Objective:To investigate the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of xuebijing Injection(XBJ)on the lung endothelial barrier in hydrogen sulfide(H2S)-induced acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).Methods:Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to H2S(300 ppm)to establish ARDS model,while human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells(HPMECs)were incubated with NaHS(a H2S donor,500μmol/L)to establish cell model.H2S and XBJ were concurrently administered to the rat and cell *** hematoxylin and eosin staining,immunohistochemistry,transmission electron microscopy and wet/dry ratio measurement were used to confirm ARDS induced by H2S in *** expression levels of claudin-5,phosphorylated protein kinase B(p-AKT)/t-AKT and p-forkhead box transcription factor O1(FoxO1)/t-FoxO1 in vivo and in vitro were also *** permeability and transepithelial electrical resistance(TEER)were measured to evaluate endothelial barrier function in the cell ***:The morphological investigation showed that XBJ attenuated H2S-induced ARDS in *** significantly ameliorated both the reduction in TEER and the increased paracellular permeability observed in NaHS-treated HPMECs(P<0.05).The protective effects of XBJ were blocked by LY294002,a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/AKT/FoxO1 pathway antagonist(P<0.05).Furthermore,XBJ promoted the expression of claudin-5 and increased the levels of p-AKT and p-FoxO1 in vivo and in vitro(P<0.05).Conclusion:XBJ ameliorated H2S-induced ARDS by promoting claudin-5 expression via the PI3K/AKT/FoxO1 signaling pathway.

Doping suppresses lattice distortion of vacant quadruple perovskites to activate self-trapped excitons emission

The vacancy-ordered quadruple perovskite Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12),as a newly-emerging lead-free perovskite system,has attracted great research interest due to its excellent stability and direct band ***,the poor luminescence performance limits its application in light-emitting diodes(LEDs)and other ***,for the first time,an Ag^(+)ion doping strategy was proposed to greatly improve the emission performance of Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12) synthesized by hydrothermal *** functional theory calculations combined with experimental results evidence that the weak orange emission from Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12) is attributed to the phonon scattering and energy level crossing due to the large lattice distortion under excited ***,Ag^(+)ion doping breaks the intrinsic crystal field environment of Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12),suppresses the crossover between ground and excited states,and reduces the energy loss in the form of nonradiative *** a critical doping amount of 0.8%,the emission intensity of Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12):Ag^(+)reaches the maximum,about eight times that of the pristine ***,the doped Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12) still maintains excellent stability against heat,ultraviolet irradiation,and environmental oxygen/*** above advantages make it possible for this material to be used as solid-state phosphors for white LEDs applications,and the Commission International de I’Eclairage color coordinates of(0.31,0.34)and high color rendering index of 90.6 were *** importantly,the white LED demonstrates remarkable operation stability in air ambient,showing almost no emission decay after a long working time for 48 *** believe that this study puts forward an effective ion-doping strategy for emission enhancement of vacancy-ordered quadruple perovskite Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12),highlighting its great potential as efficient emitter compatible for practical applications.

Design,scaling-up,and optimization of industrial reactors mainly depend on step-by-step experiments and engineering experience,which is usually time-consuming,high cost,and high *** numerical simulation can reproduce high resolution details of hydrodynamics,thermal transfer,and reaction process in reactors,it is still challenging for industrial reactors due to huge computational *** this study,by combining the numerical simulation and artificial intelligence(AI)technology of machine learning(ML),a method is proposed to efficiently predict and optimize the performance of industrial reactors.A gas–solid fluidization reactor for the methanol to olefins process is taken as an example.1500 cases under different conditions are simulated by the coarse-grain discrete particle method based on the Energy-Minimization Multi-Scale model,and thus,the reactor performance data set is *** develop an efficient reactor performance prediction model influenced by multiple factors,the ML method is established including the ensemble learning strategy and automatic hyperparameter optimization technique,which has better performance than the methods based on the artificial neural ***,the operating conditions for highest yield of ethylene and propylene or lowest pressure drop are searched with the particle swarm optimization algorithm due to its strength to solve non-linear optimization *** show that decreasing the methanol inflow rate and increasing the catalyst inventory can maximize the yield,while decreasing methanol the inflow rate and reducing the catalyst inventory can minimize the pressure *** two objectives are thus conflicting,and the practical operations need to be compromised under different circumstance.

