Although significant progress has been made in large scale and high quality.single-walled carbon nanotube(SWNT) sy.thesis,the fabrication of SWNT-based functional devices still faces many.challenges due to the lack of good methods to precisely.control over SWNTs growth location,orientation,alignment,and electronic ***,development of practical methods for well-controlled SWNT-based device fabrication has drawn great interests from both academics and *** to numerous advantages,laser-based techniques are applied in controlled fabrication of SWNT *** this paper,we first introduce the laser assisted chemical vapor deposition(LCVD) process,and then different aspects of controllability.in device fabrication are described in three sections: 1) location and orientation control of SWNT channels integration using optical near-field effects;2) alignment control of SWNTs array. using electrical biasing polarities;3) SWNTs electronic property.control using laser-induced breakdown *** experimental results show that well-organized individual SWNT channels or array. with location,orientation,alignment,and electronic property.control can be achieved through laser assisted fabrication process,which is a promising solution for the fabrication of future SWNT-based devices.

A laser diode （LD） pumping high-stability.1047 nm TEM00mode Nd: y.iF4（Nd: y.F） continuous wave （CW） laser is reported in this letter. The laser output power of 5. 83 W with optical to optical efficiency.of 27 % and slope efficiency.of 30 % has been achieved. The instability.of output power is 0. 36% and spike caused by.relaxation oscillation has not been observed in the laser beam. The transverse cross section of laser beam is an ellipse, the diameters of laser beam at output mirror in both directions are 0. 97 mm and 1. 07 mm, respectively. The divergent angles are 0. 936 mrad and 0. 774 mrad, and the values of M2are 1. 37 and 1. 24, respectively. The polarization degree of laser beam is better than 237: 1.

Laser has been widely.applied for advanced material processing,such as welding of advanced high strength steels(AHSS) for automotive applications and Pt,Ti,and Nitinol alloy. for medical ***,ultrafast pulse laser,especially.femtosecond laser,is identified as powerful tools for joining and surface engineering of *** paper reviews our research on these fields at the Centre of Advanced Materials Joining,University.of *** conclusions are listed for laser material processing at three continuing scales.1) For AHSS welding,a thin Al lay.r can dramatically.enhanced the weldability.of galvannealed *** movement of the welding line and softening in the vicinity.has significantly.influence on global mechanical properties in dual phase(DP) and transformation induced plasticity.TRIP) *** increase of the strength ratio decreases the formability.and results in the non-uniform strain distribution.2) For medical micro-welding,oxy.en is found to be a key.role for welding strength and *** formation of intermetallics reduces the relative ductility.and increases the susceptibility.of *** laser processing parameters can significantly.influence weld mechanical performance.3) For femtosecond laser nanofabrication,the joining of Au nanoparticles is successfully.achieved by.controlling laser *** nanostructure of Ag induced by.femtosecond laser irradiation can work effective probes for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

With the increase in the use of electronic devices in many.different environments,a need has arisen for an easily.implemented method for the rapid,sensitive detection of liquids in the vicinity.of electronic *** this work,a high-performance power generator that combines carbon nanoparticles and TiO2 nanowires has been fabricated by.sequential electrophoretic deposition(EPD).The opencircuit voltage and short-circuit current of a single generator are found to exceed 0.7 V and 100μA when 6μL of water was *** generator is also found to have a stable and reproducible response to other *** output voltage of 0.3 V was obtained after 244,876,931,and 184μs,on exposure of the generator to 6μL of water,ethanol,acetone,and methanol,*** fast response time and high sensitivity.to liquids show that the device has great potential for the detection of small quantities of *** addition,the simple easily.implemented sequential EPD method ensures the high mechanical strength of the *** compact,reliable device provides a new method for the sensitive,rapid detection of extraneous liquids before they.can impact the performance of electronic circuits,particularly.those on printed circuit board.

The pressurized blister test is a very.convenient technique to measure the adhesion energy.between the thin film and the *** this paper,the interface adhesion energy.considering the substrate effect for an elastic film/substrate sy.tem was studied by.the blister test. A theory.based on the elastic plate with elastically.restrained edges was proposed to evaluate the interface adhesion energy.between the thin film and *** interface adhesion energy.was much smaller than that obtained by.neglecting the substrate effect for a steady.state of crack growth,while the interface adhesion energy.was much larger than that obtained by.neglecting the substrate effect for an unsteady.state of crack *** mixed-mode angle for bending deformation is obtained,and the ranges of the interface adhesion energy.are obtained.

Steel structures are widely.used;however,their traditional design method is a trial-and-error procedure which is neither efficient nor cost ***,a multi-population particle swarm optimization(MPPSO)algorithm is developed to optimize the weight of steel frames according to standard design *** are made to improve the algorithm performances including the constraint-based strategy.piecewise mean learning strategy.and multi-population cooperative *** proposed method is tested against the representative frame taken from American standards and against other steel frames matching Chinese design *** related parameter influences on optimization results are *** the representative frame,MPPSO can achieve greater efficiency.through reduction of the number of analy.es by.more than 65% and can obtain frame with the weight for at least 2.4%lighter.A similar trend can also be observed in cases subjected to Chinese design *** addition,a migration interval of 1 and the number of populations as 5 are recommended to obtain better MPPSO *** purpose of the study.is to propose a method with high efficiency.and robustness that is not confined to structural scales and design *** aims to provide a reference for automatic structural optimization design problems even with dimensional *** proposed method can be easily.generalized to the optimization problem of other structural sy.tems.

Sensitive magnetic field sensor with good performances can be fabricated utilizing the giant magneto-impedance (GMI) effect of soft magnetic multi-lay.r thin films. The transverse and longitudinal GMI effect in patterned FeSiB/Cu/FeSiB tri-lay.r films with the change of external magnetic field and frequency.were studied at the same time. The change of the impedance of the films with the external magnetic fieldand frequency.was shown. Comparing the longitudinal and transverse effect, the transverse effect has a larger linear range from zero magnetic field to a quite large magnetic field at all frequencies, and the change still were not saturated until the external magnetic field reached 1.2×104A/m, which illustrated that the films can be utilized to detect larger magnetic fields than now presented GMI sensors.
