Experimental Study on Inducement and Development of Flow Instabilities in a Centrifugal Compressor with Different Diffuser Types

A centrifugal compressor is a typical compressed air energy storage device. In order to ensure the safety of the compressed energy storage process in the compressor, the internal unsteady flow phenomena need to be closely monitored, especially some serious ones like stall and surge. It is necessary to explore the mechanism of flow instabilities under different conditions. A centrifugal air compressor was tested with a vaneless diffuser and a variable vaned diffuser with five different vane setting angles, respectively. Various diffuser types resulted in various modes of flow instabilities prior to surge. The vaneless region between the impeller and the diffuser was focused on. Multiple high-speed sensors were arranged along the circumferential direction. The pressure signals at all these positions were being measured and collected in real time as the compressor was slowly throttled into surge. This paper emphasizes on the influence of matching between the impeller and the diffuser on the flow instability. The experimental results showed that the diffuser vane setting angle affected the stall characteristics. Due to the asymmetry of the volute, the circumferential pressure distribution was always severely distorted prior to surge. A high-pressure region appeared near the volute tongue, and a low-pressure region was formed away from the volute tongue. In the case of the vaned diffuser with non-design installation angle and the vaneless diffuser, the rotating stall signal was originated in the low-pressure region and propagated circumferentially. However, in the case of the vaned diffuser with the design installation angle, the circumferential high-pressure region became the most sensitive region for the generation of stall, and another form of instability occurred there. High-resolution non-emissive displays based on electrochromic tungsten oxides(WOx)are crucial for future near-eye virtual/augmented reality interactions,given their impressive attributes such as high environmental stability,ideal outdoor readability,and low energy ***,the limited intrinsic structure of inorganic materials has presented a significant challenge in achieving precise patterning/pixelation at the micron ***,we successfully developed the direct photolithography for WOx nanoparticles based on in situ photo-induced ligand *** strategy enabled us to achieve ultra-high resolution efficiently(line width3600 cycles),as well as promising applications in electronic logos,pixelated displays,flexible electronics,*** success and advancements presented here are expected to inspire and accelerate research and development(R&D)in high-resolution non-emissive displays and other ultra-fine micro-electronics.

The pre-wetting of aggregate surface is a means to improve the interface performance of SBS modified asphalt and *** effect of pre-wetting technology on the interaction between SBS modified asphalt and aggregate was analyzed by molecular dynamics *** diffusion coefficient and concentration distribution of SBS modified asphalt on aggregate surface are *** simulation results show that the diffusion coefficient of the aggregate surface of SBS modified asphalt is increased by 47.6%and 70.5%respectively after 110#asphalt and 130#asphalt are *** concentration distribution of SBS modified asphalt on the aggregate surface after pre-wetting is more *** to the results of interface energy calculation,the interface energy of SBS modified bitumen and aggregate can be increased by about 5%after *** to the results of molecular dynamics simulation,the pre-wetting technology can effectively improve the interface workability of SBS modified bitumen and aggregate,so as to improve the interface performance.

Due to the poor solubility of aromatic polyesters in comm on orga nic solve nts,trifluoroacetic acid is usually used as a co-solve nt to increase their solubility for ***,only few studies have reported the side reactions induced by *** present here the application of in situ 1H-NMR techniques to explore its effect on the hydroxyl end-groups,which are usually used for the molecular weight determination of polyesters by end-group estimation *** bis(2-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate(BHET)as model compound,quantitative NMR results show the peak integration of hydroxyethyl end-groups decreased with time via a pseudo-first-order kinetics in d-trifluoroacetic acid/d-chloroform mixture solvent(1:10,V:V).This is due to the esterification of hydroxyethyl groups with trifluoroacetic acid,revealed by the H-^(13)C gradient-enhanced heteronuclear multiple bond correlation(gHMBC)*** mixtures of dimethyl terephthalate and BHET with different molar ratios were used to represent poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)with different degrees of polymerization,and the effect of trifluoroacetic acid on the estimation of hydroxyethyl groups and subsequent molecular weight determination of polyesters was *** results show that if a relative error of 5%is allowed,the NMR measurements must be finished within 1.3 h of solution preparation at 25℃ in the mixture solve *** results were confirmed in PET sample,while in poly(ethyle ne adipate),the obtained esterifaction con stant is faster that those in aromatic *** results can be applied to other polymer systems with alcohol functionalized groups,and used as a guideline for the characterization of polyesters and polyethers by end-group estimation method.

