A new nonfullerene acceptor with an extended π conjugation core enables ternary organic solar cells approaching 19%efficiency

In organic solar cells(OSCs),it is an effective way to improve the power conversion efficiency(PCE)by adding a guest component with appropriate absorption and energy levels in the host system.Herein,a new nonfullerene acceptor(NFA)named TBF-2Cl was developed by the strategy of expanding theπconjugated core of 2,2’-(((4,4,9,9-tetrahexyl-4,9-dihydro-s-indaceno[1,2-b:5,6-b’]dithiophene-2,7-diyl)bis(methaneylylidene))bis(5,6-dichloro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene-2,1-diylidene))dimalononitrile(IDT-4Cl)with two benzene rings.With increase of benzene units,TBF-2Cl exhibits higher lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(luMO)level of-3.75 eV than that of one benzene unit based NFA IDT-4Cl and fluorene core based NFA F-2Cl,which facilitates enhancing the open-circuit voltage(V_(oc))of ternary devices.Moreover,TBF-2Cl film shows a medium optical bandgap with the absorption range from 500-800 nm,being well complementary with the wide bandgap polymer donor D18 and narrow bandgap NFA CH-6F.Accordingly,a remarkable PCE of 18.92%with a high short-circuit current density(J_(sc))of 27.40 mA·cm^(-2),a fill factor(FF)of 0.749,especially an outstanding V_(oc) of 0.922 V was achieved for the optimal ternary device based on D18:TBF-2Cl:CH-6F,surpassing the binary counterpart(17.08%).The findings provide insight into the development of new guest acceptors for obtaining more efficient OSCs.

Solid-state batteries represent the future of energy storage technology,offering improved safety and energy ***-type Li_(7)La_(3)Zr_(2)O_(12)(LLZO)solidstate electrolytes-based solid-state lithium batteries(SSLBs)stand out for their appealingmaterial properties and chemical stability.Yet,their successful deployment depends on conquering interfacial challenges.This review article primarily focuses on the advancement of interfacial engineering for LLZO-based SSLBs.We commence with a concise introduction to solid-state electrolytes and a discussion of the challenges tied to interfacial properties in LLZO-based SSLBs.We deeply explore the correlations between structure and properties and the design principles vital for achieving an ideal electrode/electrolyte interface.Subsequently,we delve into the latest advancements and strategies dedicated to overcoming these challenges,with designated sections on cathode and anode interface design.In the end,we share our insights into the advancements and opportunities for interface design in realizing the full potential of LLZO-based SSLBs,ultimately contributing to the development of safe and high-performance energy storage solutions.

Nickel-Catalyzed Regioselective Hydrosilylation of Conjugated Dienes

With the increasing demand for homoallylic silanes and allylic silanes,the highly efficient and regioselective hydrosilylations of conjugated dienes are urgently needed.Herein,we developed a Ni-catalyzed regiodivergent hydrosilylation of aromatic conjugated dienes by adjusting the temperature and ligands.Under low temperature(-30℃),an eternal-ligand-free system(Ni/t-BuOk)can efficiently facilitate the 3,4-anti-Markovnikov hydrosilylation to provide homoallylic silanes via electrophilic activation process;under room temperature(25℃),a ligand-controlled system(Ni/t-BuOk/PPh3)can eventuate the 3,4-Markovnikov hydrosilylation to produce allylic silanes via Chalk-Harrod process.Both systems are compatible with various conjugated dienes and primary silanes in excellent yields andregioselectivities.

Understanding the influence of electrode material’s morphology on electrochemical behavior is of great significance for the development of rechargeable batteries,however,such studies are often limited by the inability to precisely control the morphology of electrode materials.Herein,nanostructured titanium niobium oxides(TiNb_(2)O_(7))with three different morphologies(one-dimensional(1D),two-dimensional(2D),and three-dimensional(3D))were synthesized via a facile microwave-assisted solvothermal method.The influence of the morphological dimension of TiNb_(2)O_(7) as electrode material on the electrochemical performance in Li-ion batteries(LIBs)and the underlying correlation with the electrochemical kinetics were studied in detail.2D TiNb_(2)O_(7)(TNO-2D)shows a superior rate capability and cycling stability,associated with improved kinetics for charge transfer and Li-ion diffusion,compared to the 1D and 3D materials.Operando X-ray diffraction measurements reveal the structural stability and crystallographic evolution of TNO-2D upon lithiation and delithiation and correlate the Li-ion diffusion kinetics with the lattice evolution during battery charge and discharge.Moreover,carbon-coated TNO-2D achieves enhanced rate capability(205 mAh·g^(-1) at 50 C)and long-term cycling stability(87%after 1000 cycles at 5 C).This work provides insights into the rational morphology design of electrode materials for accelerated charge transfer and enhanced fast-charging capability,pushing forward the development of electrode materials for high-power rechargeable batteries in future energy storage.

