Boosting C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) separation via the precise electrostatic modulation of synthetic 1D channel at atomic level

The regulation of gas sorption via simple pore modification is crucial to molecular recognition and chemical ***,a rational pore surface electrostatic modulation in synthetic one dimensioned(1-D)channel is demonstrated to boost ethane/ethylene(C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4))selectivity for one-step extraction of C_(2)H_(4) from C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) *** the precise modulation of the surface charge arrangement with negatively charged moieties in the 1-D channel of a metal—organic framework(MOF),enhanced C_(2)H_(6)—host framework and decreased C_(2)H_(4)—host framework electrostatic interactions were obtained,which resulted in an obvious improvement in adsorption ***,the breakthrough separation performance rendered the obtained MOF an efficient adsorbent for C_(2)H_(4) purification from C_(2)H_(6)/C_(2)H_(4) *** combined detail theoretical studies prove that the gas sorption selectivity is remarkably sensitive to framework electrostatic change even in the case of pore surface modification at the atomic *** results are of fundamental importance to the design of porous materials for challenging separation tasks.

Modified Pulsatilla decoction alleviates 5-fluorouracil-induced intestinal mucositis by modulating the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway and gut microbiota

BACKGROUND Modified Pulsatilla decoction(PD),a PD with licorice and ejiao,is a classic Traditional Chinese Medicine formula with significant efficacy in treating intestinal mucositis(IM)induced by tumor ***,its specific molecular and biological mechanisms remain *** To investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of modified PD in *** This study used an IM mouse model established using 5-fluorouracil injections to investigate the effects of the modified PD(3,6,and 12 g/kg)in *** primary chemical components of the modified PD were identified using liquid chromatography-mass *** weight loss,diarrhea scores,intestinal length,histopathological scores,and inflammatory cytokine levels were measured to evaluate the effects of the modified PD in *** on the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway were evaluated using western blot *** intestinal microbiota was characterized using Illumina NovaSeq *** The results showed that modified PD significantly improved weight loss and diarrhea and shortened the intestines in IM ***,modified PD suppressed the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB pathway and downregulated the expression of reactive oxygen species,lipopolysaccharides,and pro-inflammatory cytokines(IL-1β,TNF-α,IFN-γ,IL-6,IL-8,and IL-17),while increasing the expression of the anti-inflammatory cytokine ***,modified PD protected the intestinal mucosal barrier by increasing the expression of tight junction proteins(occludin-1,claudin-1,and ZO-1)and ***,16S rDNA sequencing revealed that modified PD improved intestinal *** Our research offers new insights into the potential mechanism of modified PD in alleviating IM and provides experimental evidence supporting its pharmaceutical application in clinical IM treatment.

Improved particle tracking velocimetry based on level set segmentation for measuring the velocity field of granular flow

Using traditional particle tracking velocimetry based on optical flow for measuring areas with large velocity gradient changes may cause oversmoothing,resulting in significant measurement *** address this problem,the traditional particle tracking velocimetry method based on an optical flow was *** level set segmentation algorithm was used to obtain the boundary contour of the region with large velocity gradient changes,and the non-uniform flow field was divided into regions according to the boundary contour to obtain sub-regions with uniform velocity *** particle tracking velocimetry method based on optical flow was used to measure the granular flow velocity in each sub-region,thus avoiding the problem of granular flow *** simulation results show that the measurement accuracy of this method is approximately 10%higher than that of traditional *** method was applied to a velocity measurement experiment on dense granular flow in silos,and the velocity distribution of the granular flow was obtained,verifying the practicality of the method in granular flow fields.

Study on the hydrogen absorption properties of a YGdTbDyHo rare-earth high-entropy alloy

This study investigated the microstructure and hydrogen absorption properties of a rare-earth high-entropy alloy(HEA),*** indicated that the YGdTbDyHo alloy had a microstructure of equiaxed grains,with the alloy elements distributed *** hydrogen absorption,the phase structure of the HEA changed from a solid solution with an hexagonal-close-packed(HCP)structure to a high-entropy hydride with an faced-centered-cubic(FCC)structure without any secondary phase *** alloy demonstrated a maximum hydrogen storage capacity of 2.33 H/M(hydrogen atom/metal atom)at 723 K,with an enthalpy change(ΔH)of-141.09 kJ·mol^(-1)and an entropy change(ΔS)of-119.14 J·mol^(-1)·K^(-1).The kinetic mechanism of hydrogen absorption was hydride nucleation and growth,with an apparent activation energy(E_(a))of 20.90 kJ·mol^(-1).Without any activation,the YGdTbDyHo alloy could absorb hydrogen quickly(180 s at 923 K)with nearly no incubation period *** reason for the obtained value of 2.33 H/M was that the hydrogen atoms occupied both tetrahedral and octahedral *** results demonstrate the potential application of HEAs as a high-capacity hydrogen storage material with a large H/M ratio,which can be used in the deuterium storage field.

