Ethical Decision-Making Framework Based on Incremental ILP Considering Conflicts

Humans are experiencing the inclusion of artificial agents in their lives,such as unmanned vehicles,service robots,voice assistants,and intelligent medical care.If the artificial agents cannot align with social values or make ethical decisions,they may not meet the expectations of humans.Traditionally,an ethical decision-making framework is constructed by rule-based or statistical approaches.In this paper,we propose an ethical decision-making framework based on incremental ILP(Inductive Logic Programming),which can overcome the brittleness of rule-based approaches and little interpretability of statistical approaches.As the current incremental ILP makes it difficult to solve conflicts,we propose a novel ethical decision-making framework considering conflicts in this paper,which adopts our proposed incremental ILP system.The framework consists of two processes:the learning process and the deduction process.The first process records bottom clauses with their score functions and learns rules guided by the entailment and the score function.The second process obtains an ethical decision based on the rules.In an ethical scenario about chatbots for teenagers’mental health,we verify that our framework can learn ethical rules and make ethical decisions.Besides,we extract incremental ILP from the framework and compare it with the state-of-the-art ILP systems based on ASP(Answer Set Programming)focusing on conflict resolution.The results of comparisons show that our proposed system can generate better-quality rules than most other systems.

The Laizhou Bay(LB)represents a substantial ecological area that is vulnerable to human activities and confronts diverse environmental challenges.This study provides a comprehensive characterization of nutrients,petroleum,heavy metals,and phytoplankton community structure across seven distinct areas in LB.The results indicate relatively high concentrations of NO_(2)-N,SiO_(4)-Si,and NO_(3)-N in the Southwest Laizhou Bay(SWLB)and Huanghe River Estuary(HRE).In contrast,the East Laizhou bay(ELB)and the North of Huanghe River Estuary(NHRE)exhibit the highest concentrations of heavy metals(As,Cr and Hg).The areas with high phytoplankton density and community diversity are mainly located in the SWLB.After adjusting for basic environmental factors,phytoplankton density and Margalef richness index D are significantly associated with nutrients(NO_(3)-N,NO_(2)-N,NH_(4)-N,SiO_(4)-Si),and heavy metal(Cr)concentrations.We highlight that,in addition to Xiaoqinghe River,nutrients brought by the Mihe River in the SWLB and heavy metal(Cr)pollution in the ELB resulting from industrial and mining activities along the coast significantly influence phytoplankton growth and community structure.Therefore,it is recommended that more monitoring and management efforts be focused on these regions in the future.

Resource recycling from waste-water and sludge is an important part of the 14th Five-Year Plan in China.The emerging titanium-based coagulants have drawn growing attentions due to their strong coagulation capability in water purification and value-added Ti-loaded sludge production.Management and recovery of the high value-added sludge into functional nanomaterials is highly significant for both sludge reduction and environmental remediation.The present study was carried out to investigate the recycle of the coagulated Ti-loaded sludge to produce functional C/TiO_(2)composites as the anode materials for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).It is the first time that the application of the Ti-loaded wastewater sludge derived C/TiO_(2)was evaluated for LIBs.The experimental results showed that the carbon coating through in-situ carbonization of the sludge produced the C/TiO_(2)composites with a high specific surface area,stable structural integrity,and excellent electrochemical properties that would facilitate Li+diffusion in long-term LIBs usage.The C/TiO_(2)composites calcinated from the polytitanium sulfate-coagulated sludge at 800℃(N_(2))exhibited the best electrochemical performance during the cycling tests(601 m Ah/g at 100 m A/g after 200 cycles).The research work demonstrates the promising prospect of the recycle and value-added utilization of the Ti-loaded sludge in the production of high-performance C/TiO_(2)composites for energy storage applications.This study provides a new way for the management and reuse of Ti-loaded waste-sludge.

The application of light-weight current collectors is preferred because of the increased energy density of the batteries.Bearing it in mind,the cathode is designed with self-made paperlike memberane as current collector coupled with another interlayer to enable the high-energy-density lithium-sulfur batteries.Via a facile and green step-by-step methodology,the hybrid membrane is finalized successfully,consisting of reduced graphene oxide sheets covering paper-derived carbon(GPC)bearing Fe@Fe2O3 and Fe1−xS@Fe2O3 core-shell nanoparticles(FeFeO/FeSFeO@GPC).The film works as the current collector and interlayer simultaneously considering the porous and conductive features.As demonstrated by the electrochemical testing,the FeFeO/FeSFeO@GPC hybrid cell exhibits attractive cycling stability and superior rate capability.The cell configuration and structural/composition merits of FeFeO/FeSFeO@GPC film facilitate the faster reaction kinetics,conducive to the improvement of capacity retention.In view of the effective cathode design,the areal sulfur loading is increased to 10.46 mg·cm^(−2)and a reversible capacity of 6.67 mAh·cm^(−2)can be retained after 60 cycles at 0.1 C.

