Using the momentum space representation, we solve the Klein--Gordon equation in one spatial dimension for the case of mixed scalar and vector linear potentials in the context of deformed quantum mechanics characterized by a finite minimal uncertainty in position. The expressions of bound state energies and the associated wave functions are exactly obtained.

Specific modifications of the usual canonical commutation relations between position and momentumoperators have been proposed in the literature in order to implement the idea of the existence of a minimal observablelength. Here, we study a consequence of this proposal in relativistic quantum mechanics by solving in the momentumspace representation the Klein-Gordon oscillator in arbitrary dimensions. The exact bound states spectrum and thecorresponding momentum space wave function are obtained. Following Chang et al. (Phys. Rev. D 65 (2002) 125027),we discuss constraint that can be placed on the minimal length by measuring the energy levels of an electron in a penningtrap.

The Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) is a powerful biological tool to control pest-populations. It could be integrated in management programmes of the Red Palm Weevil (RPW) Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier. This pest threatens seriously date palms particularly in Saudi Arabia. As a matter of fact, the use of SIT has been very efficient in controlling RPW populations in coconut gardens in various countries. In this work, we outline the extinction conditions of a target wild-population using a one-sided competition model to describe its competition with released sterile insects. We employ a Holling type I functional response to describe the sterile-fertile one-sided competition and we consider two intra-specific competition sub-models, with and without Allee Effect, in modelling the growth of the wild-type population. We also study two manners of liberating sterile insects: single and periodic release strategies.

The study of physical systems endowed with a position-dependent mass (PDM) remains a fundamental issue of quantum mechanics. In this paper we use a new approach, recently developed by us for building the quantum kinetic energy operator (KEO) within the Schrodinger equation, in order to construct a new class of exactly solvable models with a position varying mass, presenting a harmonic-oscillator-like spectrum. To do so we utilize the formalism of supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSy QM) along with the shape invariance condition. Recent outcomes of non-Hermitian quantum mechanics are also taken into account.

Objective To evaluate histopathological alterations of the liver and kidney of female rats exposed to low doses of DM and its potential genotoxic activity. Methods Female Wistar rats were randomly assigned to control （3 groups, 6 rats in each） and treatment groups （3 groups, 6 rats in each）. They were subjected to subcutaneous injections of DM （at doses of 0.003, 0.03, and 0.3 mg/kg bw/d） after 30, 45, and 60 d, respectively. Results Significant alterations were recorded in liver parenchyma induced by hepatic vacuolization, fragmented chromatin in nuclei, dilatation of sinusoids and congestions. Lesions within proximal and distal tubules were observed in the kidneys. Tissue congestions and severe alterations within glomeruli were visible. DM as a pyrethroid insecticide induced significant increase （P〈_O.05） of plasma MDA concentrations after 45 d. A significant increase （P_〈0.05） in plasma ALT （after 45 and 60 d） and AST （after 60 d） concentrations was recorded as compared to controls. During the whole experimental period the toxic agent provoked significant DNA damages （P〈0.05）, especially in the dominance of classes 3 and 4 of obtained comet. Conclusion DM even at a very low dose displays harmful effects by disrupting hepatic and renal function and causing DNA damages in puberscent female rats. Low doses of DM are hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic.

Liver Function and Structure in Rats Treated Simultaneously with Cadmium and Mercury

The effect of cadmium chloride (150 mg/l) and mercury (II) chloride (80 mg/l) either alone or in combination in drinking water for 4 weeks on function and structure of the liver of male rats was studied. Results indicated that the ratio of liver weight to body weight and the activities of serum alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase noted in rats co-exposed to cadmium and mercury were intermediate between those noted in the individually metal treated rats. The histopathological study showed that the individual metal and the combined metal treatments caused severe liver damage. The degree of these changes noted in rats co-exposed to cadmium and mercury was not higher than those signalized in individual treatment. The biochemical and the histological changes observed in rats co-exposed to cadmium and mercury show that there is not an additive effect between these two metals.

宫颈浸润性腺癌的临床病理特点及预后因子

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcome of patients with cervical adenocarcinoma and to determine the characteristics and the prognostic factors of this entity. Study design: This retrospective study was done in the Department of Surgical Oncology of the Salah Azaiz Institute of Tunis with 79 cases of invasive adenocarcinoma of the uterine cervix that were collected from 1990 to 1999. Survival was analyzed according to the Kaplan-Meier method. Univariate analysis of prognostic factors was performed with the test of log rank. Cox regression model was used in multivariate analysis of prognostic factors. Results: Mean age was 50 years, and metrorrhagia was mostly revealing in 73%of the cases. Early stages (I, IIa, IIb with 1/3 proximal parametrial invasion) and “pure”type adenocarcinoma were found in 78%and 87%of the cases, respectively. Treatment consisted of a radiosurgical combination in 52 cases; exclusive radiotherapy was practiced with 17 patients. The 5 year-overall and disease-free survival percentages were, respectively, 68%and 72.4%. Poor prognostic factors were age > 50 years, tumor size > 4 cm, advanced stage, tumor grade, and lymph nodes and lymph-vascular space involvement. With the use of multivariate analysis, only stage and lymph node metastases remained significant prognostic factors. Conclusion: This report shows survival and prognostic factors that are similar to those found in previous studies, but unlike the Western countries, our results demonstrate a high rate of early stages and no increase in frequency of cervical adenocarcinoma.
