Tetrahedrite,an Earth-abundant natural mineral,has attracted extensive research interest because of its excellent thermoelectric performance.Herein,tetrahedrite samples comprising Cu-poor Cu_(12)Sb_(4)S_(13)and Cu-rich Cu_(14)Sb_(4)S_(13)phases have been synthesized using a colloidal method,in which the ratio of two phases is manipulated by controlling the synthesis temperature to improve the thermoelectric perfor-mance.It is found that an ultralow total thermal conductivity of∼0.3 W m^(−1)K^(−1)at 723 K is realized in the sample with a Cu-rich phase fraction of∼50%,which can be attributed to maximized phonon scattering by phase boundaries.As a result,combined with a decent power factor,this sample obtains an optimal zT of 1.15,which is about 85%higher than that of the sample with a Cu-rich phase fraction of∼64%and comparable to zT values of other eco-friendly,abundant Cu-based thermoelectric materials.This work demonstrates an effective synthesis-temperature-dependent phase composition manipulation strategy toward enhanced thermoelectric performance in tetrahedrites.

OBJECTIVE To assess the feasibility and safety of the minimalistic approach to left atrial appendage occlusion(LAAO) guided by cardiac computed tomography angiography(CCTA).METHODS Ninety consecutive patients who underwent LAAO, with or without CCTA-guided, were matched(1:2). Each step of the LAAO procedure in the computed tomography(CT) guidance group(CT group) was directed by preprocedural CT planning. In the control group, LAAO was performed using the standard method. All patients were followed up for 12 months, and device surveillance was conducted using CCTA.RESULTS A total of 90 patients were included in the analysis, with 30 patients in the CT group and 60 matched patients in the control group. All patients were successfully implanted with Watchman devices. The mean ages for the CT group and the control group were 70.0 ± 9.4 years and 68.4 ± 11.9 years(P = 0.52), respectively. The procedure duration(45.6 ± 10.7 min vs. 58.8 ± 13.0 min,P luSIONS CCTA is capable of detailed LAAO procedure planning. Minimalistic LAAO with preprocedural CCTA planning was feasible and safe, with shortened procedure time and acceptable increased radiation and contras consumption. For patients with contraindications to general anesthesia and/or transesophageal echocardiography, this promising method may be an alternative to conventional LAAO.

Paclitaxel,a tetracyclic diterpenoid,has garnered attention for its potent anti-cancer properties and intricate molecular structure,making it a significant target for chemical synthesis and biosynthesis[1].However,its natural sources are extremely limited,as it is derived exclusively from the bark of endangered genus Taxus plants,which contain paclitaxel in very low concentrations(0.01%−0.05%)[2-3].Recent advances in synthetic biology present promising opportunities to enhance paclitaxel levels in Taxus cell cultures or to enable the reconstitution of its production in heterologous hosts,such as yeast or tobacco(Nicotiana benthamiana).

Owing to their low flexibility,poor processability and a lack of responsiveness,inorganic materials are usually non-ideal for constructing a living organism.Hence,to date,lifelike materials with structural hierarchies and adaptive properties usually rely on light and soft organic molecules,although few exceptions have been acquired using two-dimensional(2D)inorganic nanosheets.Herein,with a systematic study on the gelation behavior of carbon-based 0D quantum dots,1D nanotubes,and 3D fullerenes,we find that acidified 1D carbon nanotubes(CNTs)can serve as an alternative building block for fabricating purely inorganic biomimetic soft materials.The as-prepared CNT gels exhibit not only a pH-or photothermal-triggered mechanical and tribological adaptivity,which allows them to simulate the behavior of sea cucumbers,peacock mantis shrimps,and mammalian muscles or cortical bones,but also a unique damping property that is similar to spider’s cuticular pad.Their high elasticity,effective lubrication,excellent biocompatibility,and controllable friction and wear also allow them to function as a new type of smart lubricants,whose tribological properties can be regulated either by its internal pH changes or spatiotemporally by near-infrared(NIR)light irradiations,free of any toxic and flammable base oils or additives.

Due to the mutual repulsion between their hydrophilic surface terminations and the high surface energy facilitating their ran-dom restacking,2D MXene nanosheets usually cannot self-assemble into 3D macroscopic gels with various applications in the absence of proper linking agents.In this work,a rapid spontaneous gelation of Ti3C2Tx MXene with a very low dispersion concentration of 0.5 mg mL^(-1) into multifunctional architectures under moderate centrifugation is illustrated.The as-prepared MXene gels exhibit reconfigurable internal structures and tunable rheological,tribological,electrochemical,infrared-emissive and photothermal-conversion properties based on the pH-induced changes in the surface chemistry of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) nanosheets.By adopting a gel with optimized pH value,high lubrication,exceptional specific capacitances(~635 and~408 F g^(-1) at 5 and 100 mV s^(-1),respectively),long-term capacitance retention(~96.7%after 10,000 cycles)and high-precision screen-or extrusion-printing into different high-resolution anticounterfeiting patterns can be achieved,thus displaying extensive potential applications in the fields of semi-solid lubrication,control-lable devices,supercapacitors,information encryption and infrared camouflaging.

