Cerium tartrate（CeTar）,produced in this study by precipitating cerium nitrate with potassium sodium tartrate（kNaTar）,was examined as a corrosion *** loss tests show inhibition efficiency of 71.7% with Ce（NO3）3and 88.7% with CeTar inhibitor for one-month exposure to mild steel in 7 g/l NaCl *** inhibition efficiency drops to 28.6% with the fo rmer and remains around 8 7% with the latter inhibitor after six months of *** results from electrochemical testing indicate that the inhibition efficiency decreases by adding cerium ***,the cerium tartrate inhibitor demonstrates a nearly constant inhibition efficiency for up to 30 d,i.e.,≈90%.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIs） performed in these cases shows the following results:（ⅰ） with cerium nitrate,a film of iron and cerium oxide,which on prolonged exposure diminishes,and（ⅱ） with cerium tartrate,the formation of a bimetallic film（Fe-tartrate-Ce） and a mixture of cerium hydroxide and iro n oxide that protects steel for a longer *** inferences are based on the analyses of scanning electron microscopy/energydispersive X-ray analysis（sEM/EDAX）,X-ray diffraction（XrD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIr）,X-ray photoelectron（XPs）,and raman spectroscopy results.

Experimentally measured neutron activation cross sections are presented for the ^(65)Cu(n,0)^(62m)Cu,^(41) k(n,a)^(38C)l,and ^(65)Cu(n.2n)^(64)Cu reactions with detailed uncertainty *** neutron cross secions were measured at an incident energy of 14.92±0.02 MeV,and the neutrons were based on the(d,n)a fusion *** ^(27) Al(n,a)^(24)Na reaction was used as a reference reaction for the normalization of the neutron *** pre-calib-rated lead-shielded HPGe detector was used to detect the residues'γ-ray *** data from the measured cross sections are compared to the previously measured cross sections from the EXFOr database,theoretically calculated cross sections using the TAlys and EMPIrE codes,and evaluated nuclear data.

To elucidate the potential and sensitivity of cirradiation in Pongamia pinnata,the present study has been done by irradiating the air-dried seeds to differentγ-irradiation doses(100 Gy,200 Gy,400 Gy and 600 Gy),using 60Co *** increase(p≤0.05)in the germination,growth,and vigor was recorded under the100 Gy treatment than the control *** chlorophylla and total chlorophyll content(mgg-1 FW)in the leaves of *** showed a significant decrease under the higher irradiation treatments(200 Gy,400 Gy and 600 Gy).In contrast,chlorophyllb showed a radio-resistance up to 200 Gy dose,and above which its concentration declined significantly(p≤0.05).Photosynthetic rate,stomatal conductance,intercellular CO2 concentration,and transpiration rate were stimulated by 100 Gy irradiation treatment and the higher doses inhibited these *** activity in the leaves of *** tended to increase after irradiation in a dose-dependent *** the plants under different treatments ofγ-irradiation showed stimulation in production of proline,flavonoid,and phenolic content in comparision to the *** findings of the present study showed thatγ-irradiation treatment stimulates the secondary metabolite production(proline,flavonoid and phenolic)and favours faster growth of ***.

soil microbes play critical roles in soil biogeochemistry, soil biological health and crop productivity. The current study evaluated the effects of tillage and residue management on changes in soil biochemical indicators at different growth stages of wheat after 5 years of rice-wheat system. Nine treatment combinations of tillage, crop establishment and crop residue management included three main plot treatments applied to rice:(1) conventional till direct dry seeded rice(CTDsr),(2) zero till direct dry seeded rice(ZTDsr), and(3) conventional puddled manual transplanted rice(CTPTr) and three subplot treatments in subsequent wheat:(1) conventional tillage with rice residue removed(CTW-r),(2) zero tillage with rice residue removed(ZTW-r) and(3) zero tillage with rice residue retained as surface mulch(ZTW+r). Irrespective of rice treatments, ZTW+r treatment had higher soil biochemical indicators compared with ZTW-r and CTW-r at all the growth stages of wheat. Generally, all the biochemical indicators were the highest at the flowering stage of wheat. residual effect of rice treatments was also significant on biochemical quotients in wheat, which were the highest under ZTDsr followed by CTDsr and CTPTr. The present study provided three sensitive and reliable biochemical indicators(microbial biomass, basal soil respiration and microbial quotient) which respond rapidly to change in tillage and residue management practices in rWs of south Asia.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the large Hadron Collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATlAs Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATlAs *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Protective effect of Ocimum sanctum linn. leaf extract on ethanol withdrawal syndrome in Wistar rats

