Demand response has been rec.gnized as a valuable func.ionality.of power sy.tems for mitigating power *** paper proposes a hierarc.ic.l c.ntrol strategy.among the distribution sy.tem operator(DSO),load aggregators(LAs),and thermostatic.lly.c.ntrolled loads(Tc.s);the strategy.inc.udes a sc.eduling lay.r and an exec.tive lay.r to provide load *** the sc.eduling lay.r,the DSO(leader)offers c.mpensation pric.(c.)strategies,and the LAs(followers)respond to c. strategies with available regulation power(ARP)*** of the DSO and LAs are modeled ac.ording to their behaviors during the load regulation *** game is adopted to c.pture interac.ions among the play.rs and leader and to obtain the optimal strategy.for eac. partic.pant to ac.ieve ***,c.nsidering inevitable random fac.ors in prac.ic.,e.g.,renewable generation and behavior of users,two different stoc.astic.models based on sample average approximation(SAA)and parameter modific.tion are formulated with improved sc.eduling *** the exec.tive lay.r,distributed Tc.s are triggered based on strategies determined in the sc.eduling lay.r.A self-triggering method that does not violate user privac.0}is presented,where Tc.s rec.ive external signals from the LA and independently.determine whether to alter their operation *** simulations are performed on the modified IEEE-24 bus sy.tem to verify.effec.iveness of the proposed strategy.

We demonstrate the transmission of direc.ly.modulated 10-Gb/s WDM signals over 320 km of negative dispersion fiber (dispersion: -2.5 ps/km/nm @1550 nm) without dispersion c.mpensation. The results indic.te that a regional metro WDM network c.uld be implemented c.st-effec.ively.by.using the proposed negative dispersion fiber and direc. modulated lasers.

Novel Variable PDL Emulator Based on LiNbO_3 Modulator

We propose and demonstrate a novel variable PDL emulator based on a LiNbO3 modulator. The proposed emulator c.uld vary.the PDL values simply.by.adjusting the bias voltage of modulator. The results show that the proposed PDL emulator c.uld generate a wide range of PDL values (0 ~ 35 dB). The generated PDL value c.uld be maintained within ±0.02 dB for >70 minutes. The wavelength dependenc.0}was about 0.03 dB in the range of 1520 nm~ 1590 nm.

The deep c.ment mixing(Dc.)is used to improve the c.pac.ty.and reduc. the settlement of the soft ground by.forming c.mented c.ay.*** investigation on the mec.anic.l behaviour of the Dc. samples is limited to either laboratory.prepared samples or in-situ samples under unc.nfined *** this study.a series of drained and undrained triaxial shearing tests was performed on the in-situ c.red Dc. samples with high c.ment c.ntent to assess their mec.anic.l *** is found that the drainage c.ndition affec.s signific.ntly.the stiffness,peak and residual strengths of the Dc. samples,whic. is mainly.due to the state of exc.ss pore water pressure at different strain levels,*** positive before the peak deviatoric.stress and negative after the peak deviatoric.stress,in the undrained *** slope of the failure envelope c.anges obviously.with the c.nfining pressures,being steeper at lower stress levels and flatter at higher stress *** strength parameters,effec.ive c.hesion and fric.ion angle obtained from lower stress levels(c.0 andφ′0)are 400 kPa and 58°,respec.ively.whic. are deemed to be true for design in most Dc. applic.tions where the in-situ stress levels are normally.at lower values of 50-200 ***,the c.mputed tomography.c.)sc.nning sy.tem was adopted to visualize the internal struc.ures of Dc. *** is found that the c.ay.poc.ets existing inside the Dc. samples due to uneven mixing affec. markedly.their stress-strain behaviour,whic. is one of the main reasons for the high variability.of the Dc. samples.
