Terrestrial vegetation is a crucial component of the Earth system,and its changes not only represent one of the most distinct aspects of climate change but also exert significant feedback within the climate system by exchanging energy,moisture,and carbon *** quantitatively and mechanistically study climate-vegetation feedback,numerical vegetation models have been developed on the theory of ecophysiological constraints on plant functional *** models eventually can simulate vegetation distribution and succession across different spatial and temporal scales,and associated terrestrial carbon cycle processes by categorizing vegetation into biomes according different plant functional types and their associated environmental *** we review the developing history of vegetation models and provide recent advances and future *** 21st century,static vegetation models,as developed statistical models,can only simulate equilibrated characteristics of vegetation *** last several decades,Dynamic global Vegetation Models(DgVMs)have been developed to simulate instantaneous responses of vegetation to climate change and associated dynamics,and can be coupled with Earth system models to investigate interactions among atmosphere,ocean,and *** are also widely applied to investigate the dynamics accounting for changes in the geographic distribution patterns of land surface vegetation at different spatial and temporal scales and to assess the impacts of terrestrial carbon and water fluxes and land use *** suggest that future vegetation modeling could integrate with machine learning,and explore vegetation transient response and feedback as well as impacts of process hierarchies and human activities on climate and ecosystem.

Extensive carbon cycle between peatland and vegetation: Insights from high net primary productivity of the Middle Jurassic in northwestern china

Peatlands have obvious carbon storage capacity and are crucial in mitigating global climate *** the end-product of peatlands,coals have preserved a large amount of palaeoenvironmental *** carbon accumulation rate and the net primary productivity （NPP） of coal-forming peatlands can be used as proxies for recovering palaeoenvironments.A super-thick coal seam （42°35'N,91°25'E） was developed in the Middle Jurassic Xishanyao Formation in the Shaerhu coalfield in the southern margin of the Tuha （Turpan-Hami） Basin,northwestern *** this study,we use the time series analysis to identify the periods of Milankovitch orbital cycles in the gamma-ray curve of this super-thick （124.85 m） coal and then use the obtained cycle periods of 405 ka,173 ka,44 ka,37.6 ka,22.5 ka to calculate the timeframe of the coalforming peatlands which ranges from 2703.44 to 2975.11 *** that the carbon content of the coal seam is 78.32%and the carbon loss during the coalification is about 25.80%,the carbon accumulation rate of the targeted coal seam is estimated to be 58.47-64.34 g c/m2·a,and the NPP is estimated to be252.28-277.63 g c/m2·*** main palaeoenvironmental factors controlling the NPP of peatlands are cO2content,palaeolatitude and *** reduced NPP values of the palaeo-peatlands in the Shaerhu coalfield can be attributed to the mid-palaeolatitude and/or too low atmospheric *** a certain extent,the NPP of palaeo-peatlands reflects the changes in atmospheric cO2,which can further reveal the dynamic response of the global carbon cycle to climate ***,predicting the level of NPP in the Middle Jurassic and studying the final destination of carbon in the ecosystem are beneficial to understanding the coal-forming process and palaeoenvironment.

Designing highly transparent cerium doped y_(2)O_(3) ceramics with high mechanical and thermal properties for UV-shielding in extreme conditions

Ultraviolet(UV)radiation poses risks to both human health and *** response to the urgent demand for UV-shielding across various applications,extensive endeavors have been dedicated to developing UV-shielding materials spanning from wide-bandgap semiconductors to organo-inorganic composite ***,existing UV shielding materials,though suitable for daily use,cannot meet the demands of extreme *** this work,we incorporated ceO_(2)as a UV absorber into y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics for *** effect of ceO_(2)concentration on the optical,mechanical,and thermal properties of y_(2)O_(3)ceramics was systematically *** findings indicate that ceO_(2)serves not only as a UV absorber but also as an effective sintering aid for y_(2)O_(3)transparent *** 5 at%ce-doped y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics exhibit the optimal optical quality,with in-line transmittance of~77%at 800 *** introduction of ce shifted the UV cutoff edge of y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics from 250 to 375 nm,which was attributed to the visible band absorption of ce^(4+).This shift grants UV shielding capabilities to y_(2)O_(3)transparent ceramics,resulting in 100%shielding for ultraviolet c(UVc,100-280 nm)and ultraviolet B(UVB,280-320 nm)and~95%shielding for ultraviolet A(UVA,320-400 nm).The service stability(optical properties)under various corrosive conditions(acid,alkali,UV irradiation,and high temperature)was investigated,confirming the excellent stability of this transparent ceramic UV-shielding material.A comparison of the performance parameters of transparent ceramics with those of traditional UV shielding materials such as glasses,films,and coatings was *** work provides innovative design concepts and an effective solution for UVshielding materials for extreme conditions.

An Efficient Task Scheduling Algorithm in the cloud and Edge collaborative Environment

With the advent of the 5g era and the accelerated development of edge computing and Internet of Things technologies, the number of tasks to be processed by mobile devices continues to increase. Edge nodes become incapable of facing massive tasks due to their own limited computing capabilities, and thus the cloud and edge collaborative environment is produced. In order to complete as many tasks as possible while meeting the deadline constraints, we consider the task scheduling problem in the cloud-edge and edge-edge collaboration scenarios. As the number of tasks on edge nodes increases, the solution space becomes larger. considering that each edge node has its own communication range, we design an edge node based clustering algorithm(ENcA), which can reduce the feasible region while dividing the edge node set. We transform the edge nodes inside the cluster into a bipartite graph,and then propose a task scheduling algorithm based on maximum matching(SAMM). Our ENcA and SAMM are used to solve the task scheduling problem. compared with the other benchmark algorithms, experimental results show that our algorithms increase the number of the tasks which can be completed and meet the latest deadline constraints by 32%–47.2% under high load conditions.

Disposal of zinc extraction residues via iron ore sintering process:an innovative resource utilization

Zinc extraction residue,a solid waste generated from the treatment of zinc-containing dust in rotary kilns,is commonly stockpiled in steel companies for extended *** poses significant disposal challenges and environmental pollution *** far,research on the treatment of zinc extraction residues has been slow,inadequate,and *** this gap,a novel approach was proposed to effectively treat the zinc extraction residue via the iron ore sintering *** was feasible to add 1 wt.%of zinc extraction residues to the sintering raw *** more adequate mineralization reaction resulted in higher yield and tumbler indexes,despite a slight decrease in sintering *** this may result in a slight decrease in sintering speed,the more complete mineralization reaction leads to improved sintering yield and tumbler ***,the addition of zinc extraction residues reduced the cO and NO_(x) concentrations in the sintering flue ***,the iron ore sintering process provided a viable solution for resource utilization and environmentally friendly treatment of zinc extraction residues.
