Heat and mass transfer of a LiBr/water absorption heat pump system(AHP)was experimentally studied during working a heating-up *** examination was performed for a single spiral tube,which was simulated for heat transfer tubes in an *** inside and outside of the tube were subjected to a film flow of the absorption liquid and exposed to the atmosphere,*** maximum temperature of the absorption liquid was observed not at the entrance but in the region a little downward from the entrance in the *** steam absorption convective heat transfer coefficient between the liquid film flowing down and the inside wall of the temperature and the film temperature at the maximum temperature location and the *** film heat and mass transfer coefficients rose with increasing Reynolds number of the liquid film *** coefficients showed opposite trend to the empirical correlation reported for laminar film flow on a straight smooth tube in a refrigeration mode in the past *** fact can be caused due to a turbulent promotion effect of the liquid in a spiral tube.

Single Exposure to Antidepressants during Infancy Is Associated with Delayed Behavioral Changes in C57BL/6 Mice

As serotoninergic transmission plays a crucial role in higher brain function in mammals, the disturbance of this system will likely have significant effects on emotion and cognition. Previous studies have reported that chronic treatment with Specific Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) during both late pregnancy and lactation was associated with abnormal behavior in adult rats. These data imply that disturbances in serotoninergic transmission during neurodevelopment may have negative effects on both the structure and function of the resultant adult brain. Therefore, the effect of a single exposure to an SSRI or a tricyclic antidepressant that preferentially inhibits serotonin reuptake during the pre-weaning period was examined in adult mice. An oral infusion of paroxetine (70 mg/kg), fluvoxamine (250 mg/kg), clomipramine (180 mg/kg), or saline was administered on postnatal day 14. Starting at 11 weeks of age, mice were assessed using a comprehensive behavioral test battery. Mice treated with paroxetine demonstrated altered behavior on the open field and hole-board tasks;those treated with fluvoxamine had behavioral changes on the light-dark box, hole-board, and sucrose preference tasks, while alteration in forced swimming and cued fear behavior were noted in mice treated with clomipramine. These results suggest that even a single administration of an antidepressant could have profound effects on behavior in adulthood, although the effects might differ dependent on the specific drug that was administered.

In the present study,we investigate the expression profile of the epidermal growth factor receptor family,which comprises EGFR/ ErbBl,HER2/ErbB2,HER3/ErbB3 and HER4/ErbB4 in oral leukoplakia(LP).The expression of four epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family genes and their ligands were measured in LP tissues from 14 patients and compared with levels in 10 patients with oral lichen planus(OLP) and normal oral mucosa(NOM) from 14 healthy donors by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and *** mRNA coexpression of ErbBl,ErbB2,ErbB3and ErbB4 was detected in LP *** of the receptors,only ErbB4 mRNA and protein was more highly expressed in LP compared with NOM *** were strongly expressed by epithelial keratinocytes in LP lesions,as shown by *** the ligands,the mRNA of Neuregulin2 and 4 were more highly expressed in OLP compared with NOM ***,enhanced ErbB4 on the keratinocytes and synchronous modulation of EGFR family genes may contribute to the pathogenesis and carcinogenesis of LP.

Increased tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 expression in human colorectal adenomas

AIM: To determine the expression statuses of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, its receptors (TNF-R) and downstream effector molecules in human colorectal adenomas. METHODS: We measured the serum concentrations of TNF-α and its receptors in 62 colorectal adenoma patients and 34 healthy controls. The protein expression of TNF-α, TNF-R1, TNF-R2 and downstream signals of the TNF receptors, such as c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), nuclear factor-κ B and caspase-3, were also investigated in human colorectal adenomas and in normal colorectal mucosal tissues by immunohistochemistry. Immunofluorescence confocal microscopy was used to investigate the consistency of expression of TNF-R1 and phospho-JNK (p-JNK). RESULTS: The serum levels of soluble TNF-R1 (sTNF-R1) in adenoma patients were significantly higher than in the control group (3.67 ± 0.86 ng/mL vs 1.57 ± 0.72 ng/mL, P < 0.001). Receiver operating characteristic analysis revealed the high diagnostic sensitivity of TNF-R1 measurements (AUC was 0.928) for the diagnosis of adenoma, and the best cut-off level of TNF-R1 was 2.08 ng/mL, with a sensitivity of 93.4% and a specificity of 82.4%. There were no significant differences in the serum levels of TNF-α or sTNF-R2 between the two groups. Immunohistochemistry showed high levels of TNF-R1 and p-JNK expression in the epithelial cells of adenomas. Furthermore, a high incidence of co-localization of TNF-R1 and p-JNK was identified in adenoma tissue. CONCLUSION: TNF-R1 may be a promising biomarker of colorectal adenoma, and it may also play an important role in the very early stages of colorectal carcinogenesis.