Objective: To evaluate the effects of Oscimum sanctum l(O. sanctum), an important medicinal herb, on alcohol withdrawal syndrome in Wistar rats. Methods: liquid diet with 7.2%, v/v ethanol was administered to the rats for 21 d. Control group animals received sucrose as an isocaloric liquid diet. After alcohol withdrawal, rats were examined at 6 th and 24 th hour for major withdrawal signs that included anxiety and hyper locomotor activity. Ethanol withdrawal anxiety was tested using elevated plus maze, light and dark model; the hyper locomotor activity using actophotometer. O. sanctum leaf extract(100, 200 and 300 mg/kg, oral) and diazepam(2 mg/kg, i.p) were administered to the treatment group animals 30 min before alcohol withdrawal estimation. Drug treatment was also given 30 min before the second observation at 24 th hour. On the last day of the protocol, rats were sacrificed by cervical dislocation liver, kidney and brain were isolated and preserved in formalin for further histopathological examination. results: Findings from the present study revealed that O. sanctum leaf extract treatment at doses 100, 200 and 300 mg/kg, oral had a significant protective effect on signs and symptoms of ethanol withdrawal in alcohol-dependent rats. However, no remarkable pathological and microscopic alterations were observed in histopathological examination. Conclusions: O. sanctum seems to be an active drug for the treatment of alcohol abstinence syndrome.

The heavy metals present in the environment accumulate in the plants and affect their productivity and *** entering the food chain,metals cause several serious health problems in human beings as well as in other *** acetic acid(IAA)is known to act as a signaling molecule between symbiotic association of metal accumulating plants and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPr).Present study demonstrated a protective role of IAA against surplus Zinc(Zn)-induced toxicity to Hordeum vulgare *** Zn concentrations suppressed the plant growth,caused a reduction in leaf relative water contents(rWC)and elevated free proline and non-protein thiols(NPT)*** treatment also led to enhanced lipid peroxidation(MDA contents)as well as the activity of ascorbate peroxidase(APX),showing the involvement of antioxidative defense mechanism to reduce Zn induced *** oxidase activity was also observed to increase due to Zn *** pretreatment of *** caryopsis could partly revert the Zn-induced toxicity in seedlings.

rice is sensitive to salinity stress at both the seedling and reproductive *** present study used 145 rice genotypes comprising of 100 landraces and 45 advanced breeding lines collected from different regions of *** genotypes were evaluated in hydroponics under control[electrical conductivity(ECe)~1.2 ds/m]and saline(ECe~10.0 ds/m)environments along with susceptible(Ir29)and tolerant(Fl478)*** stress susceptibility index for eight morphophysiological traits was *** of variance showed significant differences among the genotypes for all the parameters studied in control,stress and relative stress *** identified 3 landraces(kuttimanja,Tulasimog and IET-13713I)as tolerant and 14 lines as moderately tolerant to salt *** correlations in the morphological(root and shoot lengths)and physiological traits(shoot Na^(+),Ca^(2+)and Mg^(2+)contents,and Na^(+)/k^(+)ratio)were observed under all the *** hierarchical cluster analysis grouped the genotypes into five clusters,among which cluster Ⅱ comprised salt-tolerant *** of saltol region using 11 simple sequence repeat markers on 17 saline tolerant and moderately tolerant lines was *** AP3206F,rM10793 and rM3412b,located close to skC1 gene(11.23‒12.55 Mb),displayed diverse allelic variations and they were not related to the Fl478 *** this region,tolerant lines like kuttimanja,IET-13713I and Tulasimog have new *** a result,these lines may be suitable candidates for novel genomic regions governing rice salinity ***-tolerance ability of kuttimanja,Tulasimog and IET-13713I was validated in two years in three salinity stress *** promising lines can be used in breeding programs to broaden the genetic base of salinity tolerance in rice,and it may help to dissect key genomic regions responsible for salinity tolerance.