The utilization of electromagnetic waves is rapidly advancing into the millimeter-wave frequency range,posing increasingly severe challenges in terms of electromagnetic pollution prevention and radar stealth.However,existing millimeter-wave absorbers are still inadequate in addressing these issues due to their monotonous magnetic resonance pattern.In this work,rare-earth La^(3+)and non-magnetic Zr^(4+)ions are simultaneously incorporated into M-type barium ferrite(BaM)to intentionally manipulate the multi-magnetic resonance behavior.By leveraging the contrary impact of La^(3+)and Zr^(4+)ions on magnetocrystalline anisotropy field,the restrictive relationship between intensity and frequency of the multi-magnetic resonance is successfully eliminated.The magnetic resonance peak-differentiating and imitating results confirm that significant multi-magnetic resonance phenomenon emerges around 35 GHz due to the reinforced exchange coupling effect between Fe^(3+)and Fe^(2+)ions.Additionally,Mosbauer spectra analysis,first-principle calculations,and least square fitting collectively identify that additional La^(3+)doping leads to a profound rearrangement of Zr^(4+)occupation and thus makes the portion of polarization/conduction loss increase gradually.As a consequence,the La^(3+)-Zr^(4+)co-doped BaM achieves an ultra-broad bandwidth of 12.5+GHz covering from 27.5 to 40+GHz,which holds remarkable potential for millimeter-wave absorbers around the atmospheric window of 35 GHz.

BACKGROUND Gastric bronchogenic cysts(BCs)are extremely rare cystic masses caused by abnormal development of the respiratory system during the embryonic period.Gastric bronchial cysts are rare lesions that were first reported in 1956;as of 2023,only 33 cases are available in the PubMed online database.BCs usually have no clinical symptoms in the early stage,and imaging findings also lack specificity.Therefore,they are difficult to diagnose before histopathological examination.CASE SUMMARY A 34-year-old woman with respiratory distress presented at our hospital.Endoscopic ultrasound revealed an anechoic mass between the spleen,left kidney and gastric fundus,with hyperechogenic and soft elastography textures and with a size of approximately 6.5 cm×4.0 cm.Furthermore,a computed tomography scan demonstrated high density between the posterior stomach and the spleen and the left kidney,with uniform internal density and a small amount of calcification.The maximum cross section was approximately 10.1 cm×6.1 cm,and the possibility of a cyst was high.Because the imaging findings did not suggest a malignancy and because the patient required complete resection,she underwent laparotomy surgery.Intraoperatively,this cystic lesion was found to be located in the posterior wall of the large curvature of the fundus and was approximately 8 cm×6 cm in size.Finally,the pathologists verified that the cyst in the fundus was a gastric BC.The patient recovered well,her symptoms of chest tightness disappeared,and the abdominal drain was removed on postoperative day 6,after which she was discharged on day 7 for 6 months of follow-up.She had no tumor recurrence or postoperative complications during the follow-up.CONCluSION This is a valuable report as it describes an extremely rare case of gastric BC.Moreover,this was a very young patient with a large BC in the stomach.

Soil Salinity and Soil Water Content Estimation Using Digital Images in Coastal Field:A Case Study in Yancheng City of Jiangsu Province,China

Soil is the essential part for agricultural and environmental sciences,and soil salinity and soil water content are both the important influence factors for sustainable development of agriculture and ecological environment.Digital camera,as one of the most popular and convenient proximal sensing instruments,has its irreplaceable position for soil properties assessment.In this study,we collected 52 soil samples and photographs at the same time along the coast in Yancheng City of Jiangsu Province.We carefully analyzed the relationship between soil properties and image brightness,and found that soil salt content had higher correlation with average image brightness value than soil water content.From the brightness levels,the high correlation coefficients between soil salt content and brightness levels concentrated on the high brightness values,and the high correlation coefficients between soil water content and brightness levels focused on the low brightness values.Different significance levels(P)determined different brightness levels related to soil properties,hence P value setting can be an optional way to select brightness levels as the input variables for modeling soil properties.Given these information,random forest algorithm was applied to develop soil salt content and soil water content inversion models using randomly 70%of the dataset,and the rest data for testing models.The results showed that soil salt content model had high accuracy(R_(v)^(2)=0.79,RMSE_(v)=12 g/kg,and RPD_(v)=2.18),and soil water content inversion model was barely satisfied(R_(v)^(2)=0.47,RMSE_(v)=3.04%,and RPD_(v)=1.38).This study proposes a method of modeling soil properties with a digital camera.Combining unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV),it has potential popularization and application value for precise agriculture and land management.
