Comparison and analysis of mitigation ambitions of Parties’ updated Nationally Determined Contributions

Understanding mitigation ambitions of the Nationally Determined Contributions(NDCs)should include both the equity of supporting the Paris Agreement goals and the costs of achieving the proposed mitigation *** study presents a new framework that combines equity and economic costs to compare and analyze mitigation ambitions of Parties'updated *** representative 2℃ and 1.5℃ pathways,this framework uses multiple equity-principled allocations to derive the alignment of the updated NDCs with the Paris Agreement goals,and further applies a computable general equilibrium model to assess the economic costs of implementing the updated *** results show that global 2030 emissions may meet the selected global 2℃ pathway if all Parties achieve their most ambitious mitigation efforts,but there is still an emissions gap of 10-15 GtCO_(2) to follow the selected 1.5℃ *** the perspective of equity,the updated NDCs of the USA,the EU(including the UK in this study),and Japan lack ambition with respect to‘equal cumulative per capita emissions’under 2℃ and do not align with any equity principles under 1.5℃.The updated NDCs of China,India,Brazil and South Africa reflect their claims to‘equity’and‘common but differentiated responsibilities’.From the perspective of economic costs,the GDP and welfare losses of China,Brazil and South Africa incurred by achieving the updated NDCs are not lower than those of the three developed ***'s GDP loss is estimated at 0.43%-0.55%in 2030,which is higher than that of the USA(0.30%-0.38%)and the EU(0.25%-0.28%).This study suggests that developed Parties take the lead in further ratcheting up the NDCs and strengthen financial and technological support to developing countries so that the world could close the gap to 1.5℃.

Equity and efficiency are two important factors guiding the mitigation of anthropogenic emissions to achieve the Paris climate *** studies have proposed a range of allocations of global carbon budgets,but few have quantified the equity-efficiency *** on an investigation of the existing allocation literature,this study conducts a novel analysis using a‘mixed’allocation‘big-data’framework to understand the equityeefficiency interaction in the distribution of global carbon budgets under 2℃ and 1.5℃ warming *** a global scale,a carbon Gini coefficient and aggregate abatement costs are used as quantitative metrics to reflect equity and efficiency,*** show an equity-efficiency frontier that reflects the opportunity for the international community to co-improve equity and efficiency on top of existing ***,the frontier also features strong trade-offs to further improve equity and efficiency if national allocations are to be achieved *** analysis verifies that such trade-offs are sensitively dependent on the level of global connection and *** national mitigation actions and potentials can help promote equity-efficiency synergies and contribute to the efficient achievement of the Paris Agreement's temperature and equity goals.

Spillover of international crude oil prices on China's refined oil wholesale prices and price forecasting:Daily-frequency data of private enterprises and local refineries

Compared with retail prices of state-owned companies used in almost all existing studies,China’s refined oil wholesale prices of private enterprises and local refineries are more affected by the market and better reflect the real supply-demand *** the first time,this paper applies own-monitored dailyfrequency wholesale prices of China’s private enterprises and local refineries during 2013-2020 to derive spillover effects of international crude oil prices on China’s refined oil prices through the VAR-BEKKGARCH(vector autoregression-Baba,Engle,Kraft,and Kroner-generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity)model,and then tries to forecast wholesale prices through the PCA-BP(principal component analysis-back propagation)neural network *** show that international crude oil prices have significant mean spillover and volatility spillover effects on China’s refined oil wholesale *** in crude oil prices are the Granger cause of changes in refined oil wholesale *** the improvement of China’s oil-pricing mechanism in 2016,the volatility spillover from the international crude oil market to China’s refined oil market gradually increases,and the BRENT price variation has an increasing impact on the refined oil wholesale price *** PCA-BP model could serve as a candidate tool for forecasting China’s refined oil wholesale prices.

Tensor Decomposition-assisted Multiview Subgroup Analysis

To learn the subgroup structure generated by multidimensional interaction, we propose a novel multiview subgroup integration technique based on tensor decomposition. Compared to the traditional subgroup analysis that can only handle single-view heterogeneity, our proposed method achieves a greater level of homogeneity within the subgroups, leading to enhanced interpretability and predictive power. For computational readiness of the proposed method, we build an algorithm that incorporates pairwise shrinkage-encouraging penalties and ADMM techniques. Theoretically, we establish the asymptotic consistency and normality of the proposed estimators. Extensive simulation studies and real data analysis demonstrate that our proposal outperforms other methods in terms of prediction accuracy and grouping consistency. In addition, the analysis based on the proposed method indicates that intergenerational care significantly increases the risk of chronic diseases associated with diet and fatigue in all provinces while only reducing the risk of emotion-related chronic diseases in the eastern coastal and central regions of China.

Memristive crossbar arrays(MCAs)offer parallel data storage and processing for energy-efficient neuromorphic ***,most wafer-scale MCAs that are compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)technology still suffer from substantially larger energy consumption than biological synapses,due to the slow kinetics of forming conductive paths inside the memristive *** we report wafer-scale Ag_(2)S-based MCAs realized using CMOS-compatible processes at temperatures below 160℃.Ag_(2)S electrolytes supply highly mobile Ag+ions,and provide the Ag/Ag_(2)S interface with low silver nucleation barrier to form silver filaments at low energy *** further enhancing Ag+migration in Ag_(2)S electrolytes via microstructure modulation,the integrated memristors exhibit a record low threshold of approximately−0.1 V,and demonstrate ultra-low switching-energies reaching femtojoule values as observed in biological *** low-temperature process also enables MCA integration on polyimide substrates for applications in flexible ***,the intrinsic nonidealities of the memristive units for deep learning can be compensated by employing an advanced training *** impressive accuracy of 92.6%in image recognition simulations is demonstrated with the MCAs after the *** demonstrated MCAs provide a promising device option for neuromorphic computing with ultra-high energy-efficiency.