Developing new drugs to treat Parkinson's disease efficiently is challenging. Here we report that chitosan nanoparticles(APPDNs) could serve as novel candidates for the design of anti-PD drugs. In this study, we investigated the effects of chitosan poly ethyleneglycol-poly lactic acid(PEG-PLA) nanoparticles conjugated with nerve growth factor(NGF), acteoside(ACT) and plasmid DNA(p DNA) for PD therapy using in vitro and in vivo models. Using PD cell models, we demonstrated that APPDN had good neuroprotective effects. More significantly, experiments using mouse PD models demonstrated that APPDNs could ameliorate the behavioral disorders of sick mice. Immunohistochemical and western blot(WB) analyses demonstrated that APPDNs could significantly reverse dopaminergic(DA) neuron loss in the substantia nigra and striatum of sick mice. This study opens up a novel avenue to develop anti-PD drugs.

Anatase TiO_(2) is a promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries,yet the low electronic and ionic conductivities are the main obstacles for its practical *** though the amorphization of TiO_(2) upon sodiation has already been observed,its underneath mechanisms are not fully ***,a low-cost nitrogen-containing carbon source of polyacrylonitrile is adopted to modify commercial anatase TiO_(2) by a convenient and nontoxic ball-milling technique combined with subsequent annealing *** particular,the employment of a nitrogen-doping approach accompanied by nitrogendoped carbon coating,results in a greatly improved conductivity,overall leading to a high reversible capacity of about 260 m A h g^(-1)at 25 m A g^(-1),superior rate capabilities,and an ultra-stable capacity of about 186 m A h g^(-1)after 1600 cycles at 500 m A g^(-1).Detailed characterizations denote that the improved conductivity as well as the small size of the synthesized TiO_(2) grains play a key role in the TiO_(2) amorphization upon sodiation,with the TiO_(2)/C nanocomposite undergoing a complete amorphization in just few ***,the irreversible amorphization of TiO_(2) is confirmed to be a crucial ingredient facilitating the Na+diffusion kinetics and pseudocapacitive behavior,thus boosting the sodium storage performance.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)have attracted significant attention with respect to renewable energy power generation systems because of the abundant reserves of sodium on ***,anode materials are presently limited by low energy density,poor rate performance and inferior cycling *** recent years,tin disulfide(SnS_(2))with a particular layered structure has been considered as a promising anode material for SIBs due to its high theoretical capacity and low ***,a nervoussystem-like structured SnS_(2)/CNTs composite was successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal *** SnS_(2)sheets were strung with carbon nanotubes(CNTs)to form a hierarchical porous structure,which is effective for electrolyte diffusion and electronic *** large distance of the(001)plane(0.5899 nm)of SnS_(2)favors Na+insertion-extraction *** from these structural characteristics,SnS_(2)/CNTs electrodes exhibit high specific capacity,excellent rate performance and superior cycling stability.A high charge capacity of 642 mAh·g^(-1)was released at 0.2 A·g^(-1),and then,a high reversible capacity of 427 mAh·g^(-1)was retained after 100 *** charged at 2 A·g^(-1),the SnS_(2)/CNTS electrode maintained a capacity of 282 mAh·g^(-1).The nervous-system-like structure of the SnS_(2)/CNTs composite provides a novel strategy for the development of SIBs with high electrochemical performance.

Niobates are promising all-climate Li^(+)-storage anode material due to their fast charge transport,large specific capacities,and resistance to electrolyte ***,their moderate unit-cellvolume expansion(generally 5%–10%)during Li^(+)storage causes unsatisfactory long-term ***,“zero-strain”NiNb_(2)O_(6) fibers are explored as a new anode material with comprehensively good electrochemical *** Li^(+)storage,the expansion of electrochemical inactive NiO_(6) octahedra almost fully offsets the shrinkage of active NbO_(6) octahedra through reversible O *** superior volume-accommodation capability of the NiO_(6) layers guarantees the“zero-strain”behavior of NiNb_(2)O_(6) in a broad temperature range(0.53%//0.51%//0.74%at 25//−10//60℃),leading to the excellent cyclability of the NiNb_(2)O_(6) fibers(92.8%//99.2%//91.1%capacity retention after 1000//2000//1000 cycles at 10C and 25//−10//60℃).This NiNb_(2)O_(6) material further exhibits a large reversible capacity(300//184//318 mAh g−1 at 0.1C and 25//−10//60℃)and outstanding rate performance(10 to 0.5C capacity percentage of 64.3%//50.0%//65.4%at 25//−10//60℃).Therefore,the NiNb_(2)O_(6) fibers are especially suitable for large-capacity,fast-charging,long-life,and all-climate lithium-ion batteries.
