Non-uniform deformation of the dielectric subjected to external forces can induce the flexoelectric effect, a phenomenon that couples electrical polarization to strain gradients. However, limited by the size effects, flexoelectricity is not significant at the macroscale and only becomes catchable at the microscale and nanoscale. In recent work, we obtained a considerable flexoelectric-like response by crumpling the dielectric embedded with charges, i.e., the electret, which significantly improved the flexoelectric effect at the macroscale. In this work, we further optimize the macroscopic performance of the flexoelectric response by applying gradient treatment to the electret films. Specifically, we analytically derive the electromechanical coupling of crumpled electret films with gradients of different thicknesses, charge densities, and Young’s moduli as key design variables. It is shown that the gradient-oriented electret film can be tuned to nearly five times that of a uniform electret film.

Fast-charging and low temperature operation are of vital importance for the further development of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),which is hindered by the utilization of conventional carbonate-based electrolytes due to their slow kinetics,narrow operating temperature and voltage ***,an acetonitrile(AN)-based localized high-concentration electrolyte(LHCE)is proposed to retain liquid state and high ionic conductivity at ultra-low temperatures while possessing high oxidation *** originally reveal the excellent thermal shielding effect of non-solvating diluent to prevent the aggregation of Li^(+) solvates as temperature drops,maintaining the merits of fast Li transport and facile desolvation as at room temperature,which bestows the graphite electrode with remarkable low temperature performance(264 ma h g^(-1) at-20 C).Remarkably,an extremely high capacity retention of 97%is achieved for high-voltage high-energy graphite||NCM batteries after 250 cycles at-20 C,and a high capacity of 110 ma h g^(-1)(71%of its room-temperature capacity)is retained at-30°*** study unveils the key role of the non-solvating diluents and provides instructive guidance in designing electrolytes towards fast-charging and low temperature LIBs.

Human dental pulp stem cell transplantation has been shown to be an effective therapeutic strategy for spinal cord ***,whether the human dental pulp stem cell secretome can contribute to functional recovery after spinal cord injury remains *** the present study,we established a rat model of spinal cord injury based on impact injury from a dropped weight and then intraperitoneally injected the rats with conditioned medium from human dental pulp stem *** found that the conditioned medium effectively promoted the recovery of sensory and motor functions in rats with spinal cord injury,decreased expression of the microglial pyroptosis markers NLRP3,GSDMD,caspase-1,and interleukin-1β,promoted axonal and myelin regeneration,and inhibited the formation of glial *** addition,in a lipopolysaccharide-induced BV2 microglia model,conditioned medium from human dental pulp stem cells protected cells from pyroptosis by inhibiting the NLRP3/caspase-1/interleukin-1β*** results indicate that conditioned medium from human dental pulp stem cells can reduce microglial pyroptosis by inhibiting the NLRP3/caspase-1/interleukin-1βpathway,thereby promoting the recovery of neurological function after spinal cord ***,conditioned medium from human dental pulp stem cells may become an alternative therapy for spinal cord injury.

Land application of anaerobic digestion(AD)effluent as a fertilizer is desirable for nutrient recycling,but often supplies excess phosphorus(P),which contributes to surface water *** the P content in AD effluent filtrate using calcium(Ca)treatment prior to land application is a potential strategy for improving effluent disposal and meeting the discharge *** study took flue gas desulphurization(FGD)gypsum,a by-product of coal-fired power plants,as a low-cost Ca source,and combined with traditional phosphorus removal agents to achieve high phosphorus removal efficiency with less chemical *** the results showed,FGD gypsum dosages of 20 mmol/L Ca(3.44 g/L)and 40 mmol/L Ca(6.89 g/L)removed up to 97.1%of soluble P(initially 102.8 mg/L)within 60-90 *** FGD gypsum treatment with traditional chemical treatments using calcium hydroxide[Ca(OH)2]or ferric chloride(FeCl3)could achieve>99%P removal with reduced chemical *** study demonstrated that FGD gypsum is an efficient calcium-based precipitant for phosphorus removal,offering a cost-effective and sustainable approach to enhance wastewater treatment practices and meet discharge standards in wastewater management.

AIM:To evaluate lacrimal gland adenoid cystic carcinoma(LGACC)of prognosis in patients who underwent different treatment ***:We searched PubMed,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library for studies done on the treatment of LGACC,between January 1987 and April 2022.A Metaanalysis was conducted to pool the 5-year overall survival rate(OR),and the 5-year recurrence rate(RR)and 5-year metastasis rate(MR)were ***:The 30 studies involved 585 patients were included in the *** pooled 5-year OR with surgery alone was 50%,the 5-year RR was 63%,and the 5-year MR was 34%.The pooled 5-year OR with surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy combined was 67%(95%CI 61%,73%),the 5-year RR was 41%,and the 5-year MR was 35%.The pooled 5-year OR with surgery and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy combined was 72%(95%CI 59%,84%),the 5-year RR was 48%,and the 5-year MR was 36%.The pooled 5-year OR with surgery,intra-arterial cytoreductive chemotherapy,and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy combined was 78%(95%CI 68%,89%),the 5-year RR was 15%,and the 5-year MR was 27%.CONCLUSION:Comprehensive treatment is more effective than surgery *** combined with intraarterial chemotherapy and adjuvant chemoradiotherapy seems to add value to the therapeutic effect of comprehensive treatment of LGACC but further high-quality research is required to validate this.

The biomedical co-continuous(β-TCP+MgO)/Zn-Mg composite was fabricated by infiltrating Zn-Mg alloy into porousβ-TCP+MgO using suction exsorption *** microstructure,mechanical properties and corrosion behaviors of the composite were evaluated by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),mechanical testing,electrochemical and immersion *** was found that the molten Zn-Mg alloy had infiltrated not only into the pores but also into the struts of the porousβ-TCP+MgO scaffold to form a compact *** Zn-Mg alloy contacted to theβ-TCP+MgO scaffold closely,and no reaction layer can be found between the alloy and the *** compressive strength of the composite was as high as244MPa,which was about1000times higher than that of the original porousβ-TCP+MgO scaffold and2/3of the strength of the Zn-Mg bulk *** electrochemical and immersion tests in simulated body fluid(SBF)solution indicated that the corrosion resistance of the composite was better than that of the Zn-Mg bulk *** corrosion products on the composite surface were mainly Zn(OH)*** mechanical and corrosion properties indicated that the(β-TCP+MgO)/Zn?Mg composite fabricated by suction exsorption would be a very promising candidate for bone substitute.
