In this paper,the blade is assumed to be a rotating variable thickness cantilever twisted plate structure,and the natural vibrations of variable thickness cantilever twisted plate made of metal porous material are studied.It is assumed that the thickness of the plate changes along spanwise direction and chordwise direction,respectively,and it changes in both directions.The classical thin shell theory,the first and second fundamental forms of surface and von Karman geometric relationship are employed to derive the total potential energy and kinetic energy of the cantilever twisted plate,in which the centrifugal force potential due to high rotational speed is included.Then,according to the Rayleigh-Ritz procedure and applying the polynomial functions which satisfy the cantilever boundary conditions,the dynamic system expressed by equations of motion is reduced to an eigenvalue problem.By numerical simulation,the frequency curves and the mode shapes of the twisted plate can be obtained to reveal the internal connection between natural vibration and the parameters.A series of comparison studies are performed to verify the accuracy of the present formulation and calculations,in which compared data come from experimental,finite element method and theoretical calculation,respectively.The influence of pre-twist angle,three different forms of thickness taper ratio and rotational speed on natural vibration,mode exchange and frequency veering phenomenon of the system is discussed in detail.In addition,the approach proposed here can efficiently extract analytical expressions of mode functions for rotating variable thickness cantilever twisted plate structures.

“Age-related neurodegenerative disease”underscores human age as the primary risk factor for disease development:Alzheimer’s,Parkinson’s,and Huntington’s disease(HD)as examples.Reasons for the age-dependent delay in disease manifestation,in particular for autosomal dominant forms of the disease,and the underlying cause(s)of specific neuron dysfunction and death to manifest as memory loss,anxiety,depression,and agitation in disease subjects remain unclear.We are interested in understanding age-related changes in cell environment that can modulate the structure,function,aggregation.

Gas distribution function plays a crucial role in the description of gas flows at the mesoscopic scale.In the presence of non-equilibrium flow,the distribution function loses its rotational symmetricity,making the mathematical derivation difficult.From both the Chapman-Enskog expansion and the Hermite polynomial expansion(Grad’s method),we observe that the non-equilibrium effect is closely related to the peculiar velocity space(C).Based on this recognition,we propose a new methodology to construct the non-equilibrium distribution function from the perspective of polynomial expansion in the peculiar velocity space of molecules.The coefficients involved in the non-equilibrium distribution function can be exactly determined by the compatibility conditions and the moment relationships.This new framework allows constructing non-equilibrium distribution functions at any order of truncation,and the ones at the third and the fourth order have been presented in this paper for illustration purposes.Numerical validations demonstrate that the new method is more accurate than the Grad’s method at the same truncation error for describing non-equilibrium effects.Two-dimensional benchmark tests are performed to shed light on the applicability of the new method to practical engineering problems.

Thermo-kinetic characteristics on stabilizing hetero-phase interface of metal matrix composites by crystal plasticity finite element method

Using dislocation-based constitutive modeling in three-dimension crystal plasticity finite element(3D CPFE)simulations,co-deformation and instability of hetero-phase interface in different material systems were herein studied for polycrystalline metal matrix composites(MMCs).Local stress and strain fields in two types of 3layer MMCs such as fcc/fcc Cu-Ag and fcc/bcc Cu-Nb have been predicted under simple compressive deformations.Accordingly,more severe strain-induced interface instability can be observed in the fcc/bcc systems than in the fcc/fcc systems upon refining to metallic nanolayered composites(MNCs).By detailed analysis of stress and strain localization,it has been demonstrated that the interface instability is always accompanied by high-stress concentration,i.e.,thermodynamic characteristics,or high strain prevention i.e.,kinetic characteristics,at the hetero-phase interface.It then follows that the thermodynamic driving forceG and the kinetic energy barrier Q during dislocation and shear banding can be adopted to classify the deformation modes,following the so-called thermo-kinetic correlation.Then by inserting a high density of high-energy interfaces into the Cu-Nb composites,such thermo-kinetic integration at the hetero-phase interface allows a successful establishment of MMCs with the high△G-high Q deformation mode,which ensures high hardening and uniform strain distri-bution,thus efficiently suppressing the shear band,stabilizing the hetero-phase interface,and obtaining an exceptional combination in strength and ductility.Such hetero-phase interface chosen by a couple of thermodynamics and kinetics can be defined as breaking the thermo-kinetic correlation and has been proposed for artificially designing MNCs.