3D coarse-grained DPM simulation of the MIP reaction-regeneration loop

The reactor-regenerator loop is the core facility of the maximizing iso-paraffin(MIP)*** the discrete particle method(DPM)simulation can provide detailed information at the particle scale,it has been unable to simulate such a complex loop system due to limitations of coarse-grained(CG)models,computing software,and *** this study,a newly proposed soft-shell CG-DPM model with a CG ratio of up to 800 is used to simulate a 3.5 Mt/a industrial-scale MIP reactor-regenerator *** solid fraction distribution obtained is found to agree well with in-situ *** properties including the distribution of solid fraction,gas and solid velocity,standard derivation of solid fraction with time,temporal distribution of the flow field,and particle residence time distribution are measured in the simulation,which are meaningful to better design and operate such systems in the future.

Melatonin and dopamine alleviate waterlogging stress in apples by recruiting beneficial endophytes to enhance physiological resilience

Melatonin and dopamine can potentially prevent waterlogging stress in *** current study investigated the mechanism by which melatonin and dopamine alleviate apple waterlogging *** study demonstrated that melatonin and dopamine alleviated waterlogging by removing reactive oxygen species(ROS),and that the nitric oxide(NO)content and nitrate reductase(NR)activity were significantly *** and dopamine were also found to recruit different candidate beneficial endophytes(melatonin:Novosphingobium,Propionivibrio,and Cellvibrio;dopamine:Hydrogenophaga,Simplicispira,Methyloversatilis,Candidatus_Kaiserbacteria,and Humicola),and these endophytes were significantly and positively correlated with plant *** analyses showed that melatonin and dopamine significantly affected the endophytic bacterial and fungal communities under waterlogging *** metabolomic results showed that melatonin and dopamine led to waterlogging resistance by upregulating the abundance of beneficial substances such as amino acids,flavonoids,coumarins,and organic *** addition,melatonin and dopamine regulated the physicochemical properties of the soil,which altered the endophyte community and affected plant *** co-occurrence network demonstrated close and complex relationships among endophytes,metabolites,soil,and the *** results demonstrate that melatonin and dopamine alleviate waterlogging stress in apples by recruiting beneficial endophytes to enhance physiological *** study provides new insights into how melatonin and dopamine alleviate stress and a theoretical basis for synergistic beneficial microbial resistance to waterlogging stress.

Effects of cooling rate on microstructure and microhardness of directionally solidified Galvalume alloy

The influences of cooling rate on the phase constitution,microstructural length scale,and microhardness of directionally solidified Galvalume(Zn-55Al-1.6Si)alloy were investigated by directional solidification experiments at different withdrawal speeds(5,10,20,50,100,200,and 400μm·s^(-1)).The results show that the microstructure of directionally solidified Galvalume alloys is composed of primary Al dendrites,Si-rich phase and(Zn-Al-Si)ternary eutectics at the withdrawal speed ranging from 5 to 400μm·s^(-1).As the withdrawal speed increases,the segregation of Si element intensifies,resulting in an increase in the area fraction of the Si-rich *** addition,the primary Al dendrites show significant refinement with an increase in the withdrawal *** relationship between the primary dendrite arm spacing(λ_(1))and the thermal parameters of solidification is obtained:λ_(1)=127.3V^(-0.31).Moreover,as the withdrawal speed increases from 5 to 400μm·s^(-1),the microhardness of the alloy increases from 90 HV to 151 *** is a combined effect of grain refinement and second-phase strengthening.

