MnO_(2)-coated nanodiamond-driven photodynamic therapy for enhanced antitumor effect by addressing hypoxia and glutathione depletion

The generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)at the tumor site to induce destruction is emerging as a novel strategy for cancer treatment,which involves photodynamic therapy(PDT).Nevertheless,tumors typically create a hypoxic environment and are equipped with an endogenous antioxidant defense system that could potentially impede the efficiency of the therapeutic *** overcome these drawbacks,herein,a tumor microenvironment-responsive the ND-PAA-CD-Ce6@MnO_(2)(NPCC@M)delivery system was fabricated by disulfide bond coupling chlorin e6(Ce6)to nanodiamond(ND)and further wrapped by MnO_(2)nanosheets to facilitate *** use of disulfide bond not only stabilizes Ce6 in the blood circulation to prevent premature leakage,but also destroys the antioxidant barrier of overexpressed glutathione(GSH)in tumor ***,the outer MnO_(2)was rapidly degraded by the endogenous hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))in the acidic pH and GSH within the tumor cells,which leads to an abundance of O_(2)and while increases the level of 1O_(2)under laser *** results eventually broke the redox homeostasis and attenuate hypoxia,thereby inducing apoptosis and necrosis of tumor *** in vitro and in vivo biological effect has revealed a good biosafety profile and a high tumor suppression *** a novel ND-based system with tumor microenvironment-modulating capability to elevate oxygen content and promote GSH consumption in tumor cells opens new opportunities for enhanced ROS treatment paradigms.

SIRT1 inhibits apoptosis of human lens epithelial cells through suppressing endoplasmic reticulum stress in vitro and in vivo

Study on healthcare level and its relationship with medical radiation in China

Objective:To evaluate the health-care level(HCL),one of the most extensively used indicators to assess the level of medical exposure,and its influencing factors in ***:Based on the data from the China Statistical yearbook of the National Bureau of Statistics and other public documents,HCL was calculated in terms of the number of physicians per head of population throughout the *** linear regression was used to analyze the association of HCL with main socioeconomic factors,including population size,area,number of administrative divisions and gross domestic product(GDP).Results:Since 2015,there has been at least one physician for every 1,000 people in China on ***,by 2019,there has yet been one physician for more than 1,000 people in each of two *** 2020,there was at least one physician for every 1,000 people across all 31 provincial-level administrative districts(provinces).The population size and GDP were the influencing factors on HCL,with correlation coefficients of 0.416 and-0.583,***,a moderate correlation was found between HCL and the frequency of medical exposure(FME)to ionizing radiation(r=-0.620,P=0.028).Conclusion:There has been at least one physician for every 1,000 people since 2015,but there are great differ-ences between various *** as an indicator to evaluate level of medical exposure is warranted further research in China.

Jurassic integrative stratigraphy,biotas,and paleogeographical evolution of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas

The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau experienced a unique geological evolution during the Jurassic,driven by the termination of the Palaeotethys and the reduction of the *** Indian Plate separated from the northern margin of Gondwana and drifted northward from the Southern *** that the timing of strata serves as the basis for reconstructing geological history,the present work aimed to develop a new multiple stratigraphic and chronologic framework for the Jurassic strata of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau region via a synthesis of the material on lithostratigraphy,palaeontology,iso-radiometric dating,magnetostratigraphy,and other techniques with an emphasis on recent progress and *** new framework included the Jurassic System from the four major subdivisions of the plateau:the Baryan Har,Qiangtang,Lhasa-Gandise,and Southern Xizang(Himalaya).Ultimately,a more complete,refined biostratigraphic sequence was proposed,comprising the most common fossils in the plateau and those that are stratigraphically significant for the Jurassic stratigraphy,including ammonites,bivalves,brachiopods,foraminifera,radiolarians,and dinoflagellate cysts for the marine strata,and pollen and spores,and charophytes for the terrestrial *** biostratigraphic framework was correlated with the Jurassic international standard zonation of the Geological Time Scale 2020 via standard or representative species or genera of *** on this framework,we constructed a lateral correlation of the Jurassic strata between different basins of the *** palaeontologic correlation in the present work shows that the Lhasa-Gandise Block had a closer relationship with the Qiangtang Block than with the Southern Xizang Himalaya during the Jurassic ***,the Lhasa-Gandise Block and Qiangtang Block shared similar marine fauna features of the north marginal East *** contrasts the opinion suggesting that the yarlung Zangbo Tethys was a small back-arc basin.A c

Promoting electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction to ammonia via dopant boron on two-dimensional materials

Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR) is a key process for producing energy efficient and environment friendly ammonia. Boron-doped two-dimensional materials are highly promising as NRR ***, the interaction between doped boron and matrix materials on NRR catalytic performance is still unclear,which is limiting the development of catalysts containing boron for NRR. Here, NRR on different boron-doped twodimensional(2D) materials was explored by first principle theory. It is found that adsorption energy of intermediate*NNH(E*NNH) can be used as a descriptor to characterize the catalytic activity for NRR. Boron-adsorbed black phosphorus(B-BP) is demonstrated showing excellent NRR catalytic activity and suppressing hydrogen evolution reaction. It is disclosed that the excellent catalytic performance of boron-doped structures comes from a proper quantitatively electron transfer(0.8e) between nitrogen in*NNH and the active site boron atom. This work not only established a descriptor for NRR catalytic activity on B-doped 2D materials, but also screened out a potential NRR catalyst. More importantly, the intrinsic reason and mechanism of high catalytic activity of boron-doped structures were proposed. This work provides a design principle for exploring high-performance NRR electrocatalysts containing boron.