The Mediterranean diet has long been recognized as one of the most effective ways to prevent and improve cardiovascular disease.Extra virgin olive oil(EVOO)is the typical sources of fat in the Mediterranean diet which have been shown to have noteworthy nutritional value and positive impact on human health.It is worth noting that EVOO owes its superior nutritional value to its bioactive composition.The main component of EVOO is monounsaturated fatty acids(MUFAs)in the form of oleic acid.Oleic acid accounts for up to 70%-80%of EVOO.Secondly,EVOO contains approximately more than 30 phenolic compounds,of which HT is essential for the protection against cardiovascular diseases.In this review,we focused on the potential mechanisms of oleic acid and polyphenols combat cardiovascular diseases risk in terms of oxidative stress,inflammation,blood pressure,endothelial function and cholesterol.This review might provide a reference for the studies on cardiovascular protective effects of EVOO.

Revealing the role of honokiol in human glioma cells by RNA-seq analysis

Background:Glioma is a kind of tumor that easily deteriorates and originates from glial cells in nerve tissue.Honokiol is a bisphenol compound that is an essential monomeric compound extracted from the roots and bark of Magnoliaceae plants.It also has anti-infection,antitumor,and immunomodulatory effects.In this study,we found that honokiol induces cell apoptosis in the human glioma cell lines U87-MG and U251-MG.However,the mechanism through which honokiol regulates glioma cell apoptosis is still unknown.Methods:We performed RNA-seq analysis of U251-MG cells treated with honokiol and control cells.Protein-protein interaction(PPI)network analysis was performed,and the 10 top hub unigenes were examined via real-time quantitative PCR.Furthermore,MAPK signaling and ferroptosis were detected via western blotting.Results:332 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were found,comprising 163 increased and 169 decreased genes.Analysis of the DEGs revealed that various biological processes were enriched,including‘response to hypoxia’,‘cerebellum development cellular response to hypoxia,’‘iron ion binding,’‘oxygen transporter activity,’‘oxygen binding,’‘ferric iron binding,’and‘structural constituent of cytoskeleton.’Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis revealed that the DEGs were enriched in the following pathways:‘mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPK)’,‘Hypoxia-inducible factor 1(HIF-1)’,‘ferroptosis,’‘Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR),’‘Phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase(PI3K)-protein kinase B(Akt),’and‘phagosome.’Among these pathways,the MAPK signaling pathway and ferroptosis were veriﬁed.Conclusion:This study revealed the potential mechanism by which honokiol induces apoptosis and provided a comprehensive analysis of DEGs in honokiol-treated U251-MG cells and the associated signaling pathways.These data could lead to new ideas for future research and therapy for patients with glioma.

Light-Controlled Chemical Reaction Pathways in Disulfide-Based Nonequilibrium Systems

Pathway selection in a complex chemical reaction network(CRN)enables organisms to adapt,evolve,and even learn in response to changing environments.Inspired by this,herein we report an artificial system,where light signal was used to manipulate the reaction pathways in a disulfide-based nonequilibrium CRN.By changing the photon energy and irradiation window,the anion or new radical-mediated pathways were selectively triggered,resulting in a user-defined evolution pathway.Additional photodissipative cycles were achieved by UV(365 nm)irradiation,increasing the total number of reactions from 3 to 7.The emerging pathway selection of the CRN is accurately predictable and controllable even in complex organo-hydrogel materials.We demonstrate up to five-state autonomous sol-gel transitions and the formation of fuel-driven dissipative organo-hydrogel through both chemical and light input.This work represents a new approach to allowing CRNs to communicate with the environment that can be used in the development of materials with lifelike behaviors.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1 RAs)protect against diabetic cardiovascular diseases and nephropathy.However,their activity in diabetic retinopathy(DR)remains unclear.Our retrospective cohort study involving 1626 T2DM patients revealed superior efficacy of GLP-1 RAs in controlling DR compared to other glucose-lowering medications,suggesting their advantage in DR treatment.By single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis and immunostaining,we observed a high expression of GLP-1R in retinal endothelial cells,which was down-regulated under diabetic conditions.Treatment of GLP-1 RAs significantly restored the receptor expression,resulting in an improvement in retinal degeneration,vascular tortuosity,avascular vessels,and vascular integrity in diabetic mice.GO and GSEA analyses further implicated enhanced mitochondrial gene translation and mitochondrial functions by GLP-1 RAs.Additionally,the treatment attenuated STING signaling activation in retinal endothelial cells,which is typically activated by leaked mitochondrial DNA.Expression of STING mRNA was positively correlated to the levels of angiogenic and inflammatory factors in the endothelial cells of human fibrovascular membranes.Further investigation revealed that the cAMP-responsive element binding protein played a role in the GLP-1R signaling pathway on suppression of STING signaling.This study demonstrates a novel role of GLP-1 RAs in the protection of diabetic retinal vasculature by inhibiting STING-elicited inflammatory signals.

A Reliable Iteration Algorithm for One-Bit Compressive Sensing on the Unit Sphere

The one-bit compressed sensing problem is of fundamental importance in many areas,such as wireless communication,statistics,and so on.However,the optimization of one-bit problem coustrained on the unit sphere lacks an algorithm with rigorous mathematical proof of convergence and validity.In this paper,an iteration algorithm is established based on difference-of-convex algorithm for the one-bit compressed sensing problem constrained on the unit sphere,with iterating formula■,where C is the convex cone generated by the one-bit measurements andη_(1)>η_(2)>1/2.The new algorithm is proved to converge as long as the initial point is on the unit sphere and accords with the measurements,and the convergence to the global minimum point of the l_(1)norm is discussed.
