increase in population diversity during the evolutionary process(from 14 haplotypes in 2013 to 55 haplotypes over the subsequent decade).Conclusions:CVA6,associated with severe HFMD,is evolving and presents a risk of outbreak ***,enhanced surveillance of severe HFMD is imperative.