The insensitivity of semiconductors to visible and infrared light is a key constraint on the utilization of light energy in photocatalytic reactions.Constructing photocatalysts with full-spectrum absorption through surface engineering is an effective approach to fully harnessing light energy in semiconductor materials.Herein,a novel stable Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene/CdS heterojunction catalyst is obtained by in-situ epitaxial growth of two-dimensional(2D)CdS nanosheets on 2D MXene interface via a solvothermal method.The exceptional light absorption properties of MXene confer outstanding full-spectrum driven photocat-alytic hydrogen evolution capability upon the heterogeneous catalyst.The unique 2D/2D structure effectively mitigated the recombination of photogenerated carriers,enhancing the photocatalytic performance of the catalyst.Moreover,the composite catalyst exhibits a significantly higher surface temperature of 80.4℃under visible light irradiation at an intensity of 0.1 W/cm^(2),which is 1.84 times higher than that of CdS.Under irradiation of visible and near infrared light,the composite catalyst with photothermal ef-fect demonstrates a remarkable hydrogen evolution rate of 65.4 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1),which is 7.2 times higher than that of CdS catalyst.This study introduces a novel approach for constructing full-spectrum absorption catalysts and expands the application of the photothermal effect in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution research.

Multi-population particle swarm optimization algorithm for automatic design of steel frames

Steel structures are widely used;however,their traditional design method is a trial-and-error procedure which is neither efficient nor cost effective.Therefore,a multi-population particle swarm optimization(MPPSO)algorithm is developed to optimize the weight of steel frames according to standard design codes.Modifications are made to improve the algorithm performances including the constraint-based strategy,piecewise mean learning strategy and multi-population cooperative strategy.The proposed method is tested against the representative frame taken from American standards and against other steel frames matching Chinese design codes.The related parameter influences on optimization results are discussed.For the representative frame,MPPSO can achieve greater efficiency through reduction of the number of analyses by more than 65% and can obtain frame with the weight for at least 2.4%lighter.A similar trend can also be observed in cases subjected to Chinese design codes.In addition,a migration interval of 1 and the number of populations as 5 are recommended to obtain better MPPSO results.The purpose of the study is to propose a method with high efficiency and robustness that is not confined to structural scales and design codes.It aims to provide a reference for automatic structural optimization design problems even with dimensional complexity.The proposed method can be easily generalized to the optimization problem of other structural systems.

The metal cutting process is accompanied by complex stress field,strain field,temperature field.The comprehensive effects of process parameters on chip morphology,cutting force,tool wear and residual stress are complex and inter-connected.Finite element method(FEM)is considered as an effective method to predict process variables and reveal microscopic physical phenomena in the cutting process.Therefore,the finite element(FE)simulation is used to research the conventional and micro scale cutting process,and the differences in the establishment of process variable FE simulation models are distinguished,thereby improving the accuracy of FE simulation.The reliability and effectiveness of FE simulation model largely depend on the accuracy of the simulation method,constitutive model,friction model,damage model in describing mesh element,the dynamic mechanical behavior of materials,the tool-chip-workpiece contact process and the chip formation mechanism.In this paper,the FE models of conventional and micro process variables are comprehensively and up-to-date reviewed for different materials and machining methods.The purpose is to establish a FE model that is more in line with the real cutting conditions,and to provide the possibility for optimizing the cutting process variables.The development direction of FE simulation of metal cutting process is discussed,which provides guidance for future cutting process modeling.

A new type of symmetry,ren-symmetry,describing anyon physics and corresponding topological physics,is proposed.Ren-symmetry is a generalization of super-symmetry which is widely applied in super-symmetric physics such as super-symmetric quantum mechanics,super-symmetric gravity,super-symmetric string theory,super-symmetric integrable systems and so on.Supersymmetry and Grassmann numbers are,in some sense,dual conceptions,and it turns out that these conceptions coincide for the ren situation,that is,a similar conception of ren-number(R-number)is devised for ren-symmetry.In particular,some basic results of the R-number and ren-symmetry are exposed which allow one to derive,in principle,some new types of integrable systems including ren-integrable models and ren-symmetric integrable systems.Training examples of ren-integrable KdV-type systems and ren-symmetric KdV equations are explicitly given.

Progress in the studies of chirality in atomic nuclei at iThemba LABS is reviewed.New regions of chirality,around mass 80 and 190 have been discovered using the AFRODITE array,specifically in the nuclei^(74)As,^(78,80,82)Br,^(81)Kr,and^(193,194,198)Tl.Many phenomena have been observed,including multiple chiral bands in the same nucleus,the coexistence of octupole correlations and nuclear chirality,and the coexistence of pseudo spin and nuclear chirality.The best example of chiral degeneracy to date was found in ^(194)Tl.The level scheme of ^(106)Ag has been revisited and interpreted in terms of two-and four-quasiparticle bands.Investigations using the particle-rotor model have shown that the fingerprints of chirality in the two-quasiparticle system only can occur in an idealised model description.For systems with a higher number of quasiparticles,the calculations showed that nuclear chirality can persist.