AIM: To evaluate the effectuality and safety of cataract surgery combined with either ab interno trabeculotomy by the microhook(μLOT) or a single i Stent? trabecular bypass implantation(i Stent) in eyes with cataract and mild-tomoderate glaucoma. METHODS: This study enrolled subjects with mild-tomoderate open angle glaucoma with visually significant cataract who used two or more ophthalmic antiglaucoma agents between 60 and 90 y of age. Patients underwent cataract surgery cooperated with either implantation of an i Stent(i Stent-phaco) or excisional goniotomy with the μLOT(μLOT-phaco). Patients underwent μLOT-phaco in the eye with lower the mean deviation, according to the Humphrey field analyzer, while i Stent-phaco was carried out on the other eye. Intraocular pressure(IOP) pre-and post-surgery, alterations in anterior chamber flare(ACF), and corneal endothelial cell density(ECD) were ***: Twenty subjects were enrolled(mean age: 73.6±7.3 y). The mean medicated preoperative IOP was 16.7 mm Hg in the μLOT and 16.2 mm Hg in the i Stent eyes. The mean final IOP at 12 mo was 13.6 mm Hg in the μLOT eyes and 13.6 mm Hg in the i Stent eyes, representing a 17.8% and 17.2% reduction, respectively. The preoperative ACF in the μLOT eyes was 9.5 pc/ms and it returned to normal in 30 d postoperatively, with a value of 11.4 pc/ms. In the i Stent eyes, ACF was 9.6 pc/ms preoperatively and it returned to normal by 7 d postoperatively(11.2 pc/ms atday 7), demonstrating that postoperative inflammation was less in the i Stent eyes. The corneal ECD in both groups was not significantly ***: In this study, i Stent and μLOT are both effective through 12 mo of follow-up. Safety is more favorable in the i Stent eyes, based on early anterior chamber inflammation.

We aim to investigate the effect of transforming growth factor （TGF）-β1 on the expression of enhancer of split- and hairy-related protein-2 （SHARP-2） messenger RNA （mRNA） and its signaling pathway. In this study, several cell lines including LLC-PK1 （a porcine kidney tubular epithelial cell line）, MDCK （Madin-Darby canine kidney） and CTLL-2 （cytotoxic T-lymphocyte line） were treated with recombinant human TGF-131, and a series of experiments were carried out, involving Northern blot analysis of total RNA from these cells. Further, several specific chemical inhibitors were applied before TGF-β1 treatment to probe the signaling pathway. The results showed that TGF-β1 can significadtly up-regulate SHARP-2 mRNA expression in the LLC-PK1 cell line. The peak level of induction was found 2 h after TGF-β1 stimulation. While one phospho- inositide 3-kinases （PI-3） kinase inhibitor, LY294002, completely blocked the effect of TGF-131 on SHARP-2 mRNA expression in LLC-PK1 cells at a low concentration, other inhibitors, including PD98059, staurosporine, AG490, wortmannin, okadaic acid and rapamycin, had no effect. The effect of LY294002 was dose-dependent. We conclude that, in LLC-PK1 cells at least, TGF-β1 can effectively induce the SHARP-2 mRNA expression and that the PI-3 kinase pathway can mediate this effect.
