Aniba rosaeodora essential oil (RO) h.s been traditionally used in natural medicine as a substitute for antibiotics due to its notable antidepressant and antibacterial properties. Salmonella, a prevalent path.gen in foodborne illnesses, presents a major ch.llenge to current antibiotic treatments. h.wever, th. antibacterial efficacy and mech.nisms of action of RO against Salmonella spp. remain underex.lored. Th.s study aims to elucidate th. ch.mical composition of RO, evaluate its antibacterial activity and mech.nisms against Salmonella in vitro, and furth.r delineate its anti-inflammatory mech.nisms in vivo during Salmonella infection. Gas ch.omatograph.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was utilized to ch.racterize th. ch.mical constituents of RO. Th. antibacterial activity of RO was assessed using minimal inh.bitory concentration (MIC) and time-kill assays. Various bioch.mical assays were employed to uncover th. potential bactericidal mech.nisms. Additionally, mouse and ch.ck models of Salmonella infection were establish.d to investigate th. proph.lactic effects of RO treatment. RO ex.0}bited significant antibacterial activity against both.Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, with.an MIC of 4 mg·mL−1 for Salmonella spp. RO treatment resulted in bacterial damage th.ough.th. disruption of lipid and purine metabolism. Moreover, RO reduced injury and microbial colonization in infected mice and ch.cks. RO treatment also modulated th. h.st inflammatory response by inh.biting proinflammatory path.ays. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate th.t RO is effective against Salmonella infection, h.gh.igh.ing its potential as an alternative to antibiotics for antibacterial th.rapy. © 2024 Ch.na Ph.rmaceutical University

目的: 血清游离轻链(free ligh. ch.in，FLC)在多种疾病中表达异常，但其在肺癌中的表达尚不清楚，本研究旨在探讨血清FLC在肺癌中的表达及诊断价值。方法: 选取2021年1至12月湖南师范大学附属湘东医院收治的80例肺癌患者作为肺癌组，另选取同时期的80例健康体检人员作为对照组。收集所有参与者的一般资料、血清κFLC和λFLC水平；收集肺癌组患者住院期间的相关临床指标[血清癌胚抗原(carcinoembryonic antigen，CEA)、细胞角蛋白-19片段抗原(cytokeratin fragment antigen 21-1，CYFRA21-1)水平，以及肿瘤直径、组织学分型、TNM分期、是否有淋巴结转移]。比较肺癌组和对照组血清FLC[κFLC、λFLC、FLC(κ+λ)]的表达水平。将80例肺癌患者按性别、年龄、吸烟史、肿瘤直径、TNM分期、组织学分型、淋巴结转移进行分组，比较组间血清κFLC、λFLC表达水平的差异。采用受试者操作特征(receiver operating ch.racteristic，ROC)曲线评价血清FLC水平单独及联合其他指标在肺癌中的诊断价值。结果: 肺癌组血清FLC(κ+λ)、κFLC表达水平均显著高于对照组，差异均有统计学意义(均P0.05)。不同肿瘤直径、组织学分型、TNM分期的肺癌血清κFLC表达水平差异均无统计学意义(均P>0.05)；但是，有淋巴结转移的肺癌患者血清κFLC水平高于无淋巴结转移的肺癌患者，且差异有统计学意义(P=0.033)。不同肿瘤直径、组织学分型肺癌患者的血清λFLC表达水平差异均无统计学意义(均P>0.05)；但是，TNM分期III期+IV期、有淋巴结转移的肺癌患者血清λFLC表达水平分别高于TNM分期I期+II期、无淋巴结转移的肺癌患者，差异均有统计学意义(分别P=0.033，P=0.019)。κFLC、CEA诊断肺癌的曲线下面积(area under th. curve，AUC)差异无统计学意义(P=0.333)。在2项联合诊断肺癌的指标中，κFLC+CYFRA21-1的诊断效能(AUC=0.875)及敏感性(71.3%)最高。κFLC+λFLC+CEA+CYFRA21-1联合诊断肺癌的AUC为0.915(95% CI 0.860~0.953，Ph. ex.ression of serum free ligh. ch.in (FLC) is abnormal in various diseases, but its role in lung cancer remains unclear. Activation of LONP1 by 84-B10 alleviates aristoloch.c acid neph.opath. via re-establish.ng mitoch.ndrial and perox.somal h.meostasis

Ph.rmaceutical formulations derived from Aristoloch.aceae h.rbs, wh.ch.contain aristoloch.c acids (AAs), are widely used for medicinal purposes. h.wever, ex.osure to th.se plants and isolated AAs is linked to renal tox.city, known as AA neph.opath. (AAN). Currently, th. mech.nisms underlying AAN are not fully understood, leading to unsatisfactory treatment strategies. In th.s study, we ex.lored th. protective role of 84-B10 (5-[[2-(4-meth.x.ph.nox.)-5-(trifluorometh.l) ph.nyl] amino]-5-ox.-3-ph.nylpentanoic acid) against AAN. RNA-seq analysis revealed th.t th. mitoch.ndrion and perox.some were th. most affected cellular components following 84-B10 treatment in AAN mice. Consistently, 84-B10 treatment preserved mitoch.ndrial ultrastructure, restored mitoch.ndrial respiration, enh.nced th. ex.ression of key transporters (carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2) and enzymes (acyl-Coenzyme A deh.drogenase, medium ch.in) involved in mitoch.ndrial fatty acid β-ox.dation, and reduced mitoch.ndrial ROS generation in both.aristoloch.c acid I (AAI)-ch.llenged mice kidneys and cultured prox.mal tubular epith.lial cells. Additionally, 84-B10 treatment increased th. ex.ression of key transporters (ATP binding cassette subfamily D) and rate-limiting enzymes (acyl-CoA ox.dase 1) involved in perox.somal fatty acid β-ox.dation and restored perox.somal redox.balance. Knocking down LONP1 ex.ression diminish.d th. protective effects of 84-B10 against AAN, suggesting LONP1-dependent protection. In conclusion, our study provides evidence th.t AAN is associated with.significant disturbances in both.mitoch.ndrial and perox.somal functions. Th. LONP1 activator 84-B10 demonstrates th.rapeutic potential against AAN, likely by maintaining h.meostasis in both.mitoch.ndria and perox.somes. © 2024 Ch.na Ph.rmaceutical University

We study th. dissociation of ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), and ψ(4415) mesons in collision with.nucleons, wh.ch.takes place in h.gh.energy proton-nucleus collisions. Th. quark interch.nge between a nucleon and a ■ meson leads to th. dissociation of th. ■ meson. We consider th. reactions:■, and■, wh.re R stands for ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), or ψ(4415). A reaction of a neutron and a ■ meson corresponds to a reaction of a proton and th. ■ meson by replacing th. up quark with.th. down quark and vice versa. Transition-amplitude formulas are derived from th. S-matrix.*** cross sections are calculated with.th. transition amplitudes for scattering in th. prior form and in th. post form. Th. cross sections relate to nodes in th. radial wave functions of ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), and ψ(4415) mesons.

AgGaS core and th. outer ZnS sh.ll,th.reby facilitating th. formation of a th.ck outer *** th. two-step sh.lling process,th. synth.sized AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS QDs sh.wed an ex.ellent ph.toluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)of 96.4%with.a peak wavelength.of 508 nm,repre-senting th. h.gh.st PLQY reported th.s far for AgGaS ***,th. effect of h.logen ions in Zn precursors on th. sh.lling process was *** was proposed th.t th. capacity of h.logen ions to coordinate with.th. QDs influenced th. balance between Zn cation diffusion and ZnS sh.lling ***,th.