A novel low molecular weight compound polysaccharides from Chinese herbal medicines: purification， characterization and anti-tumor activities in vitro and in vivo

A novel low molecular weight polysaccharide (LMW-CPS) was identified from a specific combination of Chinese herb ingredients. The monosaccharide composition of LMW-CPS was consisted of single arabinose， which had an α-L-furanose configuration with an average molecular weight of 2.06 kDa. NMR spectra and monosaccharide constitution analyses revealed that it had a backbone of →5)-α-L-Araf-(1→ with α-L-Araf-(1→ as the terminal residue. In vitro experiments found that it could lead to apoptosis and inhibit hepatocellular carcinoma cell proliferation by arresting them in the S phase. In vivo experiments showed that it protected immune organs such as the thymus and spleen， enhanced immune cell activities， stimulated cytokine release， augmented the abundance of CD8， CD3， CD4， and CD19 positive lymphocytes， and markedly impeded solid hepatocellular carcinoma progression in mice. H&E staining and cell cycle examination also indicated that LMW-CPS arrested hepatocellular carcinoma cells at the S phase to induce apoptosis. These findings indicated its promising potential for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Catalytically generated noncovalent ammonium dienolate:a versatile platform for the development of organocatalytic asymmetric cascade reactions

Organocatalytic cascade reactions represent a powerful strategy for the rapid construction of complex chiral molecules with multiple stereocenters from simple substrates under mild conditions. The intriguing structural feature and diverse reactivity of catalytically generated dienolate species render them competent and versatile intermediates for the development of practical and valuable cascade reactions. Over the past years, a plethora of innovative and pioneering noncovalent ammonium dienolatemediated cascade reactions have been designed and implemented under the catalysis of chiral organocatalysts, making dienolate activation a general, robust, and complementary method for the functionalization of unsaturated carbonyl compounds and related substances. This review illustrates the recent advances in organocatalytic noncovalent ammonium dienolate-mediated cascade reactions(mainly from 2010 to 2023), including the cascade transformations of ammonium dienolates directly generated from unsaturated ketone/aldehyde, ester/lactone/azlactone, amide/lactam/pyrazolone/oxindole, and alkylidene nitrile compounds. The contents are arranged based on the reaction types of the ammonium dienolates, with an emphasis on cascade 2,5-, 3,5-, and 4,5-difunctionalizations of these intermediates. Furthermore, other cascade reactions involving the 1,3-, 2,3-, and even more complex 3,4,5-reactivities of ammonium dienolates were also discussed. The reaction pathway, reaction stereoinduction, and synthetic applications of the ammonium dienolate-mediated cascade reactions were highlighted throughout the article. As a stimulating and ever-growing research area, the organocatalytic noncovalent ammonium dienolate-mediated cascade reactions are expected to continue demonstrating their magic power for constructing chiral targets in the future and further expanding the boundaries of asymmetric catalysis.

Cyclic Beam Direction of Arrival Estimation Method for Ship Propeller Noise

In underwater acoustic applications,the conventional cyclic direction of arrival algorithm faces challenges,including a low signal-to-noise ratio and high bandwidth when compared with modulated *** response to these issues,this paper introduces a novel,robust,and broadband cyclic beamforming *** proposed method substitutes the conventional cyclic covariance matrix with the variance of the cyclic covariance matrix as its primary *** that the same frequency band shares a common steering vector,the new algorithm achieves superior detection performance for targets with specific modulation frequencies while suppressing interference signals and background *** results demonstrate a significant enhancement in the directibity index by 81%and 181%when compared with the traditional Capon beamforming algorithm and the traditional extended wideband spectral cyclic MUSIC(EWSCM)algorithm,***,the proposed algorithm substantially reduces computational complexity to 1/40th of that of the EWSCM algorithm,employing frequency band statistical averaging and covariance matrix variance.