Green carbonization of waste coffee grounds into porous C/Fe hybrids for broadband and high-efficiency microwave absorption

Recently great effort s have been focused on designing high-performance microwave absorbers using sustainable biomass resources,but there remains a lack of green and efficient fabrication ***,inspired by natural porous character of biomass waste,we demonstrated a green one-step route to convert waste coffee grounds into porous C/Fe hybrids,and further explored their potential applications for broadband and high-efficiency microwave *** this design,the WCG-20-750(incorporated 20 wt%Fe(C_(5)H_(7)O_(2))_(3)catalyst and carbonized at 750℃)exhibited porous microstructure with the highest char yield of 55.45 wt%.Furthermore,the as-prepared C/Fe hybrids from WCG-20-750 displayed excellent microwave absorption ***,the minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))reached to-52.86 dB and the widest effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)was 6.40 GHz at the thickness of 3.0 *** work provides an economically viable and environmentally friendly strategy to convert biomass wastes into value-added microwave absorbers,ultimately making contributions to the upcycling of renewable biomass resources and the fostering of sustainable environment.

The BTB/TAZ domain-containing protein CmBT1-mediated CmANR1 ubiquitination negatively regulates root development in chrysanthemum

Roots are fundamental for plants to adapt to variable environmental *** development of a robust root system is orchestrated by numerous genetic determinants and,among them,the MADS-box gene ANR1 has garnered substantial *** research has demonstrated that,in chrysanthemum,CmANR1positively regulates root system ***,the upstream regulators involved in the CmANR1-mediated regulation of root development remain *** this study,we successfully identified bric-a-brac,tramtrack and broad(BTB)and transcription adapter putative zinc finger(TAZ)domain protein CmBT1 as the interacting partner of CmANR1 through a yeasttwo-hybrid(y2H)screening ***,we validated this physical interaction through bimolecular fluorescence complementation and pull-down *** assays revealed that CmBT1 exerted a negative influence on root development in *** both in vitro and in vivo assays,it was evident that CmBT1mediated the ubiquitination of CmANR1 through the ubiquitin/26S proteasome *** ubiquitination subsequently led to the degradation of the CmANR1 protein and a reduction in the transcription of CmANR1-targeted gene CmPIN2,which was crucial for root development in *** analysis suggested that CmBT1 modulated root development,at least in part,by regulating the level of CmANR1 ***,these findings shed new light on the regulatory role of CmBT1 in degrading CmANR1 through ubiquitination,thereby repressing the expression of its targeted gene and inhibiting root development in chrysanthemum.

Efficient intracellular delivery of protein drugs is critical for protein *** combination of protein drugs with chemotherapeutics represents a promising strategy in enhancing anti-cancer ***,co-delivery systems for efficient delivery of these two kinds of drugs are still lacking because of their different ***,we show a well-designed delivery system based on dynamic covalent bond for efficient intracellular co-delivery of ribonuclease A(RNase A)and doxorubicin(DOX).Two polymers,PEG-b-P(Asp-co-AspDA)and PAE-b-P(Asp-co-AspPBA),and two 2-acetylphenylboronic acid(2-APBA)-functionalized drugs,2-APBA-RNase A and 2-APBA-DOX,self-assemble into mixed-shell nanoparticles(RNase A/DOX@MNPs)via dynamic phenylboronic acid(PBA)-catechol bond between PBA and dopamine(DA)*** PBA-catechol bond endows the nanoparticles with high stability and excellent stimulus-responsive drug release *** the slight acidic environment at tumor tissue,RNase A/DOX@MNPs are positively charged,promoting their *** cellular uptake into endosome,further protonation of PAE chains leads to the rupture of endosomes because of the proton sponge effect and the cleavage of PBA-catechol bond promotes the release of two *** cytoplasm,the high level of GSH removed the modification of 2-APBA on *** restored RNase A and DOX show a synergistic and enhanced antic-cancer *** system may be a promising platform for intracellular co-delivery of protein drugs and chemotherapeutics.

Changes of the peripapillary vascular parameters inpremature infants without retinopathy of prematurityusing U-net segmentation

AIM:To quantitatively assess the changes in mean vascular tortuosity(mVT)and mean vascular width(mVW)around the optic disc and their correlation with gestational age(GA)and birth weight(BW)in premature infants without retinopathy of prematurity(ROP).METHODS:A single-center retrospective study included a total of 133(133 eyes)premature infants[mean corrected gestational age(CGA)43.6wk]without ROP as the premature group and 130(130 eyes)CGA-matched fullterm infants as the control *** peripapillary mVT and mVW were quantitatively measured using computerassisted ***:Premature infants had significantly higher mVT(P=0.0032)and lower mVW(P=0.0086)by 2.68(10^(4) cm^(-3))and 1.85μm,*** analysis with GA showed significant differences(P=0.0244)in mVT between the early preterm and middle to late preterm groups,but the differences between mVW were not significant(P=0.6652).The results of the multiple linear regression model showed a significant negative correlation between GA and BW with mVT after adjusting sex and CGA(P=0.0211 and P=0.0006,respectively).For each day increase in GA at birth,mVT decreased by 0.1281(10^(4) cm^(-3))and for each 1 g increase in BW,mVT decreased by 0.006(10^(4) cm^(-3)).However,GA(P=0.9402)and BW(P=0.7275)were not significantly correlated with ***:Preterm birth significantly affects the peripapillary vascular parameters that indicate higher mVT and narrower mVW in premature infants without *** in these parameters may provide new insights into the pathogenesis of ocular vascular disease.
