Purpose:Early application of protease inhibitors through the intestinal lumen could increase survival following experimental shock by blocking the pancreatic digestive enzymes. Hence, it was hypothesized that two-route injection (intraintestinal +intravenous) of ulinastatin (UTI), a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor, could better alleviate intestinal injury than single-route injection (either intravenous or intraintestinal).Methods:A sepsis model induced by lipopolysaccharide on rats was established. The rats were randomly divided into five groups: sham, sepsis, UTI intravenous injection (Uiv), UTI intraintestinal injection (Uii), and UTI intraintestinal +intravenous injection (Uii +Uiv) groups. The mucosal barrier function, enzyme-blocking effect, levels of systemic inflammatory cytokines, and 5-day survival rate were compared among groups. The small intestinal villus height (VH), crypt depth (CD), and two components of mucosal barrier (E-cadherin and mucin-2) were measured to evaluate the mucosal barrier function. The levels of trypsin and neutrophil elastase (NE) in the intestine, serum, and vital organs were measured to determine the enzyme-blocking ***:Compared with the single-route injection group (Uiv or Uii), the two-route injection (Uii +Uiv) group displayed: (1) significantly higher levels of VH, VH/CD, E-cadherin, and mucin-2;(2) decreased trypsin and NE levels in intestine, plasma, and vital organs;(3) reduced systemic inflammatory cytokine levels;and (4) improved survival of septic ***:Two-route UTI injection was superior to single-route injection in terms of alleviating intestinal injury, which might be explained by extensive blockade of proteases through different ways.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of processing parameters and subsequent heat treatments on the microstructures and bonding strengths of Ti-6Al-4V/AA1050 laminations formed via a non-equal channel lateral co-extrusion *** microstructural evolution and growth mechanism in the diffusion layer were discussed further to optimize the bonding quality by appropriately adjusting process *** electron microscopes(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS),and X-ray diffraction(XRD)were used to characterize interfacial diffusion *** shear test was used to determine the mechanical properties of the interfacial diffusion *** experimental results indicate that it is possible to co-extrusion Ti-6Al-4V/AA1050 compound profiles using non-equal channel lateral *** heat treatment processes affect the thickness of the diffusion *** the temperature and time of heat treatment increase,the thickness of the reaction layers increases ***,the shear strength of the Ti-6Al-4V/AA1050 composite interface is proportional to the diffusion layer *** is observed that a medium interface thickness results in superior mechanical performance when compared to neither a greater nor a lesser interface *** characterization of all heat treatments reveals that the only intermetallic compound observed in the diffusion layers is TiAl_(3).Due to the inter-diffusion of Ti and Al atoms,the TiAl_(3) layer grows primarily at AA1050/TiAl_(3) interfaces.

As a new addition to lightweight composite structures,the sandwich cylindrical shell with a metallic wire mesh core has emerged as a promising solution for thermodynamic performance analysis at elevated *** intricate interwoven cellular formations within the metallic wire mesh pose difficulties for thermo-mechanical modeling and property ***,the constitutive models employed to characterize hysteresis phenomena were presented,comprising isotropic elasticity,Bergstrom-Boyce model,Ogden hyper-elasticity,and parameter identification through mechanical examinations at varying ***,the finite element modeling of cylindrical shell structures was determined for modal and steady-state dynamic ***,the experimental procedures were carried out,including the preparation of the sandwich cylindrical shell and the dynamic testing *** first-order natural frequency of the cylindrical shell structure is close to the resonance frequency of the dynamic test results,with a maximum error of 6.5%,demonstrating the accuracy of the simulation *** compared to the solid-core cylindrical shell,the average insertion loss of the sandwich cylindrical shell structure within the frequency range of 10–1000 Hz at room temperature is up to 11.09 ***,at elevated temperatures,the average insertion loss of the sandwich cylindrical shell decreases but fluctuates as the temperature changes.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has affected over twenty million people worldwide since its outbreak,[1]in which approximately 19%are expected to progress to severe or critical disease,constituting the high-risk group for death.[2]The reported case-fatality rates among the severe COVID-19 varied a lot across different regions from zero to 61.5%[1,3]and the reason behind remained *** limited data concerning management of severe cases were reported from low case-fatality *** this study,we described the clinical features,multi-strategy management,and respiratory support resources usage for the severe COVID-19 in Sichuan province,where the 28-day case-fatality rate was 0.6%in all patients and 3.7%in severe cases,which was much lower compared with that reported in most of the studies worldwide.

Cancer patients are at high risk of malnutrition,which can lead to adverse health outcomes such as prolonged hospitalization,increased complications,and increased *** and timely nutritional assessment plays a critical role in effectively managing malnutrition in these ***,while many tools exist to assess malnutrition,there is no universally accepted *** different tools have their own strengths and limitations,there is a lack of narrative reviews on nutritional assessment tools for cancer *** address this knowledge gap,we conducted a non-systematic literature search using PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library from their inception until May 2023.A total of 90 studies met our selection criteria and were included in our narrative *** evaluated the applications,strengths,and limitations of 4 commonly used nutritional assessment tools for cancer patients:the Subjective Global Assessment(SGA),Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment(PG-SGA),Mini Nutritional Assessment(MNA),and Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition(GLIM).Our findings revealed that malnutrition was associated with adverse health *** of these 4 tools has its applications,strengths,and *** findings provide medical staff with a foundation for choosing the optimal tool to rapidly and accurately assess malnutrition in cancer *** is essential for medical staff to be familiar with these common tools to ensure effective nutritional management of cancer patients.