Experimental study on the buckling of composite cylinders with reinforced circular hole under hydrostatic pressure

In this paper,a type of reinforcing structure for composite shell with single and through hole is *** experimental tests for the composite shells without hole,with single hole and reinforced structure,with through hole and reinforced structure subjected to hydrostatic pressure were carried out by the designed experimental test *** mechanical responses of the composite shells under hydrostatic pressure are obtained by the high-speed camera and strain *** results show that the entire deformation process of the shell can be divided into three:uniform compression,"buckling mode formation"and ***"buckling mode formation"process is captured and reported for the first *** the composite shell with single hole,the proposed reinforcing structure has a significant reinforcement effect on the shell and the buckling capacity of the shell is not weaker than the complete composite *** the composite shell with through hole,sealing effect can be achieved by the proposed reinforcing structure,but the buckling capacity of the shell after reinforcement can only reach 77%of the original buckling capacity.

Dion-Jacobson （DJ） phase hybrid perovskites have been proven to improve the photovoltaic performance of the devices due to its unique *** present,some DJ hybrid perovskites have been reported and used for photodetection filed,but most of them are based on lead-bromide systems,which is not conducive to construct broadband photodetection devices due to the limitation of intrinsic ***,we constructed a bilayered DJ hybrid perovskite （3AMPY）(EA)Pb2I7(3AMPY2+is 3-（aminomethyl）pyridinium,EA+is ethylammonium) using an aromatic spacer,which exhibit large current on/off ratios of 10～4under 520 and 637 nm *** particular,the single crystal device based on （3AMPY）(EA)Pb2I7shows a distinguished detectivity of 7.4×1012Jones and a high responsivity of 0.89A/W under 637 nm *** finding not only enriches the quantities of DJ hybrid perovskites,but also provides useful assistance for constructing high-performance optoelectronic device in the future.

Construction of novel spherical ZnIn2S4-Ag-LaFeO3 heterostructures for enhancing photocatalytic efficiency

Herein we report novel photocatalysts ZnIn2S4-Ag-LaFeO3with the core-shell structured materials prepared by hydrothermal *** order to improve the efficiency of photocatalytic degradation of pollutants,LaFeO3was prepared by hydrothermal followed by calcination,and further Ag nanoparticle（NP） was loaded onto the spherical structure of LaFeO3by photolysis of silver nitrate,and finally the spherical Znln2S4-Ag-LaFeO3photocatalyst was prepared by hydrothermal method *** structure and properties of the as-prepared materials were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy and fluorescence *** results show that the synthesized composite photocatalysts display a significant improvement in photocatalytic efficiency relative to the single LaFeO3and ZnIn2S4and form a core-shell ***,the effect of the ratio of each component on the photocatalytic efficiency was investigated in detail,and it is discovered that at an Methylene Blue（MB） concentration of 0.219 mol/L,the degradation rate of MB is 95% at 120 min using 0.02 g of catalyst with an ideal ZnIn2S4:Ag:LaFeO3ratio of 10:0.5:*** possible mechanisms to improve the photocatalytic efficiency were explored.

Isobaric enzymatic assays reveal depth-dependent variation in microbial ectoenzyme activities in the deepest ocean on Earth

Microbial ectoenzymes play essential roles in the transformation and mineralization of organic matter in the ***,conventional methods for measuring microbial ectoenzyme activities(MEAs)in the deep ocean under atmospheric conditions can misrepresent the metabolic activities of indigenous microbial *** overcome this limitation,we measured the activities of three microbial ectoenzymes(aminopeptidase,α-glucosidase,andβ-glucosidase)under both atmospheric and in situ pressure conditions in seawater collected using pressure-retaining and non-pressure-retaining samplers in the Challenger Deep,Mariana *** the case of aminopeptidase andα-glucosidase,the highest isobaric MEAs were observed in the surface layer(50 m),followed by those at abyssopelagic depths(4,000–6,000 m)for aminopeptidase,hadal realm(10,903 m)forα-glucosidase,whileβ-glucosidase activity exhibited the highest value at 10,903 ***,the isobaric MEAs in hadal waters were commonly found to be higher than the decompressed counterparts,highlighting the importance of pressure-retaining sampling and isobaric enzymatic *** half-saturation constant(K_(m))showed a general decreasing trend with depth,suggesting that the deep ocean microbes might have adapted to the high-pressure and oligotrophic environment by increasing their ectoenzyme's affinity to ***,particle-free MEAs contribute more to the total MEAs in the deep ocean than particle-associated MEAs,suggesting the significance of cell-associated and dissolved ectoenzymes in ocean *** study provides a foundation for future investigations of MEAs in the ocean and has important implications for understanding the dynamics of microbially mediated biogeochemical cycling in marine ecosystems.