Herein,a novel interference-free surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)strategy based on magnetic nanoparticles(MNPs)and aptamer-driven assemblies was proposed for the ultrasensitive detection of histamine.A core-satellite SERS aptasensor was constructed by combining aptamer-decorated Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au MNPs(as the recognize probe for histamine)and complementary DNA-modified silver nanoparticles carrying 4-mercaptobenzonitrile(4-MBN)(Ag@4-MBN@Ag-c-DNA)as the SERS signal probe for the indirect detection of histamine.Under an applied magnetic field in the absence of histamine,the assembly gave an intense Raman signal at“Raman biological-silent”region due to 4-MBN.In the presence of histamine,the Ag@4-MBN@Ag-c-DNA SERS-tag was released from the Fe_(3)O_(4)@Au MNPs,thus decreasing the SERS signal.Under optimal conditions,an ultra-low limit of detection of 0.65×10^(-3)ng/mL and a linear range 10^(-2)-10^5 ng/mL on the SERS aptasensor were obtained.The histamine content in four food samples were analyzed using the SERS aptasensor,with the results consistent with those determined by high performance liquid chromatography.The present work highlights the merits of indirect strategies for the ultrasensitive and highly selective SERS detection of small biological molecules in complex matrices.

Discovering more and new geometrically frustrated systems remains an active point of inquiry in fundamental physics for the existence of unusual states of matter.Here,we report spin-liquid-like behavior in a two-dimensional(2D)rhombic lattice Fe-metal-organic framework(Fe-MOF)with frustrated antiferromagnetism.This Fe-MOF exhibits a high frustration factor f=|θCW|/TN≥315,and its long-range magnetic order is suppressed down to 180 mK.Detailed theoretical calculations demonstrate strong antiferromagnetic coupling between adjacent Fe3+ions,indicating the potential of a classical spin-liquid-like behavior.Notably,a T-linear heat capacity parameter,γ,originating from electronic contributions and with magnetic field independence up to 8 T,can be observed in the specific heat capacity measurements at low-temperature,providing further proof for the spin-liquid-like behavior.This work highlights the potential of MOF materials in geometrically frustrated systems,and will promote the research of exotic quantum physics phenomena.

In this article,a method is proposed for the characterisation of epoxy resin thermal and hygrothermal ageing based on microwave resonator with interdigital‐capacitor‐shaped defected ground structure(IDCS‐DGS),which can realise rapid and simple non‐destructive testing of the ageing degree of epoxy resin materials.The resonant frequency of IDCS‐DGS was proved to decrease with the increase of dielectric constant of the around material by means of simulation.The breakdown test at high voltage showed the deterio-ration of epoxy resin after hygrothermal ageing,which is caused by moisture absorption and hydrolysis process.In addition,thermal ageing also caused a decline in the insulation per-formance of epoxy resin samples.Accelerated oxidation of epoxy resin samples at high temperatures produces polar molecules that increase the dielectric constant of the samples.As for the hygrothermal ageing samples,the entrance of polar water molecules will increase the dielectric constant of epoxy resin,and thus make an effect on the resonant frequency of IDCS‐DGS.The tests of transmission performance show that after the hygrothermally aged epoxy resin samples were put on the microwave sensor,the resonant frequency decreased continuously with hygrothermal ageing time,and the deviations of resonant frequency are highly consistent with the weight variation rate of the samples.

Deep-sea sediment disturbance may occur when collecting polymetallic nodules,resulting in the creation of plumes that could have a negative impact on the ecological environment.This study aims to investigate the potential solution of using polyaluminum chloride(PAC)in the water jet.The effects of PAC are examined through a self-designed simulation system for deep-sea polymetallic nodule collection and sediment samples from a potential deep-sea mining area.The experimental results showed that the optimal PAC dose was found to be 0.75 g/L.Compared with the test conditions without the addition of PAC,the presence of PAC leads to a reduction in volume,lower characteristic turbidity,smaller diffusion velocity,and shorter settling time of the plume.This indicates that PAC inhibits the entire development process of the plume.The addition of PAC leads to the flocculation of mm-sized particles,resulting in the formation of cm-sized flocs.The flocculation of particles decreases the rate of erosion on the seabed by around 30%.This reduction in erosion helps to decrease the formation of plumes.Additionally,when the size of suspended particles increases,it reduces the scale at which they diffuse.Furthermore,the settling velocity of flocs(around 10^(-2) m/s)is much higher that of compared to sediment particles(around 10^(-5) m/s),which effectively reduces the amount of time the plume remains in suspension.
