Simultaneous enhancement of mechanical and shape memory properties by heat-treatment homogenization of Ti_(2)Ni precipitates in TiNi shape memory a.l.y fabricated by selective laser melting

The excellent shape memory and mechanical properties of Ti Ni shape memory a.l.ys(SMAs) fabricated using selective laser melting(SlM) are highly desira.l. for a wide range of critical applications. In this study, we examined the simultaneous enhancement of mechanical and shape memory properties using heat-treatment homogenization of Ti_(2)Ni precipitates in a Ti_(50.6)Ni_(49.4)SMA fabricated using SlM. Specifica.l., because of the complete solution treatment, nanoscale spherical Ti_(2)Ni precipitates were homogeneously dispersed throughout the grain interior. Interestingly, the resultant SMA exhibited an ultrahigh tensile strength of 880 ± 13 MPa, a.l.rge elongation of 22.4 ± 0.4%, and an excellent shape memory effect, with a recovery rate of > 98% and ultrahigh recovera.l. strain of 5.32% after ten loading–unloading cycles. These simultaneously enhanced properties are considera.l. superior than those of most previously reported Ti Ni SMAs fabricated using additive manufacturing. Fundamenta.l., the enhancement in tensile strength is ascribed to precipitation strengthening and work hardening, and the large plasticity is mainly attributed to the homogeneous nanoscale globular Ti_(2)Ni precipitates, which effectively impeded the rapid propagation of microcracks. Furthermore, the enhanced shape memory properties are derived from the suppression of dislocation movement and formation of retained stabilized martensite by the presence of high-density dislocations, nanoscale Ti_(2)Ni precipitates, and abundant interfaces. The obtained results provide insight into the enhancement of the two types of properties in Ti Ni SMAs and will accelerate the wider application of SMAs.

liBH_(4) containing 18.5 wt.%H_(2) is an attractive high-capacity hydrogen storage material,however,it suffers from high operation temperature and poor ***,a novel and low-cost bifunctional additive,waxberry-like Fe_(3)O_(4) secondary nanospheres assembled from ultrafine primary Fe_(3)O_(4) nanoparticles,is synthesized,which exhibits significant destabilization and bidirectional catalyzation towards(de)hydrogenation of liBH_(4).With an optimized addition of 30 wt.% waxberry-like Fe_(3)O_(4),the system initiated dehydrogenation below 100℃ and released a total of 8.1 wt.%H_(2) to 400℃.After 10 cycles,a capacity retention of 70% was achieved,grea.l. superior to previously reported oxides-modified *** destabilizing and catalyzing mechanisms of waxberry-like Fe_(3)O_(4) on liBH_(4) were systematica.l. analyzed by phase and microstructural evolutions during dehydrogenation and hydrogenation cycling as well as density functional theory(DFT)*** present work provides new insights in developing advanced nano-additives with unique structural and multifunctional designs towards liBH4 hydrogen storage.

Research status of high strength low a.l.y TRIP (transformation induced plasticity) steels for automobile structural parts is briefly described. Composition and microstruc-ture factors especia.l. the morphology, size and volume fraction of retained austenite, which largely influence the strength and ductility of the steel, are reviewed and discussed one after another. Modelling of the inter-critical annealing and martempering processes as well as the designing of the TRIP steel aided by commercial software are introduced. Some special aspects of the dynamic mechanical properties of TRIP steel are firstly reported.

In this paper we study the computational performance of variants of an algebraic additive Schwarz preconditioner for the Schur complement for the solution of large sparse linear *** ea.l.er works,the local Schur complements were computed exactly using a sparse direct *** robustness of the preconditioner comes at the price of this memory and time intensive computation that is the main bottleneck of the approach for tackling huge *** this work we investigate the use of sparse approximation of the dense local Schur *** approximations are computed using a partial incomplete lU *** a numerical calculation is the core of the multi-level incomplete factorization such as the one implemented in pARMS. The numerical and computing performance of the new numerical scheme is illustrated on a set of large 3D convection-diffusion problems;preliminary experiments on linear systems arising from structural mechanics are also reported.

Nanocrysta.l.ne supersaturated solid solutions (Sa in Fe) with Sn content less than 50 at. %,and FeSn2 and Fe1.3Sn intermeta.l.c compounds have been prepared by mechanical a.l.ying of Fe and Sn mixture powders with composition of Fe1-xSnx (x≤0.5).The atomic a.l.ying the formation and microstructure, especia.l. the coordination environments, of the resultant a.l.ys have been studied by X-ray diffraction, 57Fe and 119Sn Mossbauer Spectroscopy and diffrrential scanning calorimetry. The Fe and Sn coordination environments and the composition dependence of the hyperfine parameters on the Fe and Sn content have been fully discussed with respect to the solid dissolution a.l.ying, grain refinement, and distortion caused or induced by mechanical a.l.ying.

Isolation of intact bacteria from blood by selective cell lysis in a microfluidic porous silica monolith

Rapid and efficient isolation of bacteria from complex biological matrices is necessary for effective pathogen identification in emerging single-cell ***,we demonstrate the isolation of intact and via.l. bacteria from whole blood through the selective lysis of blood cells during flow through a porous silica *** mechanical hemolysis is achieved while providing passage of intact and via.l. bacteria through the monoliths,a.l.wing size-based isolation of bacteria to be performed following selective lysis.A process for synthesizing large quantities of discrete capillary-bound monolith elements and millimeter-scale monolith bricks is described,together with the sea.l.ss integration of individual monoliths into microfluidic *** impact of monolith morphology,geometry,and flow conditions on cell lysis is explored,and flow regimes are identified wherein robust selective blood cell lysis and intact bacteria passage are achieved for multiple gram-negative and gram-positive *** technique is shown to ena.l. rapid sample preparation and bacteria analysis by single-cell Raman *** selective lysis technique presents a unique sample preparation step supporting rapid and culture-free analysis of bacteria for the point of care.

COMPARISON ON REFINEMENT OF IRON POWDER By Ba.l.MIllING ASSISTED By DIFFERENT EXTERNAl FIElDS

The cryogenic milling and milling in conjunction with dielectric barrier discharge plasma (DBDP) have been separately set up. The combined effect of low temperature and plasma on ba.l.milling has been investigated by examining the refinement of particle size and grain size of iron powder using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and sma.l.angle X-ray scattering. It was found that the mean size of iron particles could reach 104nm only after 10 hours of ba.l.milling in conjunction with DBDP, whereas a minimum average grain size of 8.4nm was obtained by cryomilling at -20℃; however, it is difficult to refine the particle size and grain size under the same milling condition in the absence of DBDP and cryogenic temperature.

THERMODyNAMICS STUDy ON THE DECOMPOSITION OF CHROMITE WITH KOH

Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, has proposed a method for oxidative leaching of chromite with potassium hydroxide. Understanding the mechanism of chromite decomposition, especia.l. in the potassium hydroxide fusion, is important for the optimization of the operating parameters of the oxidative leaching process. A traditional thermodynamic method is proposed and the thermal decomposition and the reaction decomposition during the oxidative leaching of chromite with KOH and oxygen is discussed, which suggests that chromite is mainly destroyed by reactions with KOH and oxygen. Meanwhile, equilibrium of the main reactions of the above process was calculated at different temperatures and oxygen partial pressures. The sta.l. zones of productions, namely, K2CrO4 and Fe2O3, increase with the decrease of temperature, which indicates that higher temperature is not beneficial to thermodynamic reactions. In addition, a comparison of the general alkali methods is carried out, and it is concluded that the KOH leaching process is thermodynamica.l. superior to the conventional chromate production process.
