There is growing evidence of the high transmission potential of COVID-19 through virus-laden *** aerosols are inhaled in various concentrations,an overall assessment of transmission risks at different indoor scales is ***,a comprehensive risk assessment method that evaluates the direct link between short-range and room-scale zones is stl *** this paper,a risk assessment model combining both short-range and room-scale effects is developed to obtain effective reproduction number in confined indoor environments,called Turbulent Jet Wells Riley(TJWR)*** with the viral load data and aerosol generation data of different human respiratory activities,the Monte Carlo simulation method is applied to calculate the quanta emission rate,which further provides the input parameters of the TJWR *** known outbreaks(Hangzhou banquet hall X,Guangzhou restaurant y,and Hong Kong restaurant Z,China)are chosen to validate the TJWR *** show that the TJWR model is more efficient than the original Wells-Riley *** average relative error of the TJWR model ranges between 9%and 44%,while for the Wells-Riley model,it ranges between 57%and 78%.The TJWR model also proves that infection risk assessments using the well-mixed assumption can systematically underestimate the transmission risk for those close to the ***,there is a significant positive linear correlation between the total number of exposed individuals at the short-range and the effective reproduction *** newly developed TJWR model has great potential for rapid and real-time overall airborne transmission risk assessment in buildings and cities.

We examined the global biogeography of the Scytodes thoracica group of spitting spiders based on 23 years of sampling at the species level(61 species in the thoracica group and 84 species of Scytodes)using DNA data from six *** results indicated that the thoracica group initially dispersed from Southeast Asia to East Africa between 46.5 and 33.0 million years ago,and dispersal events intensified between Southeast/South Asia and East/South Africa from the early to late *** timing of these events indicates that Asian-African faunal exchange of the thoracica group was driven by the Indian monsoon,and the pattern of dispersal suggests that colonialization took root when the Indian monsoon shifted from a North-South direction to an East-West direction from the middle Eocene.

Independent manipulation of transmitted and reflected light fields is a key technology for the realization of multifunctional optical applications,which can be implemented based on multilayered plasmonic or supercell subwavelength ***,the former is not suitable for the optical bands,while the latter is insufficient in generating large phase ***,an adjoint-optimization-based inverse design methodology is proposed,which utilizes the polarization-selective local interference between individual meta-atoms and enables monolayer dielectric metasurfaces to decouple the wavefront of transmitted and reflected optical ***,this methodology serves to mitigate the aperiodic electromagnetic crosstalk inherent between adjacent meta-atoms,consequently leading to a significant enhancement in the performance of *** analyzed the physical mechanism of adjoint optimization and proposed the concept of phase factors,highlighting their importance in the rapid inverse design of meta-devices—an aspect often overlooked in previous *** demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of our method,we optimize monolayer metasurfaces with different initial *** devices efficiently focus and deflect x-linearly and y-linearly polarized incident light in transmission and reflection spaces,***,this methodology holds immense potential for designing multifunctional,high-performing metasurfaces that meet multiple constraints,opening up broad prospects for applications.

When estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of wideband signals from multiple sources, the performance of sparse Bayesian methods is influenced by the frequency bands occupied by signals in different directions. This is particularly true when multiple signal frequency bands overlap. Message passing algorithms (MPA) with Dirichlet process (DP) prior can be employed in a sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) framework with high precision. However, existing methods suffer from either high complexity or low precision. To address this, we propose a low-complexity DOA estimation algorithm based on a factor graph. This approach introduces two strong constraints via a stretching transformation of the factor graph. The first constraint separates the observation from the DP prior, enabling the application of the unitary approximate message passing (UAMP) algorithm for simplified inference and mitigation of divergence issues. The second constraint compensates for the deviation in estimation angle caused by the grid mismatch problem. Compared to state-of-the-art algorithms, our proposed method offers higher estimation accuracy and lower complexity.

Increasing operational stability of journal bearing in hydraulic suspension micro-pump by herringbone grooved structure

The operational stability of radial journal bearings is the bottleneck that limits the reliability of hydraulic suspension micropump. Due to self-excited vibrations, the whirl amplitude of the plain journal bearing(PJB) is large at high rotational speeds,which will accelerate wear failure. It has been proven that employing herringbone grooved journal bearing(HGJB) is an effective method to reduce the whirl amplitude and improve operational stability. However, enhancing the stability of journal bearings in micro-pumps by herringbone grooved structures has rarely been studied, and its effect needs to be verified. We validated the mechanism of the stability improvement with the CFD method and compared the dynamic characteristics of HGJB and PJB by rotor dynamics evaluation and experiment. The experimental results show that under the same conditions the whirl amplitude of the HGJB decreases by 29.61% in the x direction and by 24.09% in the y direction compared with that of the PJB. This study reveals the effect of the herringbone grooved structure on the operational stability of bearings and may provide guidance for the reliability improvement of hydraulic suspension micro-pump.

Recently, a bulk nickelate superconductor La3Ni2O7is discovered at pressures with a remarkable high transition temperature Tc～ 80 K. Here, we study a Hubbard model with tight-binding parameters derived from ab initio calculations of La3Ni2O7,by employing large scale determinant quantum Monte Carlo and cellular dynamical mean-field theory. Our result suggests that the superexchange couplings in this system are comparable to that of cuprates. The system is a charge transfer insulator as the hole concentration becomes four per site at large Hubbard U. Upon hole doping, two low-energy spin-singlet bands emerge in the system exhibiting distinct correlation properties: while the one composed of the out-of-plane Ni-d3z2-r2and O-pzorbitals demonstrates strong antiferromagnetic correlations and narrow effective bandwidth, the in-plane singlet band consisting of the Ni-dx2-y2and O-px/pyorbitals is in general more itinerant. Over a broad range of hole doping, the doped holes occupy primarily the dx2-y2and px/pyorbitals, whereas the d3z2-r2and pzorbitals retain underdoped. We propose an effective t-J model to capture the relevant physics and discuss the implications of our result for comprehending the La3Ni2O7superconductivity.
