Straw addition increases enzyme activities and microbial carbon metabolism activities in bauxite residue

Recovery of microbial functions is one of the critical processes in the nutrient cycling of bauxite residue for improving *** is considered to be effective to increase microbial diversity and drive the development of the microbial community,but its effect on microbial carbon metabolism has not been *** present study evaluated the effects of phosphogypsum(PG),straw(SF)and phosphogypsum plus straw(PGSF)on physicochemical properties,enzyme activities,and microbial carbon metabolism activities in bauxite *** 180 days incubation,PG,SF and PGSF treatment significantly reduced the residue pH from 10.85 to 8.64,9.39 and 8.06,*** to CK treatment,SF treatment significantly increased the content of total organic carbon(TOC)and organic carbon fractions(DOC,MBC,EOC,and POC).In addition,straw addition significantly increased glucosidase,cellulose,urease,and alkaline phosphatase by 7.2-9.1 times,5.8-7.1 times,11.1-12.5 times,and 1.1-2.2 times,*** Biolog results showed that straw addition significantly increased microbial metabolic activity(AWCD)and diversity in bauxite *** analysis indicated total nitrogen(TN)and carbon fractions(POC,MBC and DOC)were the most important environmental factors affecting microbial metabolic activity and diversity in bauxite *** findings provided us with a biogeochemical perspective to reveal soil formation in bauxite residue and suggested that nutrient supplement and regulation of salinity-alkalinity benefit the establishment of microbial communities and functions in bauxite residue.

Elevation response of above-ground net primary productivity for Picea crassifolia to climate change in Qilian Mountains of Northwest China based on tree rings

Current ecosystem models used to simulate global terrestrial carbon balance generally suggest that terrestrial landscapes are stable and mature,but terrestrial net primary productivity(NPP)data estimated without accounting for disturbances in species composition,environment,structure,and ecological characteristics will reduce the accuracy of the global carbon ***,the steady-state assumption and neglect of elevation-related changes in forest NPP is a *** Qilian Mountains are located in continental climate zone,and vegetation is highly sensitive to climate *** quantified aboveground biomass(AGB)and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)sequences at three elevations using field-collected tree rings of Picea crassifolia in Qilian Mountains of Northwest *** results showed that(1)There were significant differences between AGB and ANPP at the three elevations,and the growth rate of AGB was the highest at the low elevation(55.99 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1)).(2)There are differences in the response relationship between the ANPP and climate factors at the three elevations,and drought stress is the main climate signal affecting the change of ANPP.(3)Under the future climate scenario,drought stress intensifies,and the predicted decline trend of ANPP at the three elevations from mid-century to the end of this century is–0.025 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1),respectively;–0.022 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1);At–0.246 t ha^(–1)10a^(–1),the level of forest productivity was significantly *** results reveal the elevation gradient differences in forest productivity levels and provide key information for studying the carbon sink potential of boreal forests.

Heart failure(HF)is a clinical hallmark of cardiovascular syndrome leading to substantial morbidity,repeated hospitalization,and enormous healthcare *** elderly populations continue to increase,biomarker-guided diagnosis and treatment for age-related cardiac decline have become *** evidence demonstrates that N-terminal proBNP(NT-proBNP)can provide a unique window into the diagnosis and risk stratification with ***,a simple yet robust aptasensor is developed for on-site recognizing the NT-proBNP by its targeting aptamer,thus achieving the accurate diagnosis of *** aptasensing system is prepared by absorbing the fluorophore-labeled aptamer strand onto the graphene oxide(GO),leading to efficient quenching without possible off-site signal *** aptamer strand can specifically identify target NT-proBNP molecules via a versatile conformational transformation,resulting in the desorption of the aptamer-NTproBNP complexes from GO and re-generation fluorescence signal,thus allowing sensitive detection of NT-proBNP in 37 clinical blood *** advantage of the high specificity of aptamer-guaranteed recognitions of NT-proBNP,this aptasensor system readily achieves better diagnostic performance for HF than commercially adopted chemiluminescence immunoassay(Siemens,CLIA)in hospitals in terms of accuracy(89.2%vs 83.8%),specificity(89.5%vs 84.2%),and positive predictive value(88.9%vs 83.3%).This work provides a stable option for the diagnosis and treatment of elderly HF-related diseases inclinics.

Supporting IrO_(x)nanosheets on hollow TiO_(2)for highly efficient acidic water splitting

The efficiency of proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEM-WE)for hydrogen production is heavily dependent on the noble metal iridium-based ***,the scarcity of iridium limits the large-scale application of *** address this issue,it is promising to select an appropriate support because it not only enhances the utilization efficiency of noble metals but also improves mass transport under high ***,we supported amorphous IrO_(x)nanosheets onto the hollow TiO_(2)sphere(denoted as IrO_(x)),which demonstrated excellent performance in acidic electrolytic water ***,the annealed IrO_(x)catalyst at 150℃in air exhibited a mass activity of 1347.5 A·gIr^(−1),which is much higher than that of commercial IrO_(2)of 12.33 A·gIr^(−1)at the overpotential of 300 mV for oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Meanwhile,the annealed IrO_(x)exhibited good stability for 600 h operating at 10 mA·cm^(−2).Moreover,when using IrO_(x)and annealed IrO_(x)catalysts for water splitting,a cell voltage as low as 1.485 V can be achieved at 10 mA·cm^(−2).The cell can continuously operate for 200 h with negligible degradation of performance.

