Titanium dioxide（TiO2） is one of the most widely studied transition metal oxides, especially for its unique performances in heterogeneous photocatalysis. Different phases of TiO2 have been found to exhibit different photo-activities, though the origins are still not fully understood. In this work, we use the density functional theory（DFT） calculations, corrected by on-site Coulomb and long-range dispersion interactions, to study the adsorptions of nitric oxide（NO） and oxygen（O2） molecules on the clean and hydrogenated anatase TiO2（101） surfaces. We also compare the detailed calculated results regarding their structural, energetic and electronic properties with those obtained at rutile TiO2（110）. It has been found that the behaviors of the surface localized electrons being transferred from adsorbed H, as well as the adsorption behaviors of NO and O2 are quite different at the two surfaces, which can be attributed to their characteristic local bonding structures around the surface hydroxyl. These results may also help explain the different photocatalytic activities of these two main facets of anatase and rutile TiO2

During the past decade,research efforts have been gradually directed to the widely existing yet less noticed multimodal multi-objective optimization problems(MMOPs)in the multi-objective optimization ***,researchers have begun to investigate enhancing the decision space diversity and preserving valuable dominated solutions to overcome the shortage caused by a preference for objective space ***,many existing methods still have limitations,such as giving unduly high priorities to convergence and insufficient ability to enhance decision space *** overcome these shortcomings,this article aims to explore a promising region(PR)and enhance the decision space diversity for handling *** traditional methods,we propose the use of non-dominated solutions to determine a limited region in the PR in the decision space,where the Pareto sets(PSs)are included,and explore this region to assist in solving ***,we develop a novel neighbor distance measure that is more suitable for the complex geometry of PSs in the decision space than the crowding *** on the above methods,we propose a novel dual-population-based coevolutionary *** studies on three benchmark test suites demonstrates that our proposed methods can achieve promising performance and versatility on different *** effectiveness of the proposed neighbor distance has also been justified through comparisons with crowding distance methods.

Impact flash occurs when objects collide at supersonic speeds and can be used for real-time damage assessment when weapons rely on kinetic energy to destroy ***,the mechanism of impact flash remains unclear.A series of impact flash experiments of flat-head long-rod projectiles impacting thin target plates were performed with a two-stage light gas *** impact flash spectra for 6061 aluminum at 1.3e3.2 km/s collision speeds were recorded with a high-speed camera,a photoelectric sensor,and a time-resolved *** intensity of the impact flash exhibited a pulse characteristic with *** intensity(I)increased with impact velocity(V0)according to IfVn 0,where n?4.41 for V0>2 km/***,for V02 km/s,a continuous spectrum(thermal radiation background)was observed and increased in intensity with ***,for V0<2 km/s,only atomic line spectra were *** was no aluminum spectral lines for V0<2 km/s,which indicated that it had not been *** initial intense flash was emission from excited and ionized ambient gases near the impact surface,and had little relationship with shock temperature rise,indicating a new mechanism of impact flash.

Arsenic from environmental contamination is a risk factor for kidney disease,and the clinical use of arsenic also triggers a new concern that the potential kidney damage caused by exposure to clinical doses of arse nic trivale *** far,the un dergoi ng mecha nisms con tributi ng to arse nic n ephrotoxicity mostly remain unclear,and universally accepted methods for preventing this complication are limited *** Chinese medical scientists recognized the toxicity of arsenic long ago,and there were some records of Chinese herbs against arsenic poisoning in ancient books of Chinese *** the past decade,several herbal formulations,as well as some potentially active compounds extracted from Chinese herbs,have been employed to prevent arsenic nephrotoxicity both in vivo and in vitro and showed better therapeutic *** present paper thus summarizes and discusses these Chinese medicine methods in preventing such a public health *** addition,we call for large,well-desig ned,randomized,and controlled clinical trials to be performed to further assess the efficacy and safety of these potential methods of Chinese medicine against arsenic nephrotoxicity.

Consider all the arithmetic progressions of odd numbers, no term of which is of the form 2^k ＋ p, where k is a positive integer and p is an odd prime. ErdSs ever asked whether all these progressions can be obtained from covering congruences. In this paper, we characterize all arithmetic progressions in which there are positive proportion natural numbers that can be expressed in the form 2^k ＋ p, and give a quantitative form of Romanoff＇s theorem on arithmetic progressions. As a corollary, we prove that the answer to the above Erdos problem is affirmative.

The Large sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope（LAMOST） general survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects in both the pilot survey and the first year regular survey are included in the LAMOST DR1. The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The regular survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2 955 336 spectra, of which 1 790 879 spectra have observed signalto-noise ratio（SNR） ≥ 10. All data with SNR ≥ 2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2 204 696 spectra, of which 1 944 329 are stellar spectra, 12 082 are galaxy spectra and 5017 are quasars. The DR1 not only includes spectra, but also three stellar catalogs with measured parameters： late A,FGK-type stars with high quality spectra（1 061 918 entries）, A-type stars（100 073 entries）, and M-type stars（121 522 entries）. This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. A description of the FITS structure of spectral files and parameter catalogs is also provided.

The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST, also called the Guo Shou Jing Telescope) is a special reflecting Schmidt telescope. LAMOST’s special design allows both a large aperture (effective aperture of 3.6 m–4.9 m) and a wide field of view (FOV) (5°). It has an innovative active reflecting Schmidt configuration which continuously changes the mirror’s surface that adjusts during the observation process and combines thin deformable mirror active optics with segmented active optics. Its primary mirror (6.67m×6.05 m) and active Schmidt mirror (5.74m×4.40 m) are both segmented, and composed of 37 and 24 hexagonal sub-mirrors respectively. By using a parallel controllable fiber positioning technique, the focal surface of 1.75 m in diameter can accommodate 4000 optical fibers. Also, LAMOST has 16 spectrographs with 32 CCD cameras. LAMOST will be the telescope with the highest rate of spectral acquisition. As a national large scientific project, the LAMOST project was formally proposed in 1996, and approved by the Chinese government in 1997. The construction started in 2001, was completed in 2008 and passed the official acceptance in June 2009. The LAMOST pilot survey was started in October 2011 and the spectroscopic survey will launch in September 2012. Up to now, LAMOST has released more than 480 000 spectra of objects. LAMOST will make an important contribution to the study of the large-scale structure of the Universe, structure and evolution of the Galaxy, and cross-identification of multiwaveband properties in celestial objects.

Formation and Characterization of ZrO3 and HfO3 Molecules in Solid Argon

ZrO3 and HfO3 molecules were prepared via reactions of metal monoxides with dioxygen in solid argon and were characterized using matrix isolation infrared absorption spectroscopy as well as theoretical calculations. Unlike the titanium monoxide molecule, which reacted spontaneously with dioxygen to form TiO3, the ZrO and HfO molecules reacted with dioxygen to give the ZrO3 and HfO3 molecules only under visible light irradiation. Density functional calculations predicted that both the ZrO3 and HfO3 molecules possess a closed-shell singlet ground state with a non-planar C8 geometry, in which the side-on coordinated O2 falls into the peroxide category.