AlO2: A novel two-dimensional material with a high negative Poisson's ratio for the adsorption of volatile organic compounds

We propose and investigate a novel stable two-dimensional（2D） AlO2with anomalous stoichiometric ratios based on first-principles calculation. 2D AlO2has metallic properties. It possesses the rare in-plane and out-of-plane negative Poisson's ratio（NPR） phenomenon, originating from its special sawtooth-like structure. The absolute value of the NPR decreases as the number of layers increases. The adsorption of volatile organic compounds（VOCs） including CH2O, C2H3Cl and C6H6by AlO2exhibit small adsorption distance, large adsorption energy, large charge transfer and significant density of states（DOS） changes,indicating the presence of strong interactions. The desorption time of each gas molecule on the AlO2surface is also evaluated, and the results further suggest that the desorption of VOCs can be controlled by changing the temperature to achieve the recycling of AlO2. These interesting properties make 2D AlO2a promising material for electronic, mechanical and sensing applications for VOCs.

Although poly(lactic acid)(PLA)is a good environmentally-friendly bio-degradable polymer which is used to substitute traditional petrochemical-based polymer packaging films,the barrier properties of PLA films are still insufficient for high-barrier packaging *** this study,oxygen scavenger hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)and cobalt salt catalyst were incorporated into the PLA/poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PLA/PBAT),followed by melting extrusion and three-layer co-extrusion blown film process to prepare the composite *** oxygen permeability coefficient of the composite film combined with 6 wt%oxygen scavenger and 0.4 wt%catalyst was decreased significantly from 377.00 cc·mil·m^(-2)·day^(-1)·0.1 MPa^(-1) to 0.98 cc·mil·m^(-2)·day^(-1)·0.1 MPa^(-1),showing a remarkable enhancement of 384.69 times compared with the PLA/PBAT composite ***,the degradation behavior of the composite film was also accelerated,exhibiting a mass loss of nearly 60%of the original mass after seven days of degradation in an alkaline environment,whereas PLA/PBAT composite film only showed a mass loss of 32%.This work has successfully prepared PLA/PBAT composite films with simultaneously improved oxygen barrier property and degradation behavior,which has great potential for high-demanding green chemistry packaging industries,including food,agricultural,and military packaging.

Due to their resistance to degradation,wide distribution,easy diffusion and potential uptake by organisms,microplastics(MPs)pollution has become a major environmental *** this study,PEG-modified Fe_(3)O_(4)magnetic nanoparticles demonstrated superior adsorption efficiency against polyethylene(PE)microspheres compared to other adsorbents(bare Fe_(3)O_(4),PEI/Fe_(3)O_(4)and CA/Fe_(3)O_(4)).Themaximumadsorption capacity of PEwas found to be 2203 mg/g by adsorption isotherm ***/Fe_(3)O_(4)maintained a high adsorption capacity even at low temperature(5℃,2163 mg/g),while neutral pH was favorable for MP *** presence of anions(Cl^(-),SO_(4)^(2-),HCO_(3)^(-),NO_(3)^(-))and of humic acids inhibited the adsorption of *** is proposed that the adsorption process was mainly driven by intermolecular hydrogen ***,the study demonstrated that PEG/Fe_(3)O_(4)can potentially be used as an efficient control against MPs,thus improving the quality of the aquatic environment and of our water resources.

Metal-organic frameworks with dinuclear metal centers for synergistically boosting CO_(2) photoreduction

Dinuclear metal synergistic catalysis(DMSC)has been proved powerful in boosting CO_(2)reduction,while this has not been achieved in heterogeneous catalysts with long-range order *** this study,we,by introduction of metal catalytic centers into an indium-based metal-organic framework(MOF),obtained a series of isostructural In-MOFs,including three MOFs with mononuclear metal catalytic center(M-In),three MOFs with dinuclear homometallic catalytic centers(MM-In),and three MOFs with dinuclear heterometallic catalytic centers(MM’-In,M/M’=Co(II),Ni(II),Zn(II)).It was found that all these MOFs can serve as catalysts for photochemical CO_(2)reduction to *** with M-In,the catalytic activities of MM-In were obviously enhanced,and that of MM’-In was further significantly *** example,the CO yield of Co Zn-In reaches a record value of 12,700μmol g^(-1)h^(-1),which is 4.0,8.1,9.4,and 18.6-fold higher than that of Co Co-In,Zn Zn-In,Co-In,and Zn-In,***,the catalytic activities of Co Ni-In and Ni Zn-In also show different fold increase than those of corresponding dinuclear homometallic and mononuclear metallic *** results of control experiments and theoretical calculation reveal that the higher catalytic activities of MM-In over M-In can be ascribed to the DMSC effect,and the higher catalytic activity of MM’-In over MM-In can be ascribed to the strengthened DMSC *** work reveals the relationship between DMSC effect and bimetal centers in CO_(2)reduction,which provides new insights into the DMSC and paves a new way to design highly active catalysts for photochemical CO_(2)reduction.