The location ofγ-ray emission of blazars remains a contested topic,inspiring the development of numerous investigative techniques to address this *** this work,we analyzed Fermiγ-ray light curves in the geV and MeV bands,employing the discrete cross-correlation function method to discern time lags between the two *** 4C+21.35,Ton 599,B21420+32,and PKS 1510-089,we identified a time lag spanning several days,while for PKS 1441+25,the time lag was not statistically *** results imply that the soft photons necessary for inverse Compton scattering predominantly originate from the dusty torus in the first four sources,whereas for PKS1441+25,they seem to be sourced mainly from the broad-line *** analysis of the opacity(τγγ)and the geV spectra study supports the conclusion that the location of the dissipation region must be beyond the BLR to avoid significant ***,for PKS 1441+25,the emission region is also posited to lie outside yet proximate to the *** parameters of describing the emission region were obtained by fitting broadband spectral energy distribution with contemporaneous observation *** findings suggest that for the five TeV FSRQs,during Te V flaring events,the jet appears to maintain an equilibrium between the energy density of the magnetic field and that of the particles for all investigated sources,with the exceptions of 4C+21.35 and PKS1441+*** terms of the overall jet power,particle energy is the dominant contributor,and the observed blazar radiation cannot be solely attributed to the magnetic field,except in the case of 4C+***,magnetic reconnection is unlikely to be the primary mechanism behind particle acceleration in these systems.

The quantum anomalous Hall effect（QAHE） has unique advantages in topotronic applications, but it is still challenging to realize the QAHE with tunable magnetic and topological properties for building functional devices. Through systematic first-principles calculations, we predict that the in-plane magnetization induced QAHE with Chern numbers C = ±1 and the out-of-plane magnetization induced QAHE with high Chern numbers C = ±3 can be realized in a single material candidate, which is composed of van der Waals（vdW）coupled Bi and MnBi2Te4monolayers. The switching between different phases of QAHE can be controlled in multiple ways, such as applying strain or（weak） magnetic field or twisting the vdW materials. The prediction of an experimentally available material system hosting robust, highly tunable QAHE will stimulate great research interest in the field. Our work opens a new avenue for the realization of tunable QAHE and provides a practical material platform for the development of topological electronics.

Carbonbased aerogels derived from biomass chitosan are encountering a flourishing moment in electromagnetic protection on account of lightweight,controllable fabrication and ***,developing a facile construction method of component design with carbon-based aerogels for high-efficiency electromagnetic wave absorption(EWA)materials with a broad effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)and strong absorption yet hits some ***,the nitrogen-doped magnetic-dielectric-carbon aerogel was obtained via ice template method followed by carbonization treatment,homogeneous and abundant nickel(Ni)and manganese oxide(MnO)particles in situ grew on the carbon *** to the optimization of impedance matching of dielectric/magnetic components to carbon aerogels,the nitrogen-doped magnetic-dielectric-carbon aerogel(Ni/MnO-CA)suggests a praiseworthy EWA performance,with an ultra-wide EAB of 7.36 GHz and a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)of−64.09 dB,while achieving a specific reflection loss of−253.32 dB mm−***,the aerogel reveals excellent radar stealth,infrared stealth,and thermal management ***,the high-performance,easy fabricated and multifunctional nickel/manganese oxide/carbon aerogels have broad application aspects for electromagnetic protection,electronic devices and aerospace.

Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)have garnered significant attention in the fields of science,engineering,and medicine due to their numerous *** initial step towards harnessing the potential of CNTs involves their macroscopic *** present study employed a gentle and direct self-assembly technique,wherein controlled growth of CNT sheaths occurred on the metal wire’s surface,followed by etching of the remaining metal to obtain the hollow tubes composed of *** controlling the growth time and temperature,it is possible to alter the thickness of the CNTs *** immersing in a solution containing 1 g/L of CNTs at 60℃for 24 h,the resulting CNTs layer achieved a thickness of up to 60μ*** hollow CNTs tubes with varying inner diameters were prepared through surface reinforcement using polymers and sacrificing metal wires,thereby exhibiting exceptional attributes such as robustness,flexibility,air tightness,and high adsorption capacity that effectively capture CO_(2) from the gas mixture.

geochemical fractionation and potential release behaviour of heavy metals in lead–zinc smelting soils

The lack of understanding of heavy metal speciation and solubility control mechanisms in smelting soils limits the effective pollution *** this study smelting soils were investigated by an advanced mineralogical analysis(AMICS),leaching tests and thermodynamic *** aims were to identify the partitioning and release behaviour of Pb,Zn,Cd and *** integration of multiple techniques was necessary and displayed coherent *** addition to the residual fraction,Pb and Zn were predominantly associated with reducible fractions,and As primarily existed as the crystalline iron oxide-bound *** quantitative analysis further confirmed that Fe oxyhydroxides were the common dominant phase for As,Cd,Pb and *** addition,a metal arsenate(paulmooreite)was an important mineral host for Pb and *** pH-stat leaching indicted that the release of Pb,Zn and Cd increased towards low pH values while release of As increased towards high p H *** separate leaching schemes were associated with the geochemical behaviour under the control of minerals and were confirmed by thermodynamic *** calculations suggested that the formation of arsenate minerals(schultenite,mimetite and koritnigite)and the binding to Fe oxyhydroxides synchronously controlled the release of Pb,Zn,Cd and *** results emphasized the governing role of Fe oxyhydroxides and secondary insoluble minerals in natural attenuation of heavy metals,which provides a novelty strategy for the stabilization of multi-metals in smelting sites.
