Influence of clinical characteristics and tumor size on symptoms of bladder leiomyoma： a pooled analysis of 61 cases

Background Bladder leiomyoma is an uncommon type of bladder neoplasms. Most publications are reports of isolated cases. The influence of tumor size on patients＇ early symptoms was seldom analyzed. We aim to investigate the clinical characteristics of bladder leiomyoma and the influence of tumor size on patients＇ symptoms in Chinese population. Methods We reviewed the medical records of eight patients diagnosed with bladder leiomyoma at our department, collected 53 cases from Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure （CNKI）, Wangfang data base, and Chinese Biological Medicine Disk, and performed a pooled analysis. The clinical characteristics of the patients were analyzed and then classified into symptomatic and asymptomatic groups. The association between tumor size and the occurrence of symptoms was evaluated. Furthermore, Logistic regression model was constructed to discriminate variables. Results Women comprised the majority of the patients （49/61, 80.3%）. The mean age and tumor size were （42.3＋14.0） years and （45.0＋25.7） mm, respectively. Among all the symptoms, irritative symptoms occurred most frequently （37.7%, 23/61）, followed by obstructive urinary symptoms （31.1%, 19/61）, hematuria （24.6%, 15/61 ）, and abdominal bulge or pain （14.8%, 9/61）. In our study, patients who were 45 years old or younger tended to be asymptomatic compared with elder ones （14/36 vs. 3/25, P=-0.021）. The histological, as well as anatomical, location of tumor, did not show significant differences between symptomatic and asymptomatic patients （P=-0.306 and 0.700）. Tumors larger than 30 mm in the greatest diameter would cause clinical symptoms such as obstructive urinary symptoms （P=0.048） and irritative symptoms （P=0.037）. Logistic regression confirmed the association between tumor size and the occurrence of symptoms, which was related with age. Organo-chromium(III)complex is one of the chromium contaminant species,which would transform to high-toxic Cr(VI)during migrating in the *** natural organo-chromium(III)(NOCr)is difficult to remove by traditional degradation or precipitation methods,due to its high stability and ***,we demonstrated a novel NOCr removing method by transforming it to certain structures similar to Cr-Fe minerals in nature,through a self-circulating decomplex and immobilization mechanism with nano zero-valent iron(nZVI).Taking chromium glycinate(Cr-Gly)as a probe,nZVI showed a high Cr removal efficiency of 99.4%under ambient *** removal process included three stages of adsorption,decomplexation,and ***-Gly was first adsorbed on the surface of nZVI by chemisorption of the oxide ***,the adsorbed Cr-Gly was decomplexed and oxidized to Cr(VI)by·OH and 1O_(2),which were generated from molecular oxygen activated by ***,the released Cr(VI)could be in-situ adsorbed and re-reduced to Cr(III),which was further immobilized in form of Cr-O-Fe *** the Cr-O-Fe complexing structure was similar to that of Cr-Fe minerals(such as chromohercynite)in nature,this work explored a novel and efficient NOCr removing method that was potential to weaken chromium pollution in the environment.

Background： Drug resistance to targeted therapies occurs in lung cancer, and resistance mechanisms related to epidermal growth factor receptor （EGFR） tyrosine kinase inhibitors （TKIs） are continuously being discovered. We aimed to establish a novel method for highly parallel multiplexed detection of genetic mutations related to EGFR TKl-resistant lung cancer using Agena iPLEX chemistry and niatrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight analysis on the MassARRAY mass spectrometry platform. Methods： A review of the literature revealed 60 mutation hotspots in seven target genes （EGFR, KRAS, PIK3CA, BRAF, ERBB2, NRAS, and BIM） that are closely related to EGFR TKI resistance to lung cancer. A total of 183 primers comprised 61 paired forward and reverse amplification primers, and 61 matched extension primers were designed using Assay Design Software. The detection method was established by analyzing nine cell lines, and by comparison with LungCartaTM kit in ten lung cancer specimens. EGFR, KRAS. and BIM genes in all cell lines and clinical samples were subjected to Sanger sequencing for confirming reproducibility. Results： Our data showed that designed panel was a high-throughput and robust tool, allowing genotyping for sixty hotspots in the same run. Moreover, it made efficient use of patient diagnostic samples for a more accurate EGFR TKIs resistance analysis. The proposed method could accurately detect mutations in lung cancer cell lines and clinical specimens, consistent with those obtained by the LungCartaTM kit and Sanger sequencing. We also established a method for detection of large-fragment deletions based on single-base extension technology of MassARRAY platform. Conclusions： We established an effective method for high-throughput detection of genetic mutations related to EGFR TKI resistance based on the MassARRAY platform, which could provide more accurate information for overcoming cancers with de novo or acquired resistance to EGFR-targeted therap

The influence of a mechanical structure's volume increment on the volume power density (VPD) of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) is often neglected when considering surface charge density and surface power density. This paper aims to address this gap by introducing a standardized VPD metric for a more comprehensive evaluation of TENG performance. The study specifically focuses on 2 frequency-up mechanisms, namely, the integration of planetary gears (PG-TENG) and the implementation of a double-cantilever structure (DC-TENG), to investigate their impact on VPD. The study reveals that the PG-TENG achieves the highest volume average power density, measuring at 0.92 W/m^(3). This value surpasses the DC-TENG by 1.26 times and the counterpart TENG by a magnitude of 69.9 times. Additionally, the PG-TENG demonstrates superior average power output. These findings introduce a new approach for enhancing TENGs by incorporating frequency-up mechanisms, and highlight the importance of VPD as a key performance metric for evaluating TENGs.

Graphene reinforced magnesium matrix composites have wide applications in automotive,electronics,aerospace and military fields due to the fascinating mechanical ***,it is difficult to realize the high strength and ductility *** this work,the in situ liquid-state method was utilized to prepare GNPs/Mg6Zn composites via CO_(2)/Mg chemical *** strength of the GNPs/Mg6Zn composites was improved with increasing content of the ***,the composites also exhibit a notable plastic deformation stage,and especially the ductility of 0.12 GNPs/Mg6Zn composites reaches 27.6%.Therefore,this novel preparation method has great potential application for fabricating Mg matrix composites with high strength and high ductility.

Establishment and application of a multiplex genetic mutation-detection method of lung cancer based on MassARRAY platform

Objective: This study aims to establish a method for highly parallel multiplexed detection of genetic mutations in Chinese lung cancer samples through Agena i PLEX chemistry and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight analysis on Mass ARRAY mass spectrometry ***: We reviewed the related literature and data on lung cancer treatments. We also identified 99 mutation hot spots in 13 target genes closely related to the pathogenesis, drug resistance, and metastasis of lung cancer. A total of 297 primers, composed of99 paired forward and reverse amplification primers and 99 matched extension primers, were designed using Assay Design software. The detection method was established by analyzing eight cell lines and six lung cancer specimens. The proposed method was then validated through comparisons by using a Lung Carta^(TM) kit. The sensitivity and specificity of the proposed method were evaluated by directly sequencing EGFR and KRAS genes in 100 lung cancer ***: The proposed method was able to detect multiplex genetic mutations in lung cancer cell lines. This finding was consistent with the observations on previously reported mutations. The proposed method can also detect such mutations in clinical lung cancer specimens. This result was consistent with the observations with Lung Carta^(TM) kit. However, an FGFR2 mutation was detected only through the proposed method. The measured sensitivity and specificity were 100% and 96.3%, ***: The proposed Mass ARRAY technology-based multiplex method can detect genetic mutations in Chinese lung cancer patients. Therefore, the proposed method can be applied to detect mutations in other cancer tissues.
