A significant feature of the indoor environment is the heterogeneity.of airflow and pollutant distributions,which are primarily.dependent on ventilation *** the case of short-and high-concentration exposures to hazardous chemical pollutants,it may.be necessary.to precisely.determine the concentration in the breathing zone or,more directly.the inhalation exposure concentration in the respiratory.tract,rather than the representative room average concentration in an indoor environment,because of the non-uniformity.of pollutant concentration *** this study.we developed a computer-simulated person with a detailed respiratory.sy.tem to predict inhalation exposure concentration and inhalation dose via transient breathing and reported a demonstrative numerical simulation for analy.ing acetone concentration distributions in a simplified model *** numerical analy.is revealed that the ventilation efficiency.distribution in a room could change significantly.by.changing the design of the ventilation sy.tem,and that the inhalation exposure concentration estimated by.a computer-simulated person could differ from the representative concentration,such as perfect-mixing or volume-averaged acetone concentration,by.a factor of two or more.

Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising our communication practices and the way. in which we interact with each other. This revolution does not only.impact how we communicate, but it affects the nature of the partners with whom we communicate. Online discussion platforms now allow humans to communicate with artificial agents in the form of socialbots. Such agents have the potential to moderate online discussions and even manipulate and alter public opinions. In this paper, we propose to study.this phenomenon using a constructed large-scale agent platform. At the heart of the platform lies an artificial agent that can moderate online discussions using argumentative messages. We investigate the influence of the agent on the evolution of an online debate involving human participants. The agent will dy.amically.react to their messages by.moderating, supporting, or attacking their stances. We conducted two experiments to evaluate the platform while looking at the effects of the conversational agent. The first experiment is a large-scale discussion with 1076 citizens from Afghanistan discussing urban policy.making in the city.of Kabul. The goal of the experiment was to increase the citizen involvement in implementing Sustainable Development Goals. The second experiment is a small-scale debate between a group of 16 students about globalisation and taxation in My.nmar. In the first experiment, we found that the agent improved the responsiveness of the participants and increased the number of identified ideas and issues. In the second experiment, we found that the agent polarised the debate by.reinforcing the initial stances of the participant.

Complexation of π-conjugated ligands by.metal or semimetal ions leads to the enhancement of the planarity.and rigidity.of π-conjugated sy.tems. Boron, especially. has play.d a central role in the design of luminescent main-group complexes. However, these complexes still suffer the disadvantage of aggregation-caused quenching as well as ty.ical organic fluorophores. It has recently.been reported that some ty.es of boron complexes exhibit the aggregation-induced emission(AIE) property. Moreover, AIE behavior from complexes and organometallic compounds composed of the other group 13 elements, such as aluminum and gallium, has emerged in this decade. These observations greatly.encourage us to develop advanced functional materials based on the group 13 elements. Indeed, recent research has demonstrated that these classes of materials are potentially.versatile scaffolds for constructing chromic luminophores,efficiently.emissive π-conjugated poly.ers and so on. This review mainly.describes AIE-active group 13 complexes with four-coordinate structures and their application as photo-functional materials. Proposed mechanisms of the origins of AIE behavior are briefly.discussed.

Limb Stiffness Improvement of the Robot WAREC-1R for a Faster and Stable New Ladder Climbing Gait

Ladder climbing is a relatively.new but practical locomotion sty.e for robots. Unfortunately. due to their size and weight, ladder climbing by.human-sized robots developed so far is struggling with the speedup of ladder climbing motion itself. Therefore, in this paper, a new ladder climbing gait for the robot WAREC-1R is proposed by.the authors, which is both faster than the former ones and stable. However, to realize such a gait, a point that has to be taken into consideration is the deformation caused by.the self-weight of the robot. To deal with this issue, extra hardware (sensor) and software (position and force control) sy.tems and extra time for sensing and calculation were required. For a complete solution without any.complicated sy.tems and time only.for deformation compensation, limb stiffness improvement plan by.the minimal design change of mechanical parts of the robot is also proposed by.the authors, with a thorough study.about deformation distribution in the robot. With redesigned parts, ladder climbing experiments by.WAREC-1R proved that both the new ladder climbing gait and the limb stiffness improvement are successful, and the reduced deformation is very.close to the estimated value as well.

We study.multi-parameter regularization(multiple penalties) for solving linear inverse problems to promote simultaneously.distinct features of the sought-for objects. We revisit a balancing principle for choosing regularization parameters from the viewpoint of augmented Tikhonov regularization, and derive a new parameter choice strategy.called the balanced discrepancy.principle. A priori and a posteriori error estimates are provided to theoretically.justify.the principles, and numerical algorithms for efficiently.implementing the principles are also provided. Numerical results on deblurring are presented to illustrate the feasibility.of the balanced discrepancy.principle.

Strigolactones （SLs） are a novel class of plant hormones and rhizosphere communication signals, although the molecular mechanisms underly.ng their activities have not y.t been fully.determined. Nor is their application in agriculture well developed. The importance of plant hormone agonists has been demonstrated in both basic and applied research, and chemicals that mimic strigolactone functions should greatly.facilitate strigolactone research. Here, we report our discovery.of a new phenoxy.uranone compound, 4-Br debranone （4BD）, that shows similar activity.to that of the major strigolactone （SL） analog GR24 in many.aspects of a biological assay.on plants. 4BD strongly.inhibited tiller bud outgrowth in the SL-deficient rice mutant d10 at the same concentration as GR24, with no adverse effects, even dur- ing prolonged cultivation. This result was also observed in the Arabidopsis thaliana SL-deficient mutants max1, max3, and max4. However, the application of 4BD to the Arabidopsis SL-insensitive mutant max2 induced no morphological changes in it. The expression of SL biosy.thetic genes was also reduced by.4BD treatment, probably.via negative feed- back regulation. However, in a seed germination assay.on Striga hermonthica, a root parasitic plant, 4BD showed far less activity.than GR24. These results suggest that 4BD is the first plant-specific strigolactone mimic.
